This place is great. What a good concept. I enjoyed starting my book I’m reading with some wine and finishing with a nice coffee. Starbucks beware!

This is a great place to grab a drink with some friends! They always have new beers on tap, I do wish they had a selection of ciders though. The bartender is always friendly/helpful in deciding what beers to try. They have a menu, too, which is pretty good. I tried the hummus, which you get regular, feta, and roasted red pepper… all delish! My boyfriend got the turkey club, which was great. Overall, we’ve been there a few times and will definitely be back!

Although I haven’t gotten food here, I have tried a few drinks. Their coffee is delicious. It’s great to be able to go in, throw down a few bucks and serve yourself. The staff is super friendly. We had a delicious wine and wanted to know the name of it — the waitress not only let me take a pic but I also walked away with the bottle after she finished it off. Good artists roll through there often. Go check them out for a relaxing and fun night.

This local institution is a must for those of us who want to support unique and local brands. I would much rather spend my money here than at Starbucks any day of the week. Moreover, they have beer so they get to compete with the local pubs. In this arena, they hold their own niche. No TVs means few bros.

UPDATE: We went during the evening for drinks and it was a disaster. Very few people working the bar side, crowded, stuffy(in more ways than one) and we left without drinks after 45 min of waiting. Plus, from what I have heard, not that great to devoted staff. Haven’t been back. —- Coffee isn’t strong because it’s fresh and not overcooked, but truth be told, I kinda like my strong coffees. I ordered a breakfast sandwich(bacon, egg and cheese) on ciabatta and it was pretty bland and boring. I recommend they come up with a signature sauce, aioli or similar, but don’t serve it like it is because it isn’t making an impact. Bleh – I didn’t even finish it. French press is a must-have and for an atmosphere like this would be wonderful to offer guests. For those having coffee in, I recommend serving in glass cups instead of paper for refills. I love their concept of inviting local talent, artists and such to entertain guests. Great idea and they should continue this venture by bringing in signature dishes and drinks made by or sourced from local farms, breweries, wineries and artisans. While I do love the atmosphere, they’re going to have to step up the food and drink offerings to keep people coming back. Think Petite Chou in Broad Ripple — they have signature salads, coffees and sandwiches that you crave… use that«crave» concept and customers will keep coming back for more.

Loved the new menu! I had the chicken salad in a lettuce wraps and my husband had the smoky barbecue sandwich and both were fantastic. Prices were very reasonable and the homemade kettle chips with their barbecue sauce are delicious.

This place is a beacon of light in the darkness of chain coffee shops. Comfortable, clean, tasty food, excellent coffee. Try the cactus chili! It’s my favorite :)

I really love this new gem that @SHOPRETRO101 introduced me to. Beer, coffee, and tea all in one inviting place. Near 116th and Hague, I would go out of my way to meet north side friends here anytime. At or near 5pm, we’ll have to decide which side of Hearthstone to go… alcohol or coffee.

I really want to like this place… but I have been several times and leave disappointed every time. The prices are way too high for the quality of their coffee and food. I have tried several food items(sandwiches, meat and cheese plate, chicken tenders) and they all taste like they were warmed up in a microwave. I can’t figure out if some of the cashiers are dumb or stoned. Last time I was there, the cashier told me he used to work at Taco Bell(?!) Plus, there is never anywhere to sit and it gets too loud. I would rather take my business to Starbucks. The fireplace is nice though.

I really wish I didn’t live almost an hour away. This would be the greatest local coffee shop hangout. Beer Booze Coffee and Tea! The back bar area although small is cozy with a decent tap list. The mixed boozy cocktails with chai or coffee’s were really good. I was tipsy shortly afternoon thanks to this delightful stop! This place is like a mullet(but in a good way) Business in the front and party in the back! It’s the type of place that when I am working on grad school stuff I would study up front for a bit, then go back and celebrate my hard work with a well deserved beverage.

Hits that just right vibe of coffee house comfort. Abundant, cozy seating(not a bunch of tables with stiff backed chairs) and great lighting. Their pastries are locally sourced from such places as the Flying Cupcake and La Torte and they are all great little smackerals of goodness. They offer single origin coffees by pour-over and french press and I experienced some true coffee bliss here while savoring a tiramisu from La Torte. I look forward to adding to this review when I return to try out more of the coffee and to visit the pub part of this business. I truly expect more great visits in the future.

Nice little coffee shop to meet someone, they have soy and almond milk, if you are vegan or lactose-intolerant. I got a hot chocolate with almond milk it was pretty good. They serve it in a clear beer mug, I thought that was cute! Food… felt overpriced. Not some place I would come if you are hungry. The«flatbread» is basically a pita bread base. They have a bar section on the other side of he coffee area.

