I’ve only eaten here for bigger events, where the staff puts us in a separate party room all to ourselves. Each time I’ve been the food is rather good, although selection wise with a larger party always means the ‘3 entrée choice menu’ to choose from; so I cannot say I’ve tried much of what they have to offer. Normally its always chicken francese, prime rib, salmon choices. All are decent but no WOW factor. Their pop-overs though are a total hit and a MUST to try(I believe they come complementary with each meal?) Sometimes the service can be a bit slow, nothing major or course. One thing they need to absolutely work on is their water. Maybe a filtration system would be a good investment bc it tastes HORRIBLE. Like dirty hose mixed with copper. Not a fun bit to the meal especially when some in my family only drink water. Would love to try this venue in a more intimate meal setting so I can see what the other seafood meals are like. Also the bathrooms in the ‘party room’ are ridiculously small – keep in mind if you have older guests in your party or those with wheelchairs etc.

Our server, Shannon, was delightful and our food(for the most part) was too. After ordering some drinks and appetizers, our meal came. My steak was perfectly rare, but unfortunately, my husband’s chicken was too. He discovered this on the first bite and brought it to the attention of our waitress, who quickly and kindly brought it back to the kitchen. This, my friends, is where we get 3 stars instead of 5. The manager came over to «apologize,» whilst telling us that upon inspection, the chicken was indeed cooked through. He, very passively, explained that it was weird that we would send it back because the chef had been there for 16 years and always cooks the chicken perfectly. He proceeded to tell us how they massacred the chicken and none of it was raw. I have to say that we may still go back. Once the chicken was recooked, it was delicious! The service, food, and drinks are great, the only thing that can definitely use improvement is the management. Considering we very rarely return dishes, I feel the manager should have been a bit more accommodating and much less passive aggressive. *edit– I did forget to add that the manager gave us two comped desserts(both delicious), which was very kind, but his apology was not very genuine.

The only reason I give it 1 star is because I can’t put zero… the best thing about this place is that it’s clean, and the staff is friendly. I expected good food but had a tasteless meal. I had fish and chips that were tasteless and bland. My friend had the lobster roll and was completely disappointed as well. I would never return.

Had a great meal here. Greeted with warm popovers. Had the Crab Rangoons for an appy(free because we were staying at the nearby Hampton Inn). I had ribs and hubby had the stuffed sole. Both good. Nice Caesar salad and the mashed potatoes were real and yummy.

Went for a birthday dinner place was fairly slow. We were greeted and seated promptly. I had really high expectation as I was given a recommendation of this establishment. Waitress was friendly and let us know about specials of the day. Popovers and strawberry butter were served and I must say they left lot to be desired. Outside the popover was crispy and flaky but the inside was moist almost to the point of it tasted under cooked, so I was very disappointed and the butter was decent. Drinks were ordered and came out, a appletini and passion fruit margarita. They were tasty though the passion fruit flavor was lacking and tastes more like sour mix. Then appetizers of lobster bisque(just liquid not actual lobster in it) and onion rings(hot & crispy but tasteless). They were greasy and not good unfortunate for me as I wanted to like them. Then the Caesar salad/house salad mix came out. It had a strong horseradish flavor(which is bizzare in Caesar dressing), and adding carrots, red onions, cherry tomatoes, and green peppers are a strange pairing but it was a salad. Main entrees came and it was crab stuffed shrimp with garlic butter fries and BBQ ribs with a baked potato. The shrimp was decent the stuffing was okay, but it just didn’t hit the flavor pallet in a way that would make it a recommendation. The truffle fries was literally a whole potato cut into slices but it was tasty. The BBQ ribs were okay for being something they are known for I suppose it isn’t great comments. The BBQ sauce was passable but they are all forgettable. The baked potato was over cooked and dry. In the end I thought this would be a exclusive spot that I would keep in my pocket for the big events but I walked away full but feeling like I could of gone to a chain restaurant to have the same experience for half that price. Try it at your own discretion I personally could not recommend it with so many other places one could go.

