Escapades Boutique

I stopped by Escapades today for the first time. I found a few cute items that I would probably wear occasionally, but aren’t what I would consider everyday wear — like a really cute leopard print jacket. It was really cute, but the $ 299 price tag was way too much for me to spend!
A lot of the clothing that I saw in here today was really flashy, and not exactly versatile wardrobe staples. Several metallic blazers were spotted! I’m sure they are well-​made, but they didn’t seem to fit into either the wear-​it-​for-​years-​to-​come wardrobe staple category nor did they look exactly trendy to me. So I am not sure where they fall.
I hoped they might carry some designer jeans that might appeal to me, but what I found was the Not Your Daughter’s Jeans — the original Tummy Tuck jeans. I’ve read about how great these are in several magazines, but think that I will hold off… for a few years anyway!
The woman working when I stopped in was really friendly, I think perhaps she was the owner. There were a few items that I liked a lot more than the metallic blazers, but for the most part, I would never drop that kind of cash on what they had in stock on this particular day.

Honestly, I didn’t expect to find anything in this little shop when I entered. I picked up a pair of Kenneth Cole sunglasses that were really cute, but wow, too pricey for me (I am hard on my shades, do I buy inexpensive ones). As I started to look around, though, I began to see several items that made me think, «I’d wear that!» Now let me just go on record here about the fact that I am indeed «older» so yes, this place is probably more geared to women of or near my generation… but it is by no means «old lady» or «stuffy» — in fact, I found a super cute Karen Kane dress and wonderful little «Jeans Votre Nom» casual jacket (looked awesome with my jeans), both at a major discount that are quite fashionable. And, better yet, they fit and flatter me the way good, quality clothes should. And that’s the key about Escapades, this a shop with the «quality, taste and style» items that style guru Tim Gunn raves about. I did spy some great accessories here as well, but remained disciplined.
I was warmly received at Escapades even though I was very casually dressed and not looking at all «chic» — assistance was immediate without being overbearing and both women working at the shop took the time to talk with me about my selections in a manner that never, ever seemed like they were «all about the sale»…
