I was quite excited to find the famed truck at a Night Market last summer. I love cake donuts. I waited in a long line and finally got a Homer. Took my anticipated bite and… to be honest, all I mostly tasted was the oil. Imagine sugary glazey grease party in your mouth. Needed way more bacon and.flavor. I’ll give an extra star for friendly staff and freshness. But a huge letdown otherwise.

As I was scooting through City Hall on a Friday morning, I spied the Undrgrnd Donuts truck parked all by itself in a SE corner of the courtyard. This unexpected amenity naturally demanded some sleuthing and an in-the-moment Unilocal search. Unilocal reviews persuaded me to approach this mysterious truck. I was greeted by a VERY chipper and helpful fellow, who provided a quick overview of the donut customization process. The donuts are freshly-made on-site(although not warm when handed to you). I selected several varieties for my office-mates(see photos). The treats were boxed and ready to go in about 5 minutes. The donuts were fresh and had a good crumb. The office crew kvelled about the S’mores and any with Nutella. I found mine a bit too sweet but nicely executed. I personally prefer Federal’s «hot and fresh» donuts, which are larger, less sweet and steaming hot when handed to you. I, however, will happily return given my crew’s enthusiasm for these donuts. Hope to see Undrgrnd at the next Vendy awards!

The donuts are delicious. Though you can only choose from cake donuts, from what it looks like, every donut comes freshly made on the spot. I cannot remember the name of one of my donuts now, but it was glazed in banana icing and covered in cocoa pebbles cereal. The banana icing was unique and very tasty. I also got their signature ‘Homer’ donut, which has vanilla and chocolate icing with bacon on top. It could have used a bit more bacon but overall it also was well done. Points off for rude service though. Their donuts aren’t that unique; I wouldn’t go back only to be rushed through by a gruff staff. By only selling one basic type of donut(and literally nothing else) I think they are doing themselves a disservice. Go if you want tasty glazed cake donuts, otherwise I think you can skip them.

Undrgrnd Donuts catered our wedding. Our guests LOVED the idea of having donuts, and really enjoyed the variety and taste. We were busy running around and NOT eating, so Mike O was careful to package up some donuts for us to take home– a very thoughtful gesture that was appreciated. They have a TV on the side of the truck– my brother made a photo slideshow to play, and Mike was very accommodating to make sure it played smoothly. Lovely people to work with, and a DELICIOUS product.

Was walking to Jury Duty and I spied with my little brown eyes– a food truck specializing in donuts. One detour later, I was holding a super hot donut freshly fried with milk and white chocolate drizzled on it with espresso powder. Really oily donut, consistency of the dough was very flimsy so it was hard to eat it without a fork. Really sugary and delicious, couldn’t taste the espresso powder at all because the sugar and oil was overwhelming. I’d give it a try again, but only if I happened to stumble upon it.

Delicious donuts that I like to grab for breakfast when the truck is at City Hall. It’s the toppings that make these donuts special. The apple caramel donut is my favorite. The french toast one makes for a good breakfast as well.

Absolutely delicious! The Homer is a home run — bacon and sugar and vanilla and chocolate glaze — yummm! We’ve hit their truck at a couple different spots now. If you see them, it’s a must!

Oh my… I stumbled upon this at the Night Market. I got 4 donuts: caramel apple, captain cranky, banana with fruity pebble, and french toast. I took a bite of each and they were soooo good. They are cute mini donuts and the donuts were so soft and good. Now combine that with the various toppings/frosting and you may be drooling. The flavors were all crazy, I mean who can think of these! The banana fruity pebble one had such a great banana taste-I find that places have difficulty recreating a banana flavor. Overall, go!!! Prices weren’t bad, I paid $ 10 for 4. They are small but they are for a snack or dessert, so it was just fine.

Delicious! I got the caramel apple and captain cranky when the truck was in Love Park this morning! Perfect study break! The service was quick and you could tell the donuts were super fresh as they were made to order! They have a huge menu to choose from or you can create your own. The only disappointment was I was REALLY looking forward to a whipped coffee(I saw a pic on here before going) buy it wasn’t offered today! Hopefully next time!

Such a letdown. I had been wanting to try Undrgrnd for at least a few months now and finally found them last week at the Manayunk StrEAT festival. Unfortunately, since we got to the event late(thanks for that, SEPTA) we also got to the truck late. The line was cut off right in front of us after we had waited for several minutes. Not giving up, I located their truck at today’s Flight Market. Again, since I ate first, the line was quite long. Maybe this is just a thing at food truck festivals? It was the longest line of my day, though. When I [finally] reached the front, I paid my $ 4, waited some more, and alas, was handed a French Toast and a Captain Cranky. My first thought was that they were smaller than anticipated — especially for that price tag. Still, I was excited, happily shot a photo, and bit into the French Toast. Aaaand all I could taste was grease. I understand they had just come out of the fryer, but… what? It did not taste like French Toast in the slightest bit, which was a bummer. Next up, the Captain Cranky had a strawberry glaze and captain crunch on it. I told my friend that the topping was the best part. This one was otherwise just as greasy. I realize they were likely overwhelmed by the number of people wanting their donuts, but I do wish this had been a better experience. If I ever stumble upon them in the city, I’ll give them a second try, but I certainly won’t go out of my way to wait in a crazy long line for them again.

