Local eatery serving up flavorful Hawaiian fusion dishes, and cooked up by folks who have actually lived and came from Hawaii! We stumbled upon Just a Pinch Café after getting a haircut for my son. Unilocaled nearby restaurants and decided to drop in. When we walked in and the décor is what attracted us — cute, comfy and cozy. The menu is what made was drool! Mouthwatering dishes! I ordered the chicken katsu and macadamia nut waffle, with a side of Mac salad. Wow, that Mac salad was amazing, so much tastier than the franchise Hawaiian restaurants I’d visit back in my Southern California days. The chicken was cooked to perfection. My husband got the Loco Moco and that was also delish, not too much rice and just a good amount of gravy. Two thumbs up to the owners and staff, their service and hospitality brings me back to fond memories of Hawaii.

An awesome local eatery from an inspiring business owner/chef. Located among the meager options on Fleming Island now exists this cool«SoHa» southern Hawaiian fusion spot. The place is small, cozy and yet open and airy at the same time. The menu is about half breakfast half lunch, and my first time here I explored the lunch. For those who just care about the food: Hawaiian chicken salad and tater tots were my choice. The chicken salad was a nice medley of chicken, sliced red grapes and pineapple all with a special sauce holding it together on top of a toasted bun. The tater tots were crispy and fresh out of the fryer, seasoned. The two really paired well and tasted great. I love a good chicken salad and this one was a bullseye. The tots were tots, but the seasoning and crunchiness of the lot made the meal complete. For $ 8 it was a pretty good deal. I also had to try the shave ice — we went to Kauai in August ’15 and got to experience the«real deal». The shave ice here was good, enough for me to reminisce about our travels. Not the same, but when comparing it to actually being in Hawaii while eating the shave ice is hard to do. Two things that would make it stellar in my book: find Mac nut ice cream somewhere and make it an option, and be a little more generous on the shave ice(see my photos of Jo Jo’s on Kauai). Regardless, the pineapple shave ice with ice cream was good — but at $ 4.50 I could hope for more. Oh… And haupia cream sauce on top. :) Those that care about culture: The guy who owns this has a pretty awesome history here in JAX. I’ve posted a pic of the news article hanging In the dining room. It talks of his ownership of the Jacksonville Princess II and his business ventures here in JAX. I love Hawaii and so having a place 2 minutes down the road that blends southern hospitality with Hawaiian food makes Fleming Island an awesome place to be. Will be back! Can’t wait to try the Hawaiian French toast!

Had lunch here about 2 weeks ago with a colleague. When we arrived it wasn’t too busy. Talked to Bernard — very nice guy. We both had the Boom Burger with Tater Tots and both really enjoyed it. It was really delicious! We will be going back soon.

Awesome vibe and excellent food! The staff was friendly and the owners are very hands-on and came out to check on us. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious! Even our picky toddler had a great time and we will definitely be going back.

A very welcome addition to the small but growing independent restaurant scene on Fleming Island. While it can’t be said that Fleming Island suffers for a lack of dining options, most of what is available are national or regional chain restaurants you could expect to find anywhere in typical suburban America. That’s why it’s so refreshing when, once in a great while, a small business makes the brave but risky decision to open an independent restaurant there. It’s even more infrequent and exciting when the restaurant offers a unique menu and the food is actually really good! Fortunately, such is the case with Just A Pinch Café, a new Hawaiian-Southern fusion restaurant located directly across from Fleming Island High School. My wife and I had the pleasure of stumbling across this newly-opened restaurant(they don’t even have a sign yet) today and, after looking over the large but focused menu, thought we would give them a try. We were glad we did. As it was before noon, both breakfast and lunch options were available. I ordered the Boom Burger and my wife ordered the Chicken and Waffles. Both were carefully prepared and delicious. The restaurant is small but cozy and service was friendly and attentive. We look forward to returning to try some of the restaurant’s more original fare, like the hand rolled lumpia, the six pepper mahi salad, and the loco moco. Check out the menu pics for details on these items and all the other options. Hopefully, this place will be a success and encourage other culinary entrepreneurs to follow suit. But first, they really should get a sign! ;)