It’s hit and miss with this place. On some days I go, I’m impressed by the food and drinks — and I love the concept of coffee AND a bar; I’ve only seen it in Louisville, KY –and other days I’m singularly unimpressed. The first time I tried a pumpkin spice latte, I was disappointed. The next time, it was acceptable, but not great. Their apple cider is nothing more than a pump of syrup and hot water(seriously? I can get a gallon of real apple cider for $ 4, and you’re charging $ 3.25 for a medium squirt of syrup and hot water?), but then they make up for it by offering large samples of their red velvet cupcake. Given their prices, I would hope for more consistency in their quality, and that the quality would be higher, but I’m still a fan and will continue to have the occasional meeting in here.

There’s always an extended wait to get your drink/food…which is overpriced, and mediocre, at best. There’s SO much potential there, but everytime I’m there I hear«Sorry about the wait, we’ve got new management/wait staff/whatever». I’m not a fan, but I wish they’d get their act together so I could be.

I went here last weekend to watch a local singer. I’m not a big fan of coffee houses as they are a tad dingy, cramped and hipstery for me, but I thought I’d check it out. Packed into a strip mall area, it’s a great size and doesn’t have the cramped nature of coffeehouses. The front is a pretty standard coffee store and I’m not a coffee drinker, so it’s all Greek to me. On the other side of the place is a smaller, but equally nice pub area. It’s stocked with local beers on tap so I was able to drink something I enjoyed. The service was great, very attentive and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I didn’t get a chance to try any food, I’ll need to do that next time I go there, but it was a great experience for drinking a beer and listening to music.

First off, for the sake of impartiality, I have to admit my bias here: I love coffee shops that serve beer. Especially draft beer. Especially good draft beer. I’m willing to do almost anything to support a coffee shop that sells beer. Hearthstone has good coffee, excellent draft beer and a comfortable sitting environment. Where I would ding them would be the food selection, which is a little sparse. You’re basically looking at a few sandwiches, a couple of flatbread breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and flatbread pizzas. They have a couple of salads as well. Nothing to get excited about, but it’s also not bad. I mean, if you’re really hungry, it’s not like there are no restaurants around. They do have very good desserts though. Pies, cookies, brownies, etc. If you’re throwing calories to the wind, you could always get a brownie and an Old Rasputin imperial stout. And I should mention some specifics on the draft list: Flat 12, Sun King, Stone, People’s, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel and a house draft made by People’s were on tap the last time I was there. They change out regularly and, on Tuesday, everything that’s been put on tap that week goes to $ 3. Drafts run from $ 4 to $ 6 depending mostly on their alcohol content, but the $ 3 applies to everything. But you can, unfortunately, only drink beer so often. And this functions as a very good coffee house as well. It’s wide open, comfortable, and the staff are always nice. Coffee is from a local roaster and tends to be very good.

This was my first time here and without a doubt it won’t be my last. I was lucky enough to score one of the cozy leather chairs by the fire and spent the afternoon reading and drinking coffee. Their coffee was a little strong but I tend to be a wimp so I’m sure it would be perfect for most everyone else. I ordered their chocolate flavored coffee and the smell was intoxicating. I liked the idea of having coffee on one side and beer on the other. I also loved the variety of cool activities they have with the live music and various tastings. My only complaint was that the carpet by the fire was really dirty and in desperate need of a vacuum. Other than that, it was great!

First time here and I have to say, I like the concept. Nice fireplace, inviting and cozy chairs to enjoy your drink and read a book… which is exactly what I did today. I like the idea of having someplace local that competes with Starbucks in quality and a generally speaking a cool place to hang out. So for starters let’s review what I liked. 1. the fire place. as stated, very cozy 2. the fact the not only serve coffee and coffee related beverages, but they also have a full service bar on the flipside. 3. coffee was average with that said, a little constructive criticism 1. person taking my order didn’t seem to know what a french press is and on top of that; 2. they don’t have a french press.(this was disappointing, for a joint promoting itself as specializing in coffee and not providing french press as an option to enjoy their coffee was… well disappointing. I hope they get this soon. I recommend taking notes from Tulip Noir(or even Starbucks) where they give you the press to enjoy at your leisure at your table. 3. the décor was nice, but(with a wince) a little dirty. The trash needed to be changed in both the public area as well as the bathroom. The floor was a little shabby too. Nothing that would deter me from returning, but definitely noticed. Overall, I like it and will be coming back. I think I could settle into a routine of swinging by on Saturday mornings for a coffee(hopefully french pressed) and a little reading.

Great place! Wonderful coffee, wonderful atmosphere, nice people and fun concept. Coffee, food, beer and a full bar!