I tried these guys out when I went to the Chinatown NightMarket because a friend insisted on waiting in line before they even starting taking doughnuts out of the fryer. We ended up getting a box to share among friends. I had the espresso chocolate doughnut, which I thought was fairly innovative(as were all of their flavors). I also tried the plain cake doughnut. Both were tasty and, as they had just come out of the fryer, extremely fresh. Probably the most surprising thing about this truck is that it has a TV built into the side so that you can watch a movie while you wait(they were featuring some sort of dubbed martial arts movie in honor of Night Market). So I got to click yes for«has a TV» in the Unilocal survey… hooray!

Best donuts ever! I throughly enjoyed the 6 pack I bought from the night market: Homer, French Toast and Captain Krunch. The donuts are served warm. I dare you to try to just eat one.

Not bad. We tried their donuts while we are in Manayunk for their food truck rally. They had a special apple donut list. We took on four of their donuts– we thought all were good but not groundbreaking for us. The one we enjoyed the best is the one with the apple. It may have been the caramel apple? Anyway, it actually tasted more like an Indian dessert we grew up on– gulab jamun with fresh apple segments. It was well played. All in all, we’ll try to stop by their truck again to sample more of their donuts when in the NL area.

Aw man I love these donuts! They come hot, fresh, and delicious. They aren’t like normal donuts you typically find in Philly such as Golden or Federal Donuts. These guys are a little smaller and resemble the flavor and texture of funnel cake, but way tastier. They have different flavors of frost they«dunk» the donuts into and then a variety of dustings and toppings. You can create your own or choose from some suggestions. The toppings range from blueberries to bacon. The truck stops by Love Park, so I’ve grabbed a few dozen for the office and managed to try all of their donut combos. Pretty cool dudes working there, too. Eat the donuts.

So, lately, my husband has been dropping me off a lot further away from work, making me walk by Love Park. I guess it’s good because I’m getting in a lil exercise, but also bad because there’s always food trucks! Now, I’m in LOVE with food trucks(hehe, love food trucks that are parked at Love Park), so whenever I see one, I have to try it. Undrgrnd Donuts is just ok in my books. I ordered the Wake Up donut(chocolate dusted with espresso and vanilla swirls). They are extremely small compared to most doughnut places I go to. They are also a lil bit more on the greasier side. Sure, the flavor is good, but I’m not really sure if it’s worth it for the price. I also ordered the whipped coffee with caramel. This was actually pretty decent. It’s a tad sweeter than I normally like coffee though, but they gave a nice size cup(I couldn’t finish, plus I think I had enough caffeine for the morning) Will I be back? Maybe. I’ll probably give a different donut a try.

I actually found this food truck while searching up some donut places around the area, and boy I am glad I did!!! To note one thing, this food truck is not located on 33rd and arch, its actually located in different locations everyday. You can check the times and locations on their website, but its two locations mainly. One outside the 30th street station and the other by the navy dock. Anyways. My friends and I got to the food truck nice and early. The guy who works there was super friendly. We chose about 6 to get the big box and got a discount. He even threw in an extra donut! The donuts were a little small though, smaller than dunkin donuts ones by a third. But it doesn’t matter! The donuts were scrumptious. To name a few we had the monkey chunk, the wake up, black forest, camping out, and the french toast. All very good and sugary. My favorite was the black forest. Oh boyy were they yummy.

To my lovely surprise,(on the day that shall not be named, ah, heck, the Running of the Drunk and Obnoxious Santas), Underground Donuts parked at the end of my street. Apart from yelling at those who chose to urinate in the light of day in front of my stoop, I partook in a few donuts. Thank goodness for those donuts. Though on the smaller scale(that is, compared to Federal Donuts), they are pretty yummy. I had the french toast(delicious and perfect) and the chocolate/coconut(could have done without the raspberry sauce, made the whole cloyingly sweet). The donuts were warm and for two at four dollars, it was a done deal.

I LOVE this truck! I love that the people who work there are friendly, the food is delicious and fun, and the prices are more than fair. I enjoy food trucks in general, but have found portion sizes and prices to be off at many of the new ones in Philly. I like supporting an independent/local business, and enjoy the convenience of walking outside my office and buying lunch(we don’t have many options close by, so it’s certainly a treat when I don’t have to drive or order delivery). but Undrgrnd Donuts has it figured out. you order and the donut/coffee/whatever is ready fast. the menu is fun and changes a little each and every time. and I loooove the«420» donut, where the toppings are picked randomly for you based on inspiration/what they have around. I’ve gotten it 3 times and each time it’s been better than the last. all this to say — try out Undrgrnd Donuts. you won’t be disappointed.
