The food was really good but from the time we ordered our entrees to getting served was over 45 min and we had to ask for it from our waitress since it took so long. Was really disappointed with timing but the quality of food was really good and we will go again hoping for a better experience

Came here for a drink after work wanting to get dinner and drinks with a friend, but since we didn’t have a reservation they couldn’t seat us for dinner. We asked to sit outside, they obliged. We got the Moscow Mules with were well made and delicious, but didn’t look over the food menu much as we couldn’t get dinner, but did get the hummus which was good too. The waitress gave us the wrong check so we had to go back inside and have it switched out. Kinda pricey but on par with other restaurants in center city. Would like to try this place again for actual dinner.

The service was slow. Waitress was nice but seemed frustrated at times. She took a while to ask(or even offer) if we wanted another drink. The bacon wrapped figs were GREAT! Didn’t have devil eggs but we’re very tasty according to my teammates. I’m providing a four-star rating for the food because it was truly outstanding I would provide two stars for the overall service because it was just so slow and it did not seem as if there was adequate staff for the dinner rush. I recall having a beef dish which was outstanding and their entire menu had great selections and it was quite difficult to decide on which one. The wine list was very impressive along with the extensive cocktail list. If I ever had the opportunity to go back I would definitely revisit this restaurant

Cool place for happy hour. Nice atmosphere and good service. Beyond HH though, I do not think it has much more to offer. The food is okay but it is easily forgettable.

No longer recommended. I had a rather unpleasant experience at the bar not too long ago and left an honest review. But it seems Square 1682 is more concerned with looking good on Unilocal than with the customer’s actual experience. The manager replied(publicly) to my comment by apologizing and requesting that I return to visit them again soon. But why would I spend my money there again? **And no she did not offer me a free drink — just requested that I come back. No thanks. There are so many other restaurants in Philly where you can spend your money, be treated well, and leave with a smile. I’ll be leaving my tips there instead. #LessonLearned

Between 1.5−2 stars. Pretty disappointing food and the service was lacking. Sorry. The menu is very diverse and ambitious but our dishes were lacking. Some of them were just basic cooking problems. Other than that, it was just bland. We ordered as appetizers mussels, grits, and some type of sauteed chard. The grits and chard were fine although I would have used less garlic. Some of the mussels were undercooked, which means they are slimy and elastic. The chorizo and broth was good but pretty basic. For a main course we had roasted chicken with beets, and snapper with purple potato mash. The chicken was… a roasted chicken(it was fine, should have been better). The snapper was a bit over salted, and the skin wasn’t crispy as it should have been. The purple mash was real letdown, it was very thick. I’m not food scientist but my understanding is that happens when they are overwhipped or there is too much starch still in it(undercooked?). It also came with some sauteed cherry tomatoes that I think were intended to be burst, but they weren’t cooked long enough to burst, and were still cold inside(unappetizing). I know this sounds like nit-picking but the snapper was $ 26. That’s a lot of money. From start to finish it took almost 2 hours, which is too long.

I am a regular at the Palomar for business travel and love so many things about the hotel. This restaurant is great for evenings– the bartenders friendly, the drinks fun, the appetizers appetizing. I was motivated to write a review though because i recently had breakfast here for the first time and was blown away by its deliciousness. I ordered the yogurt parfait and it far exceeded my expectations– homemade granola was Perfect, the yogurt scrumptious, the vanilla flavored agave to die for. Will now be a must-have every time I visit!

Tourist review! I went here with family for brunch and the food was delicious! I had one of the chef specials — Breakfast Pita, and it was a pretty good price for the quality of food that we had. I would definitely recommend this place for brunch. It can get crowded because it’s small, so I would recommend a reservation.

We stayed at the Kimpton Palomar hotel in Philidelphia for a weekend getaway and decided to try this place out. We were able to make a reservation for breakfast with no wait at all. The menu was small however everything on the menu appealed to the eye. My boyfriend had the porridge an I had the blueberry pancakes. Everything was wonderful including the service. We were able to add the bill to our hotel tab which was nice. However I will say it was a bit pricey for my liking, but I still might come to this spot again the next time I’m in town.

My sister and I were staying at the Hotel Palmar and had both breakfast and brunch at Square 1682 and were very pleased with the food and service. I had the Chef’s special omelette for breakfast and the grilled shrimp salad for brunch, and I highly recommend both. Great flavors/textures as well as very generous portions and reasonably priced. Also had the yogurt parfait that was delicious and full of beautiful berries. Coffee was great too! When I return to the Palomar, I definitely plan to return to Square 1682.

Overall — the food was excellent!!! We ordered the grilled octopus and the mussels to start, both were so flavorful and delicious! I ordered the short rib and it was melt in your mouth delicious, my friend ordered the mushroom tart, it was great but a little too much crust/breaking. Food was outstanding even though we didn’t know who our server was and felt neglected the whole evening. Definitely worth the food — since our service sucked we didn’t have time for dessert(whatchu gonna do without dessert??)

