Sun Worshippers

Sorry to tell you Sun Worshippers is closed. After 30 years in business, the poor economy and tanning tax ended the era.

As a disgruntled former Hollywood Tans (Columbus Blvd) customer I found Sun Worshippers on Unilocal and am so happy I did. It’s super close to my house (right off of South Street on 2^nd Street), incredibly clean inside and the staff (Dave) is so helpful. He’ll actually talk to you and determine what you’re trying to achieve and help you come up with a plan to get there. It’s not like some tanning salons that make you feel self conscious when walking in. I only do stand up tans (personal preference, I’m fair-​skinned and burn easily) and I actually got a little color after only one six minute session. Nice! I bought a package and intend on this being my go to tanning salon. Also, they do spray tans for only $ 20 if you already have a package, otherwise it’s $ 30. That price is a steal! I’ll update my review after I actually get one here. I deducted one star because it’s in a parking garage, which is a tad sketchy.

It’s so embarrassing to have to post a tanning salon. But, alas, thanks to Coco Chanel in the 80’s and the increasing pressure we are receiving from the media to look like Anna Nicole Smith (just without the death part) has forced most women to visit this option before slipping into a black dress in January.
It is like you are involved in the Watergate scandal as you take the elevator down to the parking garage, walk across the parking lot to a small door with neon signs. By now you think you should turn around.
But inside there is the smell of lotion, posters of the Carribean and raisin-​like people begging you to opt for the larger package.
In all seriousness, the staff here is really friendly, non-​judgmental and very cool. They have all types of clients from 18 — 80 and coco brown to first-​time pale. They talk to you about your skin and what you are looking for and set you up in a booth that is best for you.
There are lots of different rooms with different beds that have different radiation (sounds so cancerous). Yo can do standing or laying down. They also give you free stuff on you’re birthday and a free spray tan.
The best part is when you leave the building, people think you are coming from the parking lot and you don’t have to feel so fake/​guilty.
