Reggie and Luke are nice people and the finished product looks really nice. It’s basically what I was hoping for. They also did a great job cleaning up the project, which was nice. They get 3 stars for that. But everything in between the sale and the finished product is not so great. I get it, it’s construction. You will ALWAYS pay more in the end. I think that they way that this job happened was a huge learning experience for them and a big disappointment for me. In fact, I knew these guys personally from high school. Bottom line, their customer service and troubleshooting skills are severely lacking, which is a real big bummer. I had such high hopes of recommending them and had a good 5 people who were excited to hear about my experience in hopes of using them. It’s like going to a restaurant that serves food that is yummy but the staff fails to wait on you, treats you like crap, and just plain jerks you around. I can’t recommend them. I had my father who is an architect draw up a schematic with loose measurements. Reggie bid the job based on these loose measurements and never measured the job for himself. I walked the property with Reggie the day we hired him. He also put together a big based on the schematic drawing. During our walk through we discussed additional areas needing to be built as they weren’t shown on the drawing. We both understood this. He said it might cost more money. Great, I understand that but how much? Well, he said, if it’s not too difficult moving the rocks around that exist on your property then it probably won’t be a big deal, actually. If we need to add more cost to it then I will let you know but it probably won’t be a big deal. Sounds reasonable! If more costs are going to show up then you should always discuss with the property own to get approval BEFORE just increasing the bill and invoicing. I went out of town and the extra walls were built that, in the meantime, they planned to bill me for without discussing first. As you could imagine, they are pissed off because they underbid their job and feel underpaid. I return from my trip to a pissed off Luke who feels like he is working for free. BIGMISCOMMUNICATION! It happens! I contacted Reggie and we discussed options. Can we come to some sort of compromise — you guys built the wall and want to bill me for it without discussing with me first when you said that it shouldn’t be a big enough deal to incur costs in the first place. His solution to this extra rock wall that had been stacked up was that they could tear it out if I wasn’t going to pay an extra $ 1500. Grrrrrreat solution. That sounded to me like creating a problem! In fact that was the only«solution» offered. It seemed as if they wished to no longer continue the job because it was such hard work stacking up these rocks and boulders to make a wall. Well, if the job was going to be easy then I could have done it myself, right? They were so fixated on this plan that if anything went outside of the plan or things didn’t add up it was like they threw their hands up and had a pity party because they couldn’t come up with any solutions or make a phone call to me to resolve it. Just seemed very unprofessional. Lots of excuses and very little realistic solutions. I actually questioned their level of experience at this point. They do talk very confidently but in the midst of everything they seemed far less experienced. Also, I am not confident in their decorative rock stacking abilities. My rock wall isn’t pretty. It’s a good retaining wall but lacking artistry. At the end of the job I received an emailed invoice. No message, just an invoice. No «thank you for your business we really appreciate you choosing us» or «we apologize again for the miscommunication but hope that you love the result and will use us again in the future. we would love to work with you»… nothing. Didn’t make me feel valued. You bid $ 15,000… I am paying you $ 19,000 all said and done… where is the customer service??? In a small town, you have to have good word of mouth. I got another invoice today again with no message. Just the invoice. Like, «pay up!» UGH. It’s really unfortunate. So, if you choose to use Forever Lawn in Flagstaff… 1. Make sure that they bid your job based on THEIR measurements. This job was way underbid and that is supposedly my fault?! 2. If you discuss changes get them in writing! We never had a contract or anything. It was all his word against my word, etc. 3. Don’t expect to get a «thank you». You can expect a bunch of loud YEE HAWing at the end of the job while they are cleaning up. Forever Lawn, thank you for finishing the job and not tearing out the wall. Thank you for cleaning everything up very thoroughly. You did a great job on the clean up for sure! My yard looks great. Wish I could give you a better review but I think people should know what they might be getting themselves into :(
