Saw their Valentine’s show last night and it was awesome! It was entertaining, sexy, funny and just great. One of my favorite parts was the light suits. Only thing is that it was a bit longer than I expected.

Good times, not quite what I expected. I enjoyed the show(an my amazing desert) but I was hoping for a little more of something… Other Burlesque shows I’ve been to have been significantly more humorous and more about sex appeal than about pasties… I’m jus’ sayin’.

I love this burlesque troupe. I have seen many different burlesque troupes and Peekaboo is one of the good things about living in the Philly area. If you want a night of laughter, wit, kitsch, feathers, glamour, fun, strip tease. music and originality go see Peekaboo for great burlesque. Burlesque is great entertainment. I love the costumes the women make themselves. I feel the women who perform burlesque have guts. When you attend a burlesque show you see all different types of women with all different types of bodies. This helps both the viewer and the audience with reaffirming positive body images for women! This is not sleazy or degraded entertainment. Burlesque is about humor and acceptance. These performers put their heart and soul into all aspects of performing. They love it and are having so much fun that the happy vibe infects the whole crowd. Burlesque= happy happy= positive in Philly. LOVEYOU!

Overall, good entertainment! I went to the Holiday special at World Live Café, 10:30pm show. The only disappointing part – I felt that Joey Martini & Count Scotchula had too much stage time. They were entertaining, sure. But when I think burlesque, I think girls, dancing, and all that tease ‘n jazz. I was expecting more of that, or primarily that. But the show was part dancing/striptease and part comedy skits. In hindsight, I’ve learned that THAT is actually what Burlesque is: a broad combination of comedy, dancing, and striptease. So it was only disappointing b/c my expectations were misaligned with what a burlesque show is! The S.T.O(strip tease orchestra) was awesome! The girls were greattttt(and should get more stage time)! Ok fine, and Joey and Count Scotchula were wonderful too.

I want to give them more stars, they’re that fucking amazing!!! They’re all so amazing, and not to mention HOT!!! I’m a girl who can appreciate a smokin hot chick. I have been into Burlesque for a little bit now, and they were my first live show. Went to the late night caberet for the Philly Fringe Festival, at the Painted Bride. Everyone was fucking funny, awesome, hot, *insert more positive adjectives*. And I know my boyfriend also liked it, too! We will DEFINITELY be seeing more performances from the Peekaboo Revue oh, and the free cover and donation beer was awesome, too!

Peek-a-boo Revue is one of the most fun times to be had in Philly. Lulu Lollipop once gave a strip tease with a broken arm – she’s so badass she covered her hurtin’ wing in pleather and worked it. Ginger Leigh can wink better than anyone you’ve ever met. Key performed a bath sequence strip tease where she doused herself in Jack Daniels rather than the traditional agua. Why? Because it’s way more fun to watch a chick get filthy than clean. For all of the aforementioned reasons and because my cover was waived on account of a «pin-up girl discount”* for one of their shows, I’ve fallen a little in love with all of them. Also, I was born without a filter on my trap and am thus a big fan of the announcers and their sophomoric, potty mouth humor. *My hair was bobby-pinned up in a faux bob and my tetas were out and about. I didn’t know about the promotion but was just dressed up like a slutty version of Daisy from The Great Gatsby to garner myself another drunken fote with Key. Yes, I said ANOTHER. OMG, you’re soooo jealous. In any event, the discount was a nice surprise.

I don’t know if abstract/group things are on Unilocal, but given that there are several listings for string bands, etc., I needed to add Peekaboo to the menu. Peekaboo Revue bills itself as «Philadelphia’s Premier Neo-Burlesque Show» and they DONOT disappoint. After wanting to check them out for awhile, I finally talked my friends into some quality old-fashioned T+A for my birthday last year. It was the holiday show, and it took place at National Mechanics. While NM used to be home to most of their shows, I haven’t seen them there for awhile. The past few have been at Johnny Brenda’s and World Café Live. Regardless, they’re always wonderful. I have a crush on Key. I have a crush on Ginger Leigh. I pretty much just smile the entire time and convince myself I could do what they’re doing. Saucy dancing mixed with some goofy stuff. Beautiful, self-respecting ladies. Awesome crowd. It’s just a great show all around. Check them out. DOIT.
