Good music and cheap beers ! Locals were friendly even though I was new to the neighborhood

What a nice little neighborhood bar that we stumbled across. They don’t do fancy drinks or specialty cocktails and it is more on the divey side. But this is a friendly place and you sure can’t beat the prices. I guess I am used to paying center city prices. I was shocked at how low the bar bill was when we stopped in for a round of shots and beers to kill some time before a dinner reservation.

A cool neighborhood spot that seems to attract all the locals. Limited selection of beverage, but friendly people and not overcrowded with hipsters or douches.
Good spot if you live nearby.

One of the last few bars that the original locals have, cheap drinks, nice and quiet most the time, but busy on the weekend nites.

Wanted to like this place… it’s close to my house and the sign is cute. But we walked in on a Friday night around 9pm and there were three people there. Just three. No music. Blindingly bright lighting. It was like we accidentally walked into someone’s house. Maybe I’ll try again another time!

the starboard is our neighborhood go to. with so many expensive and overcrowded places popping up around fishtown it’s nice to have a few standbys like the starboard who you know are just there to serve you affordable drinks and good bar food.
the bartenders are always attentive and the conversations you can overhear here are priceless. we have gone in for a drink on a saturday afternoon and felt like we walked into someones living room (in a good way) and got to hear all the great banter of good friends who have grown up on these streets in philadelphia. the regulars really don’t make you feel out of place. its really a unique experience.
the food here is also good! our favorites are the roast pork sandwich, chicken fingers and the burgers. they also have great specials on the board out front that change each day. the husband and wife duo in the kitchen are super sweet and love to see the customers happy with their meals!
going there on a night when the bartender puts out cheese curls is awesome! :)
i’ve deducted one star on account of lack of cleanliness, lack of beer selection, and really dim lighting, but honestly after a few beers (and a couple cheap shots) who cares about all of these things! cheers!

This is an excellent local bar. The owners are friendly and the atmosphere is decent. They make a great pizza, which is a rare find in the Fishtown area.

This place smells really bad.

Consistently great burger that is much better and half the price of some fine dining restaurants in Center City
Bun – inconsistent roll
Meat – very good angus beef
Toppings – many to choose from nice selection

Fine, friendly enough.
Nothing special in terms of atmosphere or beer selection.
Always has a big crowd for sporting events. Love it when they set up outside to grill and watch the TV through the window. That’s some authentic Fishtown for you.

Ah, the Starboard. I’ve been a couple times as it is in my neighborhood, but I usually hesitate before walking in b/​c I didn’t grow up in Fishtown. However my fears always disappear after the first beer — The locals are very friendly and engaging. This is the kind of place where everyone has known eachother for years from the neighborhood. FYI stick with the domestic beers when ordering.
Saturday night the side room turns into a dance party with a DJ and flashing lights… the younger local folk (twenty somethings) have a good time.
The kitchen was remodeled and reopened about a year ago. Haven’t tried anything yet though. I think they take credit cards.

This place is great. They do have food and its good, but its cash only. The bar though will take all cards. I frequent it often as I only live a block away and people I don’t even know will frequently buy a round for the bar. Free jube box too!

This is a great inexpensive watering hole. The bartenders are friendly, as are the locals.
Why waste your time paying $ 10 for a drink in Old City when we have so many great bars in this neighborhood?

Cool dive bar with good TVs. It’s a real «locals» bar. However, it’s cheap and I have a good time when I go there.
Three minor complaints: there’s no food, the TVs are 1 size too small, and it’s cash only.
