The food here is certainly delicious, but the people who work there/own the place are so genuinely friendly that they would make you want to keep going back even if it wasn’t. A+ for great takeout, whether for lunch or dinner.

I wish I could make it here for the lunch deal. I picked up some food for dinner and I didn’t find it to be any cheaper than another thai place I enjoy going too. The food was good but if i were to compare, I’ve had better. I’d still be willing to try it again.

I stopped in twice for lunch. First time I enjoyed the food, second time it was just OK. On the good side, it’s a cheap lunch, at $ 6. On the minus side, it’s a long, confusing wait. The lady who takes your order has a hard time with English, and I really didn’t know what she was saying, and was pretty sure she didn’t understand me either. I pointed at the vats of prepared food, and expected she would dish some out, but for some unknown reason I had to wait about 10 minutes. Others came in and ordered and also stood around. I was not sure what was happening so didn’t protest, but it was a little annoying. Neither time was I sure what I was eating. You get a choice of 3 items, which are all scooped into the same dish. The first time it was delicious. The second time, with a much longer wait, the chicken was too chewy(old) and it was fairly bland overall. So now you know: you won’t spend much, but prepare for a wait.

I ordered the shrimp drunken noodles and loved it. I would order the lemon grass soup when I’m not feeling too well. The heat and sourness just hit the spot for me. I prefer to order food that needs to be cooked instead of what they have out already. It is my weekly spot for lunch.

I have been getting takeout dinner from this place every week for years, and it never fails to satisfy. The menu is very simple, and the dishes are standard. But they are always well-made flavorful predictably good. To me, it is my Friday night take-out comfort food to be enjoyed with a Netflix movie, to unwind at the end of the week. The people who work there are very friendly, and the prices can’t be beat. Just to be clear, five stars does not mean this is a five-star restaurant, only that it perfectly delivers on what it promises. It is a takeout joint with traditional Thai food and a limited spectrum. It is not the place if you are looking for exotic inventive and new. But if you’re looking for traditional simple well made Thai comfort food, it is great.

Definitely one of my favorite quick lunch spots. The steam table options are the go-to, coconut curry chicken, basil chicken, stir fried tofu, sweet and sour chicken on either pad thai or fried rice for only $ 6(cash only) It’s a steal and it’s filling. On of the best pad thai!

20th street location: a little hole-in-the-wall just a couple blocks from my office. This is probably THE best local lunch bargain around. Today I am enjoying Thai basil chicken and chicken with red curry sauce, all over brown rice. Yummy. Good thing there is also a push cart selling ice cream on the way back to the office — gonna need to cool off after this gloriously spicy food!

Well-spiced, fresh, generously portioned Thai food that’s also dirt cheap– what’s not to love? During lunch time, things are even more affordable(6 bucks for a choice of dishes from the steamer counter, on rice or pad thai). They’re shoebox sized, with only a handful of seats, so it’s best to get their food to go. I order their drunken noodles embarrassingly often– they’re *that* good. The basil stir fry is also a great bet.

Ordered Thai basil rice with chicken to go. What I received was a container of white rice with the chicken in a separate container. It was more like curry chicken. Very disappointing. The old lady who took my order was very pleasant and she told me that they had given me extra chicken. A kind gesture, but not worth much given how dry the meat was. Won’t return. 2 stars mainly for the price and the friendly lady.

Meh. I had the penang curry with shrimp and white rice. This curry is definitely not one of their strong suits. I know a few friends who love it here for the $ 6 lunch special but the curry was just very mediocre at best. The color didn’t even look the same as other Thai places I’ve been to. It lacked the sweetness and coconut flavor. The amount of shrimp was scarce. Maybe I would come back for their cheap lunch special but definitely not for dinner.

Seems like this place is pretty popular. And I had take out quite few times here since it is so close to me. Simply I don’t really like their food. I thought they use a lot of fish sauce. Maybe it’s more close to authentic cooking. Tried spring rolls, pad thai, red curry with tofu, green curry with chicken and vegetable soup. For pad thai, noodle was stuck together so hard to eat. Curry is good, delicious and creamy but not enough of broth and tofu and chicken were too dry for me. Vegetable soup was just blend.

I’ve been to this restaurant several times when i worked in the city and was always happy with the food. The prices are extremely reasonable and won’t break the bank.

Usually come here for the lunch buffet special $ 6. I get the pad Thai with chicken basil, chicken curry or fried fish. It’s really good for the price. Quick lunch spot

