Found AZ Bikes after getting fed up with Absolute bikes on rt66. Went to AZ bikes to have a wheel trued and to have a sqeaky noise looked at. Bryce trued the wheel and advised me that he would not be able to have the sqeak looked at back to me for a week, it being Thanksgiving week. He advised I bring it back so I’d have my bike to ride for the week. I certianly appreciated that. Oh and the true, he charged me NOTHING. Had a wheel trued at Absolute(5 min) and they charged me $ 20 and another $ 7 for some Stans sealant.

Wanted to add my two cents. Middle-aged mom type, new triathlete. My husband goes to see Bryce for all his bike needs. I go on my own, and Bryce is super helpful and friendly — and it’s clear(to me anyway) that it’s all driven by a love of the bike and wanting to see people get on bikes. He taught me how to change a tire(on the fly — I just happened to be there during a lull and he showed me in five minutes), he’s fit me to my bike(changed the way I was riding the thing altogether), and other assorted stuff. I always feel comfortable walking in there — no problem that I am not a complete bike geek and half the time don’t know what I’m looking for. I highly recommend this place to other women who are a bit put off by the cool bike dude vibe of most bike places.

I am so glad that my favorite bike shop has reopened over on San Francisco St! I like the new location for its size, parking options, and for being located across the street from McGaugh’s Smoke & Bottle. It is a real time saver! I found my biking home at AZ Bikes over three years ago, when shopping for cruiser bike. They were not super popular in Flag yet, but after living and working in Yosemite, where these classic bikes were still enjoyed, I knew exactly what I wanted. The problem was that when I walked into Absolute Bikes, with cash in hand, they told me that I didn’t really WANT one. What I WANTED was a mountain bike. It would be too hard for me to ride my bike to work and back on flat terrain, without gears, blah, blah blah, and 5 more reasons later, I left empty handed. At AZ Bikes, I was greeted by the owner, Bryce. He did not try to convince me to get a rock hopper. He did ask me about where I would be riding and what my cycling needs were. He took time to explain my options.(Hey, what do you know, you can add a few gears onto a cruiser!) They had some sweet bikes in the shop which I checked out for fit, and they special ordered my particularly awesome pick. When I picked up my bike, they adjusted everything to work for me specifically. The mechanic noticed my mild scoliosis right away while I pedaled, gave me some good suggestions without making me feel embarrassed at all, and made sure my bike worked for me before I left with my sweet, sweet, «Peach Pony.» Since then, they have outfitted my bike with a super cool, old school«ching ching» bell, a pedal powered light system, which I could not find elsewhere, fixed my bike after an off road accident, and have fit me in for quick and free tune ups when I have been in town for a few hours. All the employees have treated me well, including a female mechanic. At the new shop, on San Fran, they have installed an espresso machine and share shots with anyone stopping in to chat about cycles. You can still fill your bike/baby buggy tires out front at the free pump. AZ bikes still makes custom frames and cycles, should you have particular wishes. They are fixing up a cruiser frame to fit my extra tall hubby, and when I get my sexy little rock hopper, it will be from this comfy, fun shop! ***I think it is worth mentioning that the boys at the ol’ shop were so in love with their gears, that I do not think they thought of much else. I sat in the back with them once, while they worked on my bike. They never even mentioned chicks. All they could talk about was gears, wheels, and trails, trails, trails. They made me feel welcome, even though I clearly don’t know crap about bikes.

I agree with the previous comment. The owner is a douchebag and the rest of the all male staff are misogynists. They clearly don’t like chicks there. I’ve purchased a couple of bikes there and the bikes are great, but I dread going in there for service because of the rude and dismissive way I’m always treated by the guys. So, I usually end up taking my Kona bikes to Absolute Bikes for basic service.
