We loved it. It’s not thick crust, cooked till it crispy and burnt pizza crust. It’s classic Italian pizza so it’s thinner and a little softer but it is deliciuos. We recommend the meatball or fennel sausage. The menu says 12″ individual pizzas but two people could easily split one. Even our daughters kid menu pizza could have been split. I think there were eight smaller slices so we each ate 4 on our own and then had the rest for leftovers.

Great wood fired pizza! The dessert was out of this world. It would’ve been nice to have great customer service to go along with it but none the less that was asking for to much.

Great prices. Awesome customer service. The waitress treated my 76 y/o grandmother very well. They also allowed me to change in their restroom for the long drive back home. I wasn’t living here at the time. Nice experience for my family and I. The ambience is very rustic and nice. I wish I could’ve enjoyed the outside area but, it seems to be rundown and, not kept up. That’s the only thing I would like to see change. Thank you.

Great food! Hannah provided exceptional service at dinner. The pizza, pasta, and caprese salad was incredible. The caesar salad with salmon was exceptional as well. We’ll be back for sure!

The service was terrible. The waitress(Hannah) was incredibly rude. She gave us cold bread(we asked for it several times), didn’t check in us and was just plain disrespectful. We asked to speak to the manager. No one ever came out. The food was good, but I’d recommend some training for the staff.

Update: we went back today for the amazing Kenai sandwich, Mike was an awesome waiter. I am revising my rating and bringing it up to where it should be. You will not be disappointed! Bryce was superb as our waitress. The Carbonara pizza was incredible! Highly recommend this place for happy hour and a dinner.

We arrived last minute with a large party. The hostess was excellent and worked to quickly set up a space for us. The restaurant was packed but we were seated within 15 minutes. I recommend the grilled artichoke and lasagna! I’ll definitely be back.

Driving through from Albuquerque to California and stopped in flagstaff for lunch-checked Unilocal and found fat olives and decided to go for lunch. We were very pleased! The atmosphere was nice, a little chilly on the air conditioning, but I am always cold. It was very clean, nicely decorated, and nice music playing. We were greeted by the hostess and seated promptly. She was friendly and ended up being our waitress as well. She was attentive and for everything right. The food was sooo good! I had fat olives salad and my husband had the turkey panini. It was more than enough food for us to eat so we took a box to share for later… we couldn’t leave it, it was worth saving for later. If we pass through flagstaff, we will make it a point to stop.

Graduation weekend. A party of 16. A smallish, non-chain restaurant. Sounds like all the ingredients for a disaster, right? Nothing could be further from the truth. Fat Olives does itself and anyone associated with the business, PROUD! Reservations were of course a requirement and the call was made weeks ago, if not longer. My youngest daughter graduated from NAU with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing(proud mama has to throw this in… Summa Cum Laude!!!) so the whole family came up to watch her walk. The service — 5 stars. More if it were possible. We were immediately seated upon entering Fat Olives and our assigned server, Daniel greeted us all warmly. Drink orders were immediately filled and special care and attention was given to the 4, 5 and 6 year olds in our party with Shirley Temples, crayons and paper. I know Daniel was swamped but that young man never, ever let it show and he never showed any frustration with any special requests or kids making a mess. The chefs were pumping orders out quickly, efficiently, correctly and DELICIOUSLY. Kudos to them for keeping up in this busy, hustling environment. Daniel delivered our food with ease and agility and never left us wanting for anything. When the 6 year old didn’t like her pasta dish from the child’s menu(Bambini menu) and we asked for a side of marinara, Daniel brought it immediately so she could eat right away even though I am sure he had plenty of other customers/things he needed to tend to. The food — 5 stars. I ordered the Belgio Dolce pizza and it was incredible; a white pizza with shaved brussels sprouts, crushed pistachios, and a small drizzle of honey(just enough to give a salty/sweet flavor to the pizza) along with soppressata and plenty of cheese. A real standout in my opinion and I definitely ate more than my fill. I tasted my daughter’s Parma and Argula pizza and it was fresh and a delight to the taste buds. My man’s Wood-Fired Lasagna was one of THE best lasagnas I’ve ever had. Anyone at our table who had the lasagna raved about it. I was hoping my L would pack some in a doggy-bag so I could have a bite or two later but he scarfed that entire dish down. We also had an order of the flatbread before dinner and that thing is huge; served on a wood plank and covered in herbs and pecorino romano. Mmmm. Drink menu is limited and nothing super special. I had a basil lemon drop and couldn’t really detect the basil flavor despite the basil chiffonade in the drink. My 2nd drink, an Italian Breeze made with white rum and Amaretto, was much better. Not too sweet but very tasty, like in more please yummy. LOL Pricing is very reasonable at Fat Olives and I would seriously recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a good meal in Flagstaff. I’m super impressed!

Olive may be a little overweight but it’s for a darn good reason. The test of any good Italian restaurant is in its sauces and in it’s bread. Without good Italian bread, there can be no good bruschetta and the pizza crust gets too soggy. At FO, the bread crusts are crispy and the dough at the center is warm and chewy and delicious. With butter or with EVOO, the bread is the first thing to the table after the extremely warm hostess and the incredible competent and energetic Sofia. Then for the sauce. It’s enough to make you immortal. The lasagna or the pizza had the sauce to die for and then you come back to life as one one of the gods. I’m so full that I have to cut it off there, but don’t let that deter you. Drop whatever you are doing and have dinner at Fat Olive’s whenever they happen to be open.