My buddy and I recently started working in Center City(15th& market) and were looking for a good Thai place to get something quick for lunch. After scavenging Unilocal for a few minutes we stumbled upon Singha House To-Go. It was a bit of a walk but the 4-stars made us confident it’d be worth the trek. So we did(in the rain I might add) walk the 5+ blocks to the little ho-dunk shop on 20th. There, in the small restaurant, was a small serving station where the food looked like it had been sitting for a bit(we got there at 11:30am!) and a sweet older Thai lady serving things up. I ordered a classic — Chicken Pad Thai — and my buddy ordered the same thing and a bowl of soup. The sweet lady spooned the rice noodles and chicken into our small-ish plastic bowls along with bean sprouts and peanuts on top. A few moments later we were paid and on our way happy as clams. Then… we tried the food. Chicken: bland & dry. Noodles: bland & dry. Bean sprouts/Peanuts: what you would expect. Soup: actually quite good. All and all — I’ve had MUCHMUCH better Thai food in my life and it was NOT worth the trip. Save yourself the walk and go some place else for your Thai food. I’m honestly shocked by how poor the food was — I mean they were authentic Thai people making it… wow. There simply is no excuse. Since the food was so bad, we ended up stopping at the Liberty Place food court and got fresh Chicken Teriyaki w/rice and vegetables($ 7.15 after tax) at Sarku — ridiculously good! So again, I hate writing reviews like this but people should avoid going to this place for QUALITY thai food. If you’re looking for something cheap, quick, bland and dry then definitely go here. Or if you’d like soup. Caveat: I only had the Pad Thai, so maybe some of their other things are good.

My favorite is their lunch buffet. For like $ 6 – 8 you get to try a few different things like pad thai and a curry with rice. It’s a good deal and you’re definitely full after. During my internship, from team and I used to do «Thai Thursdays» and order from here. The place is owned by Thai people(evidenced by the pictures on the wall of the king is my only clue?) making it authentic. The ladies who work there look like it is their own little kitchen serving some friends with their kindness. This place is tiny and not meant for any frills and ambiance. But if you and your boo are deciding where to get some takeout tonight or you and your coworkers wanna try something new, give this place a try!

This place is super cheap for center city, $ 6AND they take credit cards! You shouldn’t be expecting top quality thai food at that price! With that said, the pad thai I got was not bad. I liked the noodles, pretty authentic with great tamarind/fish sauce flavor. What I did not expect was that I had to pick a random protein that went on top of my noodles from their steam table. I picked their basil chicken and regretted it. The basil chicken just tasted like salty chicken boiled in water with a hint of basil. It did not go well with the sour/sweet pad thai noodles. I wish they actually stir fried some chicken in with the noodles! Overall, this place is so cheap, I think it’s worth it for a quick meal. The food is not that bad and relatively fresh. I even saw some one bring their own container. I wonder if you get a discount for bringing your own container?

Pros: –call in or order there, they cook it fresh and fast. –they are actually Thai people who are the cooks, kind of reminds me of my mom and aunts/uncles in the kitchen cooking. Anyways, authentic Thai people means I can order things not on the list and they know what it is and will make it! –Ask for the sticky rice and mango and they will make it for you! Sooooo good! –The prices are mediocre. With 2 entrees and a dessert the price was close to $ 25. –I had the shrimp fried rice which lasted me for dinner and lunch the next day! So delicious! –This is now my Go-To Thai Take Out! Cons: –If you understand cheap Thai food for take out, then there will be no problems with this place.

2.5 stars, but my general rule is to round down if the current star rating is higher than my own rating, and to round up if the current start rating is lower than my rating. This place is cheap, I’ll give it that. The two ladies there were very friendly, and seemed like honest, hard-working folks. The lady who took our order was so smiley and nice! The food, while cheap, was only ok. The pad see ui(or however they spelled it – they spelled nearly everything differently than how I’m used to seeing it) was fine – i wouldn’t say it was amazing, but it wasn’t bad either. The drunken noodles were a severe disappointment – they tasted like microwaved rice noodles with hot sauce. It was incredibly one-dimensional – and I was hoping to get a little complexity – a taste of basil, something… anything else! Side note – they put the rice noodles in little plastic baggies… then when you order, they stick the whole plastic bag into the microwave(to heat up the noodles more quickly, I presume), before dumping the noodles into the wok with the other stuff. My husband and I are not fans of microwaving any sort of plastic… so this sort of got on our nerves. I’m hoping this was an off day – our motto is that every place deserves a second chance(unless we get sick, then second chance rescinded). We’ll give this place a second chance, but so far, i’m not impressed…

My friend and I stopped by Thai Singha House To Go the other night after an afternoon of day drinking at Frankford Hall, and I’m a fan! I ordered the Drunken Noodles, extra-spicy, with tofu and wow– was it spicy!(and this is my opinion after having had jungle curry on a couple of occasions in Thailand!) Furthermore, for less than $ 10, it was more than enough for two solid meals, and lasted me well into the following day. I definitely plan to go back!

I really hope this isn’t the best Thai food in Philly. Maybe quick and inexpensive but ehhhhh, is it a worthy sacrifice for flavor? Hopefully it was an off day. The spring rolls I had were nicely placed on a garnish of tomato and lettuce, there was considerable crisp wrapper involved compared to the filling which was bland and lacking variety. The lemon grass soup was pleasantly chuck full of mushrooms but the preprepped chicken was terribly dry. There was no heat nor much lemon grass flavor, there were a few sprigs of cilantro. Ginger with tofu was really saucy and had abundant julienned fresh ginger. It was a flavorful dish. I was excited about pad thai and then the complete opposite of excitement set in. I know it’s not a saucy dish but there was nearly dry. Overly fish sauced and minimal tamarind resulted in blah which didn’t help that my tofu was a bit burned and that chared taste resonated through the dish. Would I eat the left overs sure, would I try a different dish sure, would I toute it as the best in Philly? The steaming lunch options seem like a great deal and the man at the counter was quite friendly.