Had brunch here on Saturday with my sisters. Food was pretty good, service was ok. In addition to their regular menu, they had a few Valentine’s day weekend specials. I had the short rib hash with the smoked tomato sauce on the side. I personally preferred it better without the sauce. Between the short rib, eggs, and potatoes, it was a super filling dish. I also tried some of my sisters’ french toast sandwich(french toast layered with duck and topped with an egg) and monkey bread. Both were vday specials and definitely more decadent dishes. The french toast was a nice mix of sweet and savory while the monkey bread was more like a dessert than a meal. We also shared the blackberry-rosemary prosecco punch. It was tasty, but I’d guess a lot more mix than prosecco.

Review for brunch on Saturday. Had the short rib hash: tasty and a good size portion. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the fact that it wasn’t packed meant that my friend and I had ample time to catch up without being rushed out the minute we finished our meals(hate that). The walk up to the restrooms is a little weird and the directions I received were definitely needed. Overall a pleasant experience, brunch menu had variety and a nice quiet place to catch up with friends.

I came here with my boyfriend for dinner on New Year’s Eve. We had not problem making a reservation. My boyfriend ordered from the pre fixe menu — 3 course meal. I ordered from the regular dinner menu. I had the salmon which was cooked and seasoned perfectly! Amazing! My boyfriend liked his meal as well. I shared his dessert(chocolate tarts with ice cream and a pistachio brittle)… also delicious. There was a very noisy couple at the bar who had too much to drink. the manager went over to them and asked them to be quiet. I was glad the restaurant addressed this issue promptly. I will absolutely return!

Carafes of mimosa, raw juices, awesome frittatas and decent environs. This hotel-like lobby dining is good to above average but in a super area for shopping, cafes, parks, etc. so that makes it hard to beat.

I visited this restaurant again, this time on a weekday afternoon with my mom. Although I was disappointed that we couldn’t get entrees at 4 pm(only small plates and burgers), the food was delicious! My mom couldn’t stop raving about the smoky sauce on the mussels, and the mussels themselves were small, but not tiny, and very tender and fresh. The burgers we had were both awesome, and my mom’s came with the most flavorful thin-cut Parmesan fries. I can’t wait for my next visit!

Excellent for brunch. Hangover curers! Try the deviled eggs, chicken sandwich, maple bacon and apple smoked sausage. The complimentary truffle popcorn is a DINNER time treat. The server and chef did not make a big deal of it and gave it to us anyways. Servers are so nice! Very well organized and run. Don’t forget to sip on a Bloody Mary!

Stopped in here while on a business trip in Philly. I was looking for a place to sit at the bar and have dinner. Turned out to be a good choice. First was the service. Very nice bartender who took the time to make me feel welcomed. Attentive and pleasant. Then came the truffle popcorn which I read in many reviews. Very nice with my glass of a French red wine(sorry, I forgot what it was). The the entrée, Duck Two Ways. A right-size platter of duck presented two ways as the name says, sliced duck breast and some pulled duck meat, probably thigh meat. Very nice. So all in all a very nice place and the food was very good. Glad I stopped in.

I was drawn into Square 1682 thanks to an Open Table promotion and the Unilocal check-in offer(free truffle popcorn). Once there, I was impressed with the service and menu, so we ordered more. Needless to say, I don’t know what took me so long to write this review since my experience was pretty top notch. We started with the Calamari and the aforementioned popcorn. The Calamari came with a variety of peppers and a was very lightly breaded. I can easily recommend. As for the popcorn, they didn’t go cheap on the truffle oil, which was awesome. I don’t think I would have ordered them without the check in offer, but after having them would order them again. We followed with the Lamb Short Ribs and Duck Breast. The duck was completed with parsnips, pomegranate, and a dash of sherry. It was juicy and every bite was delish. The lamb was served on grits. Like the duck, it was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. I’m glad we choose those options, but was disappointed we were too full for dessert. Well played Square 1682. I’ve since been back and enjoyed similar delicious experience. I’ll spare the details and jump to the cliff notes: fab-u-lous. I’ll be back again I’m sure…

Attached to the Hotel Palomar. Very comfortable ambience and overall décor. Waiter, Chip, was very knowledgable about the food and was able to very elegantly describe the preparation and taste of many of the menu selections I asked about. I was blown away with my Lancaster Duck Two ways dish! Everything about it from presentation and melt in mouth textures was simply welcoming and delightful to me. They have a very appropriate wine list and elegant cocktail menu. I ordered the Holly Woodlawn, a mix of Cazadores Reposado, Green Chartreuse, 5 Spice, Grapefruit, Lemon. Served Tall. Absolutely delicious! Overall, an amazing dining experience. Major props to my server, Chip, who did a smashing job. Note: the restrooms are outside the restaurant and part of the hotel on the second floor. I can’t wait to return!
