I’ve been to Warmdaddy’s at least once, and enjoyed their food and the atmosphere. However, for the reasons outlined below, I will not be return. In summation, their customer service needs some work, or their front of the house employees need better training. We had a reservation for 7:30 pm this past Friday(6⁄10) to celebrate a close friend’s birthday. When making the reservation, I let the girl know that we were coming from about 40 min away, and that our car would be leaving at 7pm. She let me know that there would be a 15 min grace period before the reservation is released, which is fine. I understand that the 15 min grace period for reservations is relatively standard in the restaurant industry. At 7:30 pm the day of our reservation, we called the restaurant while en route to let them know we would be there within 15 min. At exactly 7:46, our car pulled up, my fiancé jumped out to claim our table, and he was promptly turned away by the hostess with not so much as an attempt to accommodate us with alternate seating or anything else. Turned completely off, we drove to nearby Moshulo where they were happy to accomodate us. That was $ 300+ we spent on dinner that night that Warmdaddy’s missed out on on account of a rude and less than accommodating hostess.

The Soul Collective was awesome… We bought 2 CDs. I’m giving 4 stars because we like the company. The issue today is the food was great but we never knew who our server was; We had 3. Also the gave us a check without asking if we were happy, or did we want dessert. Come on now

Well here we go, where do I began? I figured that I would try Warmdaddys since it was my birthday and I’ve never been before… so me and a friend of mine decided to make the one hour trip to try the spot out and see what all the hype is all about… well we had a reservation at 5:00 and since we were in traffic about 45min in we couldn’t get there to about 5:40…well when we got there finally, my reservation was gone… after we called in and asked to hold our table, the person on the other line said that they can hold the table for another twenty min. OK fine… obviously we couldn’t get there in twenty min driving those Philly streets and trying to find the place… well by the time we got there, we explained to the host that I had a reservation but was pushed back because of traffic, well the gentlemen couldn’t find my name, come to find out that it was taking off because we were late… um okay! So we were told to wait so that the staff and find a table for us… then some chubby chick with a horrible weave comes over and shows us our table, but before that, she starts lecturing us on calling if were going to be late, um try answering the phone next time sweetie! Anyway, when we were finally seated, we had to wait another twenty min to get any service… well the gentlemen finally showed up and didn’t know we were his table… so far all this just ruined my experience with this place. when we finally ordered our food, which was very quick by the way, I was impressed by the presentation, but not taste… I ordered the low country catfish with candid yams and collard greens… the fish was good but the yams were canned and the greens were vinegary, Overall the place is just ok… not sure if I wanna come back though… customer service is not up to par for someone who drove an hour to enjoy her birthday!!!

Umm there’s no Etoufeé in the etoufeé. This is not New Orleans style. This is blackened fish with tomato bisque Music and service was great… But my meal wasn’t. I’d return for drinks only.

So our plan was to enjoy an evening on the patio, with some good food and convo. I live in Philly and have never been to Warm daddy’s. From the beginning our server had some trouble attending to us. Not a very warm personality. No welcoming statement, brought us a pan of corn bread with no plates, utensils or napkins. We did receive water, but she never came to refill our glasses, so after I drank my water, my cup remained empty until we left, lol. When we asked for napkins they gave us the restroom paper towels that you pull out of the wall dispenser. However we did enjoy the ambiance of the patio seating, thus the 2 stars. The manager was very attentive, we had to ask him for condiments, he kindly brought them. I ordered the glazed salmon, sorry to say it was not well seasoned, it tasted like plain salmon placed on a grill, with glazed sauce brushed on the top. Finally at the end of the night our server noticed us and stated that she was sorry for neglecting us. My expectations were higher than what we received. Would I go back? Maybe for drinks and some good music.

First time having soul food and I must say… Wow! Great food and Great environment. The live band was exceptionally great. I’d highly recommend anyone to try this place especially since we’re always used eating the same ethnic food… This will get your palette and taste bud a warm welcome. My wife had the fried chicken meal… As for my self, I had the chicken and waffles. Woot. It was excellent and stuffing. Thanks you to the manager that walked us to our table.

Fantastic service! I don’t k ow what other reviewers experienced, but I forgot I was in South Philly and thought I was in the Deep South! Fantastic food… and don’t forget the cornbread!(Even typing about it makes me want to go back for more!) Absolutely plan on needing reservations on nights with good music!