The food was great. Service was prompt but they tried to feed me some line of BS when I ordered the house red«on tap». There was crud floating in the glass. I was told it was«air from the tap» I said NO… Then I was told it was«nitrogen«I said NO. Then I was told it was glycerin… I said its shit from your lines floating in my wine!!!

So I stopped in Flagstaff for the night and decided to try a place that wasn’t a chain restaurant. I hit the nail on the head this Fat Olives the food was amazing and service was outstanding. I Had the Bruschetta for an appetizer and was instantly amazed at the size and among they served. I also had the Alfredo as an entrée and was not disappointed. The chicken was fresh and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I would absolutely, without a doubt recommend eating here if you stop in Flagstaff you will not be disappointed.

Fat Olives is terrific! After craving Italian and reading some Unilocal reviews we decided on FO and so glad we did. We sat on the patio, service was really good; friendly, attentive, quick, and knowledgeable about the menu. We had happy hr. margarita pizza and fried mushrooms, both very good. We didn’t eat too much b/c we were headed to a film fest that had food and drink as well, but we’ll def. be back to enjoy more next time!

yum. we were searching on Unilocal for a great place to get some dinner because it’s our last day in flagstaff. we happened upon«fat olives» and were ready to get some pizza. we walk into the restaurant and the first thing was the ambiance. there was live music and hyped up customers. we got a table right away. the next thing you notice is how nice you waiter/waitress will be. our waitress was so nice! she was very attentive and helpful. next thing you notice is how great your food is. I got the margarita pizza and it was great. BEWARE: one«personal» pizza can feed two. maybe get a side salad. there were 4 of us eating and 2 of us got a «personal» pizza. we both had ½ of our pizza left. if you are In flagstaff and are craving some great Italian food, stop by «fat olives». too bad I don’t live in Arizona. otherwise I would be coming back to fat olives more often.

Came here based on Unilocal reviews… we were not disappointed! We ordered the meatball pizza and it was very tasty, really fresh! The crust is perfect IMO. My niece and I both loved it. We devoured the pizza. Then we ordered the smores pizza because… why not? We are on vacation! Ah.maaaay.zing… she said«it’s like heaven.» The smores pizza is very rich but delicious. Yummmo.

Fat Olive’s strength is their selection of high quality ingredients. Their pizza choices were not exceedingly complicated or super-creative, but they don’t have to be, because each and every ingredient comes through as super-tasty. I had the Parma and Arugula pizza – which was a solid choice. I thought the pizza was a little light on the sauce and cheese, but then truly Italian pizza is light on sauce and cheese by American standards. A word of caution– when they are busy(we were there the day after Christmas) they can run out of pizza dough. I think we may have been served some of the last dough because we watched a couple at a table close-by become a little agitated as the server explained they were out of pizza dough. All in all, authentic brick oven pizza that emulates the fine dish invented by the Italians. We enjoyed it.

If you want something a little more on the upscale in Flagstaff but don’t want to pay an exceptional amount for it, then consider Fat Olives. It is on historic Route 66 near the tourist-popular attraction of Salsa Brava. The parking lot is small, so if you come when it’s busy, you might have to park next door. From the customer service to the quality of the food, the experience here is four-star quality, Enjoy some warm bread and oil before your main course. Have a side salad to go along with your food. If you have a bad back, avoid sitting at the booth. If those booths were not all wood, then that would make it more comfortable.

Didn’t live up to the hype. But certainly a good value. Not the best Italian I’ve had but decent and it was fast. We made a reservation on a Friday night, that saved us some tone at the door for sure. Employees are all very nice, service was good, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Hard wood seats were disappointing, my side salad came plain, I ordered ceasar. Bread is bland for my taste. My son loved his pizza, my wife didn’t rave about the meal she had, and the lasagna was decent. Just ones opinion here, doesn’t make me the end all. We will try them again someday for sure.

In my opinion, one of the biggest drawbacks about Flagstaff is the lack of great Italian food here. While there are a lot of choices of good pizza,(BTW, the pizza here is great), we seem to be lacking in a great Italian place that serves truly good pasta dishes. Well look no further, because not only is this the best Italian restaurant in Flagstaff, it’s one of the best that I have ever visited. This place is usually very busy, so on the weekends it can definitely be too crowded and noisy, and I have been known to avoid this place in favor of a more quiet setting. However the quality of the food makes it a must not miss. I have ordered the caesar salad, the ziti, a side of meatballs, and the pizza. All of them were great, and I have never had a bad meal here. The caesar is fresh and has ample toppings and tastes great. The ziti is also pretty good. The sauce lacks a bite though, and is a little too sweet for my taste. The meatballs were also good, and tasted like they were homemade, however they didn’t gel well with the sauce in my opinion. However, the best part about coming here is the pizza. While you can find some of the pizza offerings on their menu online, it does not reflect their current offerings. First their pizza is wood fired and the crust resembles some of the better, more authentic crusts out there. I got a white pizza that had pistachios, spinach, sopressa, and brussel sprouts marinated in a mildly spicy chili sauce on top of it. It was a unique creation, and of course, extremely delicious. I must say, I am very impressed with this place. The food is great, but the parking and the noise level needs to be worked out. I think it would be great if it were open for lunch, but it is only open for dinner. **** Postscript ***** I just heard from John, the owner who said that Fat Olives is now open for lunch seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They serve a variety of fresh wood fired sandwiches called called paninos or sammies. He also said that they are working on improving the parking and that customers can park Title Loan parking lot as well as the church parking lot that is across 2nd Street. You can also park along 2nd Street as well.