If you like seafood, you would do well to try Hudson’s Ribs & Fish. The restaurant has a rustic and nautical vibe, with lots of fisherman-esque props adorning the walls. There’s even a small boat suspended from the ceiling. From the outside, the eatery looks small, but the inside is quite spacious. Instead of getting a plain old basket of bread, diners each get their own popover. These delightful treats are served with strawberry butter. I’m a fan of their plank salmon, which always tastes fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Their shrimp cocktail also makes for a tantalizing appetizer. The staff is prompt and friendly, and the menu has lots of options. I had an apple martini there once, and it was just like biting into a freshly picked apple. They take pride in the way their food and drinks are served, and it shows. If you are looking for a cozy environment in which to enjoy fresh and expertly prepared seafood, you owe it to yourself to try this restaurant. I’m going there tonight and I can’t wait!

I had to post a follow up review since my last visit/post wasn’t too favorable. I actually have been back 2x and both visits were enjoyable. The food was tasty and the service was friendly. Special thanks to management for immediately contacting us to assist. This speaks volumes.

Warning if you have food allergies to nuts avoid this restaurant. We dined here March 9th2015 for Hudson valley restaurant week. Prior to ordering I told the waiter that my wife had food allergies and what those allergies were, then told him what she wanted and if it was safe. He went and consulted with the head chef and came back and told me everything she wanted was safe. Upon finishing her meal she began to feel a itching and swelling in her mouth then proceeded to throw up violently in an attempt to rid herself of the contaminated food. I warn anyone with food allergies to stay away from this restaurant because the staff is clearly oblivious to the ingredients used in their dishes. The fact that the head chef was consulted prior to this occurring is especially troublesome. On top of that incident, I ordered their rib dish which I expected to be their specialty seeing as ribs is in the name of the restaurant but I was sadly mistaken. I would have been better off ordering ribs from Applebee’s, Ruby Tuesdays, TGIFridays or some other commercial American food restaurant. Their ribs were disappointingly small and dry, and resembled something you might see in the freezer of an Applebee’s. Their ribs had more bone than meat and the bones were smaller than my pinky finger. The Hudson Valley has a lot of very good restaurants in the area and its a wonder this place is still in business with all the other exceptional fine dining around it.

Have been to Hudson’s numerous times as my relatives live within a short distance and many family occasions have been celebrated there. We’ve also gone simply to have dinner. The service is really outstanding. The popovers and appetizers are excellent. The fish is always fresh and the ribs are prepared very well. Drink selection is excellent and prices are very reasonable. Comfortable atmosphere. Worth a try if you’re in the area. Parking is very easy.

I hope this was just a case of a replacement chef on a Wednesday night. The good: The service was excellent. Both the host(manager?) and our waitress were attentive and professional. The restaurant looked clean, the beer was cold, and the music was on point. The bad: Unfortunately, the food was just disappointing tonight. Their famous warm popovers were only so-so, not light and fluffy like I expected. My husband had the stuffed shrimp entrée, which was fine, though the«tropical» rice side was laughable. I had the chicken francaise. The chicken was overcooked and had very little flavor. I used some lemon from my husband’s meal and that was a big improvement. The verdict: we probably won’t be back… But the music was really quite good. :)

So my husband and I went here on 10÷30÷14. I am having a business dinner on Monday and I needed to make sure that I had somewhere nice to go. I do think I will choose this place for our Monday dinner meeting but the food was not completely perfect… Starter: I had the Ahi Tuna Sashima and it was beautiful — really tasty perfectly presented. My husband had the lobster bisque. The Bisque was disappointing. If someone had told us it was actually creamy vegetable soup with a fish stock cube I would have believed them. Dinner: I had the Rib Eye with garlic steak fries and a portion of green beans — this was delicious. It was cooked perfectly — medium the entire way through not just in the middle with the outside well done like you get in some places. the garlic steak fries were awesome and the green beans were just yum yum yum… My hubby had the sirloin and king crab — not a big portion of either given that you are paying $ 39.00 for it and his sirloin was incredibly chewy compared to my rib eye… Dessert: I had a delicious bailey’s coffee and my husband had his new favorite dessert a Mississippi Mud Pie. I would brush my teeth with that cake it was so nice… My other con(other than my hubby’s food not being great) was the dirty martini. I love a good dirty martini. i failed to read through the whole menu regarding how hudsons do a dirty martini but they use blue cheese stuffed olives. It was horrible(but my fault for not reading the menu) Looking forward to my leftover ribeye and steak fries with an egg for my breakfast this morning!!!