Warmdaddy’s had what makes you want to go to go out and eat a restaurant and then it had what makes you avoid restaurants. Decided while I was in Philly to check it out because I remember seeing this place as I went to the movies next to it a few months back. The first thing I thought was«what kind of name is this?» So it stuck with me so much that I decided to eat there. This was a Saturday afternoon around 3. The hostess, and I use that term loosely, asked if reservations were made. OK. Simple question but the next thing is what surprised me. I looked around and there were plenty of empty seats but upon finding a seat the hostess said that you had to be finish by 5. For real? This made me want to eat slower and see what will go down if I don’t finish by 5. If it comes down to being warned because that is how she came across I would suggest a more tactful way of coming across. Now that I just wrote above what irks me about going to restaurants I will tell you what, or rather who, made this place bearable after my initial experience of coming in this establishment for the first time. Our server was Ashley and she was awesome. Hey Awesome Ashley to the rescue. She had only been working there for three weeks but you could not tell as she was very attentive and had a great attitude that I wished could have been showed at the door. Hint, hint. I went with jambalaya and decided to go with cheese grits, and collard greens as my side items. I have to admit the jambalaya was pretty good and a bit different from what I am use to. I will say that this is the first time I ever had mussels in jambalaya and it had the look of paella more than traditional jambalaya. Nevertheless it was prepared very well with just the right amount of mussels, spicy sausage, crab meat and shrimp to balance it all out. The spice was not overbearing and killing your taste buds with heat and saltiness. The cheese grits were just the way I like my grits. Not soupy but with a little body so you could eat it with a fork. The collards were good. They were real greens. What I mean by that is that I think someone was in the back cutting greens after they washed it in the sink. Some of you know what I am talking about but some of you who just know of can collards don’t know what I am saying. I did taste a hint of sugar also. I asked the server who brought the food out for some vinegar. Five minutes later my greens were still without vinegar but luckily Ashley came to check on how things were going. I asked for the vinegar and she comeback very quickly and that was much appreciated. Overall the food I selected was good. Just from my first experience I would come back for food here if I am in the area. I just have to remember to be gone by 5. I will give this place a 3.5(if I could) but service from Ashley a 5. I never write reviews this soon but I hope the managers/owners read this to see that great service by your employees are truly appreciated.

I finally went here with my wife last Saturday, and overall the place is nice and the waiter was very nice, but my food tasted like it was microwaved and it tasted too much like regular home food I was expecting different, and my mashed potatoes wasn’t that hot and tasted a little bland, and we were annoyed because they ran out of peaches for the cobbler in the middle of a non busy Saturday, again the place is nice but I may not go here again!

I’m so glad I discovered this place. GREATVIBES! I’m a lover of live music so this place was perfect. They had a great band and the singer had a great voice – I was jamming all night! and the food was so good too. We had the sampler for the appetizer – everything was good on it. Especially the jerk chicken rolls – they had collard greens in them! I was also able to try my aunts fried chicken and it was perfectly fried and flavorful. I will deff be back when I’m in the area. Come on a Tuesday too! It’s so live.

We went to WarmDaddy’s yesterday for their Sunday brunch. When we arrived we were asked if we had reservations. I told the receptionist, that we did not. We were told that we would have to wait 45 minutes to be seated at that we could sit at the bar in the meantime. Now this would be understandable if there weren’t about 10 empty tables and no line. I asked why we had to wait when there were empty tables and was told that there were people coming for 1pm reservations and that if some of them didn’t show up by 1:15 we could be seated. It was 12:30. I came to figure out why later. In the meantime, reluctantly, we decided to sit at the bar. It was quite an uncomfortable situation because the buffet was right next to the bar so the entire time we were constantly being bumped by other patrons. When the receptionist walked by, I asked her if she could be sure to inform us if some of the reservations didn’t show up. She assured me, while speaking with a nasty attitude but she never notified me of any empty tables at 1:15 and we stayed long enough to know that some of the reservations didn’t show up. While we ate our brunch(the food is just okay by the way), we noticed their business practices. Basically they have mass seatings for their brunch. They emptied out the entire section before 1pm and then at 1pm they allowed all those with reservations to be seated all at once. I think it’s poor business. It didn’t take us long to eat brunch and we could have had a nice seating arrangement until those with 1pm reservations showed up instead of sitting by the bar during the time that they changed over brunch seatings. It made for a disappointing experience. There are way too many places in Philly to eat good food and have great service. I’ll never go back.

Finger licking good, slap your mama good food! Not that you should ! The ambiance is festive paired with the huge welcoming bar and gracious staff. I had the pleasure of meeting the Manager Michael who was what you call customer service dreams. He told us not only the back history of the restaurant but broke down elements of the dishes with warm banter and good cheer, he was very helpful in helping to navigate our dining experience. Our wonderful waitress was equally as accommodating and friendly. My Georgia Peach drink served in a Mason Jar was equally as yummy as the food. It was true blue comfort food made to render you comatose after your graze was finalized.

