I recently needed to find a new locksmith to use in town. Jim is old-school locksmith who is extremely personable and customer focused. You’re not going to get the cheapest price you could find, but the quality of service is worth every penny.

Great fast service. Nice guy. They are the place that you trust your locks to. If you can’t find parking in front, you can park behind the store. if no one is in the store, they are out on service calls

Brought in a Thule car roof box with a key broken off in the lock. They expected to be able to extract it and immediately sprayed a «lubricant» into the lock and told us they’d call if/when they got it out. After several days I called to see what was up and spoke to a very friendly gentleman who said it was being stubborn but he’d get more info and call back. He did ask if I had tried to glue the broken key back together because, apparently, people do that. I said no(which I truly hadn’t…who would ever think that would work!?) and he told me there was some kind of gunk in the lock causing trouble. A few hours later, a got a call back from what sounded like an older gentleman who said they couldn’t get the key out and blamed much of the trouble on «whatever the liquid is poured down the side of the case.» I told him I absolutely put nothing in the lock, liquid or otherwise. He seemed disbelieving. I then asked if there were any alternative fixes such as drilling the lock but he wasn’t interested. When my wife went to pick up the case, she immediately saw the«liquid» the gentleman mentioned… she described it as looking like silver spray paint on the lock. She asked what it was and, again, the gentleman insisted it must have been from us… that their lubricant does not stain. My wife insisted it was not dropped off like that and he just shrugged. I’m only giving them two stars because at least they didn’t charge us for the labor.

There are many places to purchase a lockset. There are even some installation choices, if you are not up to doing it yourself… and it’s not easy to do it properly. Jim Green and the entire team at Hunterdon Lock & Safe are total perfectionists. This is very evident just looking at the property of their shop, the cleanliness of their store, and the knowledge and expertise they provide. When they have done work at our home they have been fair in their pricing and generous with their information. This past weekend Jim even loaned me a tool, to help me with a decorative doorknob installation… and he didn’t even sell the doorknob to us! Hunterdon Lock & Safe have an excellent selection of locks, wall safes, and other door-related products. We sleep better at night knowing we are protected by their services and products. My family and I highly recommend Hunterdon Lock & Safe.
