I had so much fun at this year’s Down the Shore Party. It was my first time, and the zombie luau theme was a lot of fun. This was one of those events I didn’t mind spending $ 80 for. There was plenty of food and drinks, and I didn’t feel like I was fighting with a crowd to get to them. Food highlights: raw tuna with seabeans, the seared tuna, the mahi mahi and spam bun, and the pork that was served as the main course. I mostly drank the piña colada type drink and the watermelon frozen option. Some utensils would have been handy for the apps, as some were very difficult to eat with your hands. The weird strip tease that happened at the end of the night was unnecessary, but the Thriller dance was awesome. I’ll definitely be back next year.

Ain’t no party like a Zahav party! While this wasn’t my favorite of the two Down the Shore parties I’ve attended(that title goes to year one, which featured a Jersey shore/boardwalk theme), it was still a night to remember… well, what parts I do remember, anyway. The drinks were plentiful and included zombie-friendly concoctions such as the bath salts cocktail. I stuck mostly with the free-flowing Harpoon, but once the kegs were kicked and the punch bowls were empty, the bartenders freestyled behind the bar and came up with something really tasty for me that had tequila. I think this is where the night started to get hazy. The photo booth was an awesome touch and the band played a ton of summertime songs. I wasn’t crazy about some of the food but what I did love was the raw tuna bar in the side room. Props also to the chefs who came up with those delicious chicken wings and the seared tuna on fried rice thingy. It may take me until next year’s party to truly recover, but I’ll be raring to go once again. Well done, Zahav!

Apparently Zahaz has had a themed 4th of July party the past three years. This year was a zombie luau. The drinks were fine. The food was ok. But the night was 100% ruined for me due to a THREEHOURWAIT for zombie makeup. I know that sounds like a strange review. But it’s just an idea that if you have a themed party with several hundred people ANDYOUCHARGE $ 75 per ticket, hire more than one makeup artist. It was just very poorly planned.