Do not book a reservation to this place through Opentable. Call direct. I made a reservation on March 6th, and just received a cancellation notice today at 3/30PM. I initially gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but after researching more with Opentable I found: «If you did not cancel your booking, but you received an email cancellation notice, then the restaurant has recorded your party as a ‘cancellation’ in their electronic reservation book. This could have been done by accident or if an issue suddenly affected the restaurant’s ability to serve you.» So unfortunately I’m faulting Warm Daddy’s because more then likely, they either overbooked or accidentally cancelled. It’s just upsetting when you book something that far in advance, look forward to it, and it’s taken away without any explanation; and if they did mistakenly cancel, of course they are booked up now.(This was my birthday weekend as well)

At Warmdaddy’s celebrating a co-worker’s retirement. Decided to order the shrimp & grits appetizer. At first, I was a little skeptical that there would be too much cheese in the dish. Adding calories galore. However, the cheese in the grits were minimal & delicious however the shrimp although tasty, were a tad small. The menu here is a assortment of soul comfort foods that fills your tummy and your spirit alike. Multiple choices for those who are carnivores as well as vegetarians. But not sure if all items are high in the calories. Warmdaddy’s also has a area for entertainment which is located on the first floor. The space accommodates bands, poets, comedians, etc for an eclectic mix of merriment for various audiences. A cool place to hang out for music and food in a relaxed environment.

I would have given this place 5 star of not for the inconsistencies. I came here before I was a Unilocaler. I had a great experience. Unfortunately, this time was extremely different they ran out of turkey wings before 8pm on a Tuesday! I was happy with food that was available. I was offered the check before I was able order dessert. I asked for the pineapple upside down bread pudding. My server said the were all out and offered me the cheesecake on the house. I delcined her offer to comp the cheesecake. I insisted on paying, before leaving I had to ask for the manager. You could tell he wasn’t experienced in guest service. Instead of coming over apologetic he was in fact combative. He kept over explaining it was completely unprofessional. I’m sure he had no idea that his demeanor was inappropriate. Hospitality training is a must in the service industry. The food is good but service can be slow and if you give feedback be sure to get ready for a fight.

My husband and I came here for valentines day and we were slightly disappointed, there were issues from the time we walked in which should have signaled us to leave. When we walked in we were told that there was a $ 25/person cover charge for the restaurant bc there was live music that night. Well naturally we were annoyed bc the hostess did not mention the cover charge when we made the reservation over the phone. We thought about leaving but it was already after 9p and finding another place to eat would have been nearly impossible We were seated fairly quickly and entered the very tight dining room space… I mean I get it the goal is to make money so you cram as many tables and chairs in as possible but it was just to tight and uncomfortable, it was also really cold so we kept our jackets on. We were greeted by a nice waitress who remained pleasant throughout the evening but was often difficult to find. They bought out complimentary cornbread that was very good. Then we attempted to order. The initial dish I wanted was no longer available so I got the bbq salmon and my husband ordered the fried chickens dinner. we also ordered the mac n cheese to share. The food took a long to come out so we were hoping to enjoy the live music we paid to listen to. They said the music would start at 9:30 but they did not start until 10:00p. And while they were amazing as well as the highlight of the night, they only played for 45mins! Again we were annoyed that we paid $ 50 for less than an hr of music. Anyway on to the food. The salmon was fresh but lacked in flavor, it was not seasoned well. The collard greens had good flavor and a slight spice but had huge stems in them which is a no no. I ordered the candied yams(my husband did also) and we both thought they had an overly sweet and burnt taste to them. I Sent them back for rice that turned out to be overcooked. I had a taste of my husbands chicken which was also over cooked and lacked seasoning. Lastly, the mac n cheese was actually delicious it was seasoned and very cheesy and served in a skillet, Our waitress offered us a free dessert for my birthday which we accepted and the red velvet cake was amazing… unfortunately she charged us for it after saying it would be free. We were so tired of waiting around that we paid the bill and took the cost of the cake out of her tip Definitely not returning I would rather go to Relish in Philly.