Once again returned to one of our favorites, Hudson’s Ribs and Fish We can always count on them to have a delicious dish The popovers came out with the strawberry butter, so supreme They were nice and warm, when we peeled them open, out came a puff of steam Melt in your mouth there is no treat that can compare Hudson Rib’s and Fish they make the best popovers… right there! The salad, family style served with romaine, croutons and seasoned with cheese A selection of onions, tomatoes, peppers and carrots to add if you please The creamy caesar dressing, outstanding, very tasty and home made We also tried the balsamic vinaigrette tasted exceptional, quality grade One of the main courses was the salmon with caponata and broccoli rabe The presentation, the taste, the quality, they do such an amazing job I had the pasta special, sausage, with broccoli rabe, sun dried tomatoes and mozzarella cheese Served over pasta, a most tasty dish, I was so very pleased. Beginning with the staff to the great dinners and the glass of our local Millbrook wine From start to finish it was an amazing evening that was so very nice and real fine If you haven’t been to Hudson’s, you should try to get there someday Their service, quality, meals and ambiance, so perfect in every way

Years ago My wife and I would frequently fine at Hudson’s, but after two awful meals in a row we stopped going. This year we decided to give it one more try. Overall it was disappointing, to say the least. Two beers on draft were sent back due to a foul taste. The popovers that are brought in place of bread were cold, but the strawberry butter was good. The family style salad was also fresh and crisp. The ribs that my son and I had were very nice, fall off the bone and nice taste, but the crab cake my daughter had was so-so and the fish and chips my wife had were obviously frozen and too greasy. Overall it was not a complete horror story, but it’s not what it once was. If I could add a half star I might, but it’s not 3 star worthy.

Better for ribs than fish. We’ve been there twice. The first time, we did ribs which were good but not great; however, we would go back for them. This time, fish. First, the good … the ahi tuna sashimi appetizer was very nice. The bad … the crab cake. Very disappointing. The accompanying two shrimp and one scallop were a bit overcooked but edible. The alleged crab cake was what I would expect at a roadside diner in Kansas. Mostly filler and seasoning, certainly no ‘lump’ crab. It appears they used the same mix as stuffing for my friend’s stuffed sole, which she thought was okay overall. Service is cordial and accommodating, but at times very slow, even though there were only a handful of occupied tables. We will keep this on our ‘occasional’ list for whenever we are on the east side of the Hudson.

Hudson’s is my wife and my favorite nice restaurant. Their steaks are great and the pop over breads are yummy. Good beer and wine selection. Very nice staff. Boathouse type atmosphere with maps on tables and such. Dimly lit and usually pretty quiet, so it’s nice for a nice soft evening dinner.

Can’t believe this place only has 3.5 stars. Boyfriend and I went here for a lunchtime celebration of our one-year anniversary, and afterwards, we really rethunk our prejudices(well, okay, –I– rethunk –my– prejudice) against suburbia cuisine. The nautical décor is admittedly cliché, but who cares when the food is that tasty and well-prepared. If I remember correctly, we ordered the prime rib, the sirloin(rib-eye was not an option that day, I believe), and the calamari. Our meal started with that strawberry butter and the most delectable, perfectly baked popovers you’ll ever eat. It’s what those purported New York popover«specialists» wish they could be but are most undeniably not: Baked to a slight crackle on the outside, soft and deliciously moist(that’s right, I said MOIST) on the inside, with just enough salt for that plain-enough-to-pair-well-with-butter-yet-still-good-on-its-own standalone savoriness. Then the calamari… it was all we could do to stop ourselves from gorging on the calamari in time for our steaks. Finally, the steaks. A perfect red-throughout-middle, medium-rare steak for me. I can’t say I’ve really seen even steakhouses in the city get medium-rare this right(for one thing, I feel like most of my steaks turn out more medium than medium-rare). I still would have preferred my go-to rib-eye and all its customary marbled goodness, but I really wasn’t disappointed by the spot-on cooking of the steak and appreciated that it wasn’t bogged down with miscellaneous seasonings and sauces and what have you. Additional notes: Super-friendly service. Huge portions. I think I had Hudson’s R&F leftovers for the two or three meals following.

Nice night out. Food was great, as were the drinks(seafood far diavlo and hudsontini). Only three stars because it took an hour to get our food. Have been here before on a Sat nite and it didn’t take anywhere near that long. Also the brownie in the fudge nut brownie was too hard.

good booze & good looking waiters! A little pricey but fresh fish & they serve this strawberry whipped butter with bread. I was with a party of 5 for a birthday and they squeezed us in no problem. One of the nicer places in fishkill!
