We have now been here twice, once when we stayed at a B&B in Sperryville and on our way back from Orange, Va. We purposely went home by way of 24 Crows just to eat lunch. They have a unique combination of sandwiches that are bursting with flavor. They do have a small menu but the food is so worth it. We also got the ice cream both times and again so worth the stop if you in the area. They are only open a few hours a day, I believe they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays but I recommend giving this place a try.

24 Crows is a must stop if you are visiting Rappahannock County. The food is fantastic and affordable considering it’s very high quality. The menu is updated daily which gives the opportunity to try something new every day. One staple of their menu is their delectable ice cream which is homemade with a hand formed cone strait off the hot iron which truly completes the dish. Besides the food, 24 Crows offers a congenial atmosphere as their owner is very friendly. When waiting for your food, one can appreciate the art and other items that are for sale inside. I always look forward to my next meal at 24 Crows.

I’ve been coming here for almost twenty years(before they were the Four and Twenty Blackbirds restaurant). Their freshly made sandwiches, soups and ice cream is so wonderful. One very cold and wintery day many years ago my husband and I were enjoying our meal so much(and ordering so much) that we finally broke down and ordered ice cream to go… Vinny(one of the owners) said in a good way, «You guys are too much!» Heidi, Owner/Chef has that very special touch in the kitchen. I love her food!

I’ve eaten at 24 Crows many times and find the service, food and atmosphere delectable. All reasons we keep returning. The word is out though, that is why the place can be busy! I’ve eaten in and called to order food for take out and have always been met with friendly staff and food that leaves you wanting more, and they have the best root beer! Thank you 24 Crows!

I was excited to return. I arrived At 11:16 am and told they would not make sandwich till 11:30. Then told to move my car. I took advantage and left. Attitude and service is their downfall. The food though was food when they feel like serving. I have no need for this attitude.

Waited 30 minutes for a table which was a tense affair as their policy is ‘grab a table by throwing your body over it as soon as someone gets up’. This turns out is very literal advice as we lost two tables to people who came in after us but rudely sat down with customers who hadn’t yet left their tables. The owner seemed to enjoy this tussling which is odd at best, not to mention unprofessional. Lunch is 11.30−2.30 but by 1pm they’d run out of one of the 3 things(not kidding) on the menu &30 mins after ordering still no sign of our food. Which was a cold sandwich. This is impressive given there were fewer than 12 patrons in the café. Cancelled order after 50 minutes because they hadn’t even started preparing it(no apology from the restaurant) Avoid!

This is seriously a hidden gem! I specifically traveled to Flint Hill for this restaurant. I can’t remember where I saw it, but it was probably the Washington Post magazine or something. Despite the town having nothing, this little spot is so worth it! Be prepared if it is «busy», there isn’t much seating. But stick around and enjoy the menu. We got the shrimp and corn fritters and two flavors of ice cream! Everything was awesome!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the caramel sea salt homemade ice cream– it was just the right amount of caramel with an extreme smooth texture. So good! Highly recommend this place.

Another fabulous weekend meal. I got the shrimply delicious club sandwich — light, fresh and tasty. The aioli added that rich taste, the avocado added the decadence. My partner ordered the best ever burger and it never disappoints. Today, we ordered an ice cream sandwich — maple apple cider ice cream with molasses spice cookie. No sugar added. The apple cider flavor just blossoms on your palate as you bite into the ice cream sandwich. I don’t care if its freezing out, I’ll order it again! Good job 24 Crows!

Not the most friendly bunch, as seems the norm for the town, but the best ice cream you will have. We walked in for a quick sandwich and were surprised that they had stopped serving food other than ice cream. We had the Whiskey ice cream and the Coffee Toffee ice cream. Both were great and they both came with a little just made and still warm waffle cone.

24 Crows is a hidden gem in Flint Hill. We walked in and thought we were entering a little shop, as there are many items for sale and not many seats. It turned out 24 Crows is a little shop that serves food, but the food is VERY good! I ordered a sandwich entitled«Last of the Summer» or something like it. It had tomato/basil pesto, heirloom tomatoes, arugula, and provolone on focaccia, and it was served with summer squash soup. Everything was AMAZING! We topped it off with homemade apple pie and vanilla ice cream. What a lunch!