Got to the restaurant just as it opened for dinner yesterday(Sunday, 1÷31÷2016) and along with my companion, were promptly seated in the near empty restaurant. Before long our server came along and took our order, my date ordered the fried catfish with candied sweet potato and collard greens, while I ordered the fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. We also ordered two drinks, strawberry lemonade and diet coke with lemon. The food was served within 20 minutes, which was great. Not so great was that my fried chicken dinner somehow became the catfish dinner. Our server was nowhere to be seen,(someone else brought the food), so I opted to just eat it since I hadn’t had anything to eat all day, rather than send it back to the kitchen. 10 minutes into the meal and still our server was nowhere to be seen… same for our drinks and our cornbread. 15 minutes later and we finally spot her, another few minutes and finally our drinks and cornbread join the party. My date requested lemons for her diet Coke… which the server never brought, we had to flag down another server to get them. I requested a refill on the lemonade, only to be told«normally there is no free refill, but since there was the problem with your food, this one is on me.» All told it was on OK experience, as the food was really good. The cornbread was among the best I’ve ever had. We brought some home and polished it off watching TV. Aside from the food however, the service was really poor. I’m not advocating for any action against our server, maybe she was new, or simply inept, but she was really inattentive to us, beginning with apparently getting the order wrong, not checking back, not bringing our drinks on time, not even coming to get the bill in a timely fashion. This made for a really disappointing first time experience at Warmdaddy’s. Not really sure I’ll waste my time returning.

My father and I went to the Sunday jazz brunch at warm daddy’s today and it was a much better experience than my previous visit. The buffet was restocked frequently, the food was phenomenal(especially the honey cornbread and cheese grits) but most importantly the service was much better. The manager even stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking, and the band;(mozaic flow) was amazing!

I really enjoyed myself here for their brunch. We had reservations, but it seems there reservation system is very disorganized. Aside from that, the food was pretty good, while the cornbread was AMAZING. I’d have them again. The live music is the reason this is a 4 star and not a 3. The band was great! I almost had to get out of my seat and dance!

My friends, coworkers, and out of town associates, all from different walks of life, had nothing but positive things to say about Warm Daddy’s. Some would primarily speak of the«Happy Hour» drink specials, others would rave about the entertainment, but the one thing that always came up was the food. Whether it was about the quality, taste, or the amount of food served, I’ve never heard anything but good things. My first trip to Warm Daddy’s came over the July 4th weekend for Sunday brunch. After hearing so much about this place, I was extremely disappointed when it did not live up the billing. Let me just say this, the staff was friendly, and accommodating. Our waitress, Cori, was friendly, attentive, and on her game. The restaurant was booked solid, and since the inside tables are reserved for parties with reservations the hostess informed us that we were welcomed to sit outside. She stated that if a party did not show up 15 minutes after their reservation we could move inside. My party of three was quite content with sitting outside; that is because we actually had a table with a working umbrella. Out of the six tables located on the patio, only two had working umbrellas. Ikea, and Target are down the street. For the price my party of three paid for brunch, I am sure management can spring for new umbrellas. I mention this because it was the first sign, a sign I ignored. I did a walk through of the buffet to determine where I wanted to start my quest of gluttony. I started to second-guess my decision to dine here when I did not get that WOW factor. If I can see the complete bottom of a chafing dish, just under an hour after opening, it demonstrates that no one is managing the buffet. The layout is not conducive for people to navigate, and things just seem to be out of place. In addition there were items that were advertised that was not on the buffet. A good omelette station is key to any buffet. While this place did not make the worst omelette, it certainty was battling for the title. The young man at the omelette station was friendly, but he completely botched my wife’s omelet. It completely fell apart as he struggled to place it on her plate. Instead of offering to make her another omelette, he kindly apologized, and just moved on to the next customer. When she cut into it at the table, it was slightly undercooked. The amount of time it took for her to receive her omelette deterred her from returning it, and she just ate around the undercooked parts. My omelette was cooked, but it was skimpy. I think I had a total of six pieces of diced ham, and a pinch of cheese in the entire omelette. The place is called Warm Daddy’s but just about everything in the chafing dishes was at room temperature or colder. The fish, the yams, the grits, hell… just about everything! The sweet-potato pancakes, and the omelette, were the two things I ate above room temperature since both items were cooked to order. For a soul food /southern style establishment, the grits, the fish, and the chicken were awful. In addition to being cold, like most of the food in the chafing dishes, the grits lacked consistency and flavor. The fried whiting was a disappointment. I’ve had fish sticks warmer, and less rubbery than what this place tried to push on us. The fried chicken appeared to be, and according to my Mom, tasted as if was left over from the night before. The drinks, and the entertainment may be hit, but when it comes to the food quality Warm Daddy’s completely misses the mark. Some may say it might have been an off weekend, since it was the holiday, but I have no intentions of ever setting foot inside Warm Daddy’s in the near or distant future. My first visit may very well be my last. The food quality is not comparable to the price. Anyone considering dining at Warm Daddy’s for brunch should really reconsider. There are better options in Philadelphia to satisfy your breakfast fix.
