It was a dark and stormy night… The highway was flooded and Waze detoured me off the beaten path. My stomach was empty and I needed sustenance. Quick search on my trusty Unilocal said that I was .5 mi away from this little Jersey gem. Ordered way too much food but tried the bean soup which was very good and the sampler appetizer platter. Whatever their version of Baba ghanouj that is actually called something else — tasted like the freshest Baba ghanouj I have ever had! The hummus was the perfect blend of garlic & lemon and the potato dip that I don’t know what it was called either, was superb. The tzekie(sp?) was made with tak Greek yogurt and super fresh and delicious. The service was really outstanding too. This place is top notch! It was a little cold inside and the atmosphere is more like an eat-in deli but just what I needed! Unfortunately, now I have to get on the road with a full belly and miles ahead of me… Thanks little Greek haven! Oh, and did I mention that they sell Greek caviar? P. S. Clean bathroom!

Great little restaurant/market with high quality food. We were back in town for the holiday and decided to visit based on great Unilocal reviews. We were served by the owner of the restaurant and her husband(who’s from cyprus) is the chef. They are the nicest people in the world and take a lot of pride in their business and the food they serve. It was great just meeting and talking with them… but the onto the food! We both love Greek food and trying new Mediterranean restaurants. This night we went basic: she ordered the pork souvlaki with greek salad and I had the gyro platter w/salad. The salad was very nice and lightly dress. Not too much dressing or cheese which is common. Her pork was terrific. Nicely seasoned and cooked. The gyro was fantastic and perhaps better than the place back home. Tzatziki was a touch oily but still well herbed. We’ll be sure to stop next time we’re in town and we grabbed a bunch of take out menus for my parents.

One of the best gyros I’ve had… hands down. My wife liked the lemon rice soup so much… we ordered some more to go! Definitely recommended! We’ll be back!

It’s really not much of a market, just a few imported items here and there. But as a restaurant, Village Gyro hits the spot for flavorful Greek dishes and friendly service. I stopped in for lunch with a colleague last week and got the Avyolemono soup which has chicken, rice, egg and lemon sauce, the Keftedes(Greek meatballs & tzatziki), and the Gemista, which are peppers stuffed with ground beef, rice, herbs and spices. I walked in here starving, so my review may be amped up a bit, but man, the food here was really great. I loved the lemony chicken soup which was very hearty and refreshing, and the Kefthedes tasted like they just came off the grill. So good. The stuffed pepps were so well made and delicious, so much so that I actually ordered 4 more to go for my kids and wife to have for dinner. I would definitely recommend this place for a casual Greek lunch. Prices are fair, portions are big and the food is simply great.

Absolutely delicious, authentic and fresh. Gyro platter, souvlaki platter, even the Texas wiener was delicious… got a side of their hummus – fresh, homemade, lots of yummy garlic and of course warm, homemade pita was so soft and perfect. An amazing meal. We will be back ASAP!

food was good but overpriced, particularly the souvlaki platter. best deal is the keftedes appetizer. a little off the beaten track in a strip mall. the breakfast seemed like a really good deal. might come back for that.

Repeated quality food and service. Great to see a different flare of food in the area. Perfect food for a Saturday lunch after a night of drinking or just to enjoy a delicious gyro!

Had takeout tonight from Village Gyro. The food was wonderful! Freshly cooked pork on the Souvlaki Platter along with Greek salad and warm pita! Yum! Also a delicious side of tasty Dolmades! I will order from this restaurant again… better yet my hubby and I will go there for a sit down dinner! They even have breakfast!

The best Greek salad with grilled chicken I have ever had. The best dressing, great marinated chicken and the perfect portion.

The dips are a wonderful start to tasty and fresh entrees. We always take a short tour of the store while waiting for our food and have delightful interactions with the owners.

I took the family(of 4 kids and wife) and were pleasantly surprised. The staff is extremely nice. Very family oriented. Treated us like family to be honest. Food: was very good. Had a lot of taste. We mainly ordered the gyros and the gyro platter. Wife also had one of their souls. Can’t recall but she said it was very good. Only negative was that they didn’t have a lamb gyro. They had lamb and beef combo but due to diet I don’t eat beef. Also a bit expensive. Gyro was around $ 8. This does not include fries or anything else. Platter was around $ 12. All in all though I would repeat.

The outside might make one think it’s just a side to the market, but the market is the side to the restaurant. We both had gyros that were delicious and a Greek salad that was incredibly fresh and yummy. We will definitely be back. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures before we quickly ate it!

Best gyros you can get anywhere around. All of the dips I’ve tried are delicious, and the desserts are so delicious. Not knowing any Greek, I usually just have to point to what I would like, but I’ve never been disappointed. Better for take out than eat in because it’s so small and connected to a grocery. Definitely a go-to spot for nights when I don’t feel like cooking.

They have great takeout and desserts. My favorites are the gyros and the spanakopita. They are also very pleasant on the phone and in person

We stopped in for a mid day quick bite yesterday. Both gyro and souvloki platters came pretty quick. The dressing on salad was flavorful but not overpowering like you are getting ready to face off w Count Dracula. The Greek and regular coffee were nice and strong. The desserts were tasty but not too sweet. All and all, great meal good service. They are a bit out of the way for us but we will probably be back.

I love places that sell the raw product, and also serves food… always makes me feel like the food has a better turnover, and is fresher. I ordered the chicken sandwich, with a side order of fries… they were able to upgrade my fries to the greek fries(with oregano, and lemon on them). The Chicken Souvlaki sandwich was good… chicken was tender, and the tzatziki sauce(yougart) was great. Fries were also great. Definitely worth a shot for lunch.