As the other reviews stated, 24 Crows is a lovely little gem located in Flint Hill. The food menu, although a bit limited, is impressive and both myself and my friend loved our dishes. I ordered a cured ham sandwich served between brioche bread and a house made cole slaw and my friend ordered a smoked salmon salad with goat cheese stuffed pita. The sandwich was delicious and the slaw was probably the best I’ve had anywhere. I got to try my friend’s salad and it was delicious. She stated she loved it too. The store itself has goods made from around the world. All were reasonably priced as well. A great spot for lunch. I look forward to trying their other dishes.

A fantastic lunch place hidden in Flint Hill. Gourmet food served in an informal atmosphere that cannot be beat. Every day brings a different menu and everything on the menu is remarkable. Don’t go expecting anything ordinary — this place is everything but ordinary. A cool little gift shop with unique items to peruse while you’re there. And the home made ice creams are out of this world. Sit inside or on a nice day outside and watch the world go by. Food served from 11am until 2:30pm, as I recall. Open Wednesday thru Sunday.

Surprisingly good. Menu is very small and appears to change daily/often, as it is written on a board at the front desk. You order inside. There are two tables inside and two tables outside. The gift shop has nifty and pretty things from all over the world. I had smoked salmon over a small salad with goat cheese stuffed pita crisps. Sort of quesadilla-esque and really, really good. I had a bite of a friend’s ham sandwich and the house made cole slaw on top really hit the spot. We enjoyed it. The folks running it are very friendly.

What a beautiful place & what insanely great food! Have been here a couple times and can’t get enough. They have adorable little stuffed animals for kids and great local art and small items. I love the glittering butterfly’s. Try the ice cream every flavor is so good.

Great place and friendly owners. We’ve been there twice and it is a «must stop» when going to a B&B in the area. Sandwich menu changes and is incredible. Last time it was a smoked salmon sandwich that is still memorable 8 months later. Today was snowy so homemade soups, both tomato soup with smoked bacon and croutons as well as Italian escarole soup hit the spot. Can’t leave without trying the wonderful homemade ice cream with warm waffle cone-today we tried almond toffee crunch. Wow! Seating is limited but the place is charming. Highly recommend!

This is just a terrific little place in one of the most beautiful parts of the countryside you can find. It has some terrific sandwiches, soups, and special sides. The have espresso, homemade ice cream, drinks, and a little gift shop. We had a terrific hanger steak sandwich. This is a must stop.

A fine establishment. The sandwiches and ice cream are dynamite — loved every bite. On the downside, seating is extremely limited — the gift shop takes up too much space. There are two outside tables which help during the warm season, though on nice weekend days it’s pretty much one idiot after another going by on unnecessarily-loud motorcycles, so don’t plan on it being particularly peaceful. :-)

Went here for lunch after reading the reviews on Unilocal.Fabulous food and service! Creative appetizers, sandwiches, and homemade ice cream. We had the chilled corn and tomato bisque, a Greek turkey sandwich with tasty olive tapenade, and lemon blueberry crisp ice cream. Next time we are in Shenandoah, we will be back!

We were vacationing in Shenandoah National Park and were referred here by our bed and breakfast owners. The sandwiches here are truly amazing! The food was so good we ended up coming here twice in 3 days. They only prepare 4 – 5 sandwiches a day, but each one is lovingly crafted to perfection. The meats are succulent, the veggies are fresh, and the bread is warm, soft and crunchy at the same time. And the menu changes often — between the first and second time we came they had completely changed their sandwich offerings. They have some truly great ice-cream as well. They serve it in a bowl, accompanied by a warm cone fresh out of the oven. If we lived here there’s no doubt we’d be coming here every week, if not more often. Only downside of this place is that it’s a bit small and seating is limited, but we never had trouble finding a table.

I’m quite surprised nobody has yet reviewed this great little lunch spot in Flint Hill that opened in the former digs(and by the former owners) of Four and Twenty Blackbirds in the village of Flint Hill. Basically it is an art gallery and gift shop that sells gourmet foods and select beer and wine. But the real magic happens when they open up the lunch counter from 11:30am until 2:30pm(store hours are Wed-Sun only). The short but enticing chalkboard menu changes seasonally and daily, offering a delightful mix of savory and sweet treats for the casual diner. There’s often a touch of southwest flair on the menu, as well as a few sandwiches and whatever else they dream up in the kitchen. Whatever you do, be sure save room for dessert because the house-baked goods and homemade ice creams(the honey pistachio is simply sublime) are worth the trip alone. Highly recommended!
