This campsite is directly on top of the highway. Fall asleep to the sounds of big rigs going 90 mph while you bathe in he neon glow of the Conoco sign. I cannot believe that anyone would camp here a second time. This place sucks.

This is super close to I-25 so highway noise is very loud and prevalent. You can read the prices on the gas station signs from this park. No joke. Additionally, it is expensive to camp for what is offered and the park ranger was really rude to us. He was a jerk during check in, which should have just been a sign that we should have turned around and gone elsewhere. We live nearby, but will absolutely never camp here again. If the CO State Parks Dept is smart, they will fire that guy before he chases away additional revenue. The park ranger named Rick was very nice, so it wasn’t him that was the issue.

Best in the off season from camping and fishing, and I do realize they are the main attractions here. I prefer to go there to walk the dogs and view the birds. Almost always see a Bald Eagle or two. Good place to view waterfowl and other migratory species. Observed a large flock of turkeys recently. There are a couple ponds for artificial bait only, want to try those this year. You can get a 2 to 3 mile walk here.

It’s close to the highway but a very nice and clean state park. Two of large loops seperate camping from electric only to full hookups. The full hookups area has very few trees but the spaces tend to be somewhat separated. The electric only side has some trees and a river that flows thru the area. Fishing is nice there are plenty of lakes to do it. Wildlife is nice as well, lots of birds to watch while relaxing. Road noise dies out in the evening bit really depends on your spot and the proximity to the highway. Very clean and proximity to Denver make is a nice place to camp.

Ok so it’s close to the highway but fan drowns out traffic. For the most part never know. Full hook ups, super friendly and helpful host. Clean, really clean. Lots of trails around the many lakes. Will be back. Great for a quick getaway.
