We enjoyed a beautiful Spring afternoon here on the patio with some cheese and crackers after a delightful wine tasting. Very enjoyable experience all the way around, the owner was more than happy to share his knowledge of growing and cultivating, and why he mixed certain varietals together. The views are amazing, the wine was very good, if you are in the area, stop in.

Beautiful setting in the Virginia countryside, just outside the town of Fincastle. The area was still adjusting from the massive storm that passed through the area — lots of trees and poles down and power company teams working in the downtown area.
The winery was still on generator power but that didn’t stop them from providing wines for tasting. Since we were pressed for time we only tasted their reds and found the Cab Franc and Trinity blend to be very good. Once again, this winery also had tents set up for weekend music events.
Contrary to the review by David R. we used a GPS and had no problem in locating the winery. In fact, the GPS was our friend for every winery even though I had scoped out locations from the VA wine map.

Great place to relax, drink wine, listen to live music, enjoy beautiful scenery. If you want to drink home grown wine in Botetourt County this is the place to go.

This winery is part of the Botetourt County Wine Trail – three wineries high in the Blue Ridge Mountains (the others are Fincastle and Blue Ridge), north of Roanoke. These wineries are off I-​81, but don’t rely on a GPS to find them. USE A MAP. But Virginia wine lovers will be rewarded with fine wine at good prices. Virginia Mountain Vineyards, like others in this region of Virginia, has ample land to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature. This winery makes an excellent Rose (roses are making a comeback in VA), Traminette, and something called «Holiday Spice,» which you can warm up in a crockpot and serve as mulled. It’s delicious.
