The owner is super nice and always has rolls of quarters available if you need change. I’ve never had a problem with the machines and have never had to wait for a machine. And, I disagree with the low-star reviews — I think it’s perfectly reasonable to ask people not to bring in their dripping laundry and restrict the dryers’ use to customers who have used the washers!

When my apartment building’s two coin operated dryers both failed to work after I’d already completed a load of wash, I lugged my heavy wet laundry bin to White Seal Cleaners & Laundromat as it was the closest available to my apartment. While I was helpfully greeted by an attendant upon arrival, my experience quickly soured when he explained, by pointing to a large sign posted on the wall, that the dryers were only for use by customers who had also used the facility’s washing machines prior. I asked why they had this rule, and he explained that it was so there would be enough dryers for their customers who were also washing. I asked if I could pay for a wash in addition to the dryer, but only use the dryer. I was told no. And so, dejected, I lugged my bin of wet laundry back into the cold to return to my computer in order to search Unilocal for another option. While I can’t rate the performance of the machines in this facility, I’m giving it 2-stars for its un-helpful inaccessible policies.

I go to this Laundromat all the time, and I have always had a great experience here. It’s the cleaner one in walking distance and the owner is always friendly and accessible in both shops, which are joined, to give change or information on the washers and dryers. I remember I had never used the large washer in another laundromat, and if he hadn’t come up and told me that it had 2 rinse cycles, I’d probably still be using the wrong amount of detergent for that machine. It’s true, that in order to dry there, you need to wash your cloths there, but do you honestly want to be sitting, waiting for your laundry when someone struggles through the door with a lump of sopping wet laundry and the water drips all over the floor where you’re sitting? The chairs are by the door, by the way, so you’d basically just have to sit with the water lurking towards your feet until you or someone else cleaned it up. I completely understand why the owner has that rule. I was honestly just googling this place to get the number to make sure they were open, when I saw it had one star up on Unilocal, because the only person that reviewed it had a bad experience. Not really sure how it was then, but based off of my experience, one star definitely doesn’t do it justice. Especially when you consider that it’s basically a one man show. I honestly think the other person just had a bad day.

Honestly, I’ve never used their dry cleaning services, or their laundromat. But this is why… I live around the corner and the coin-op dryer in my building was broken– so I took a couple loads to White Seal to dry them. The man running the place refused to give me change for the machines, he said that I «can only dry if I wash there– gas is too expensive.» So if you do you’re laundry there I guess you’re being overcharged by the washers to compensate for the gas bill, or the guy is just a prick. Either way– with at least five other dry cleaners and laundromats in the area I really see no reason to ever go back.
