Simon’s Kosher

I have been a customer for several years. The quality is unique and always the best. Simon and Ella are so very nice and hamish, always warm and welcoming. The delicatessen products are excellent too.

I started coming to Simon’s after I moved in with my Kosher girlfriend. The worst thing about moving in with her and having a kosher home meant leaving my great butcher Dom at Cappuccio’s in the Italian Market. However, Ella and Simon have been great! They provide great service and delicious cuts of meat. I’ve gotten chicken, sausages, brisket, beef shoulder, deli turkey and homemade turkey pastrami. Their marinated chicken wings are incredible. I have no idea what they put on them, but I get a package every time I go. Ella is lovely and always makes nice small talk when you’re there. If you want something, they will do their best to make sure you get exactly what you are looking for. They even trim off all the exterior fat from their brisket and shoulders (if you want that) prior to weighing, which makes for a much less expensive piece of meat. Even if you don’t keep kosher and just want a good old fashioned butcher, come here and you’ll leave happy.

I drive over 80 miles from north Jersey a few times a year to go to Simon’s — an amazing Kosher butcher. Their sausages are fabulous. The only time we ever had anything even close to as good as theirs was in Tel Aviv! As someone else also said, Simon and Ella are beautiful people, always trying to help and get whatever you want. Ella always has a smile, a story, and a few slices of some delicious home made cold cuts to nosh while we are shopping. They should live 120 more years.

Simon’s is a hold out of the old school butcher that is a rare find. They will cut meat to order and it’s always fresh. My family is very particular and Simons caters to us in a way no other place would. This leads me to the kind, genuine and amazing service. They are so happy to see people eating their food. If you are what you eat, You should be buying your meat at Simons.
Today, my wife left me with the kids for the weekend and Simons helped me plan out the meals and keep the kids happy. Speaking of which, the kids love going to Simons and seeing the meat get cut and interacting with everyone there. They consider it a special treat.

This kosher butcher has a ton of variety. All kinds of meat, chicken and a bunch of different Israeli products. The woman who is always there is very helpful if you need help choosing the right meat for your meal or figuring out the best way to cook the meat you are picking up. My family has been shopping at Simon’s for my entire life.
Before I was born my father was a shochet for a brief period in his life. He knew his meats and poultry. When he came to Philadelphia, he did his research, found Simon and Ella and stuck with them.
Simon and Ella are beautiful people. Every time I would come in with my mother Ella would give me a slice of whatever she was slicing up at that time. They are such an important part of northeast Jewery that they were even at my Bar Mitzvah!
*Helpful tip: All kosher meats are also Halal. For the Muslim neighbors of the northeast, this wonderful couple would love to make their top quality meats part of your next Eid celebration. Their meats are so good they will become a part of your life.

I went and enjoyed it thoroughly in spite of a glowing recommendation from Scott Bisceglie who cites this as his favorite place to eat. The food was simply amazing. Mazel Tov!

My family has been shopping at Simon’s for over 20 years, since we came to America. The couple that owns it are the nicest people and truly know their meats. Everything is kosher, but their quality of meats is out of this world. I’ve since moved from Philadelphia but pick up meats to bring back home every time I find myself in Philly. Highly recommended even if you don’t keep Kosher.

We’ve been customers of Simon’s for more than 20 years. The couple that owns it are friendly and helpful. There’s the standard selection of kosher meat products, but also a lot of specialty things — house made sausages and different kinds of burgers. We are huge fans of the not-​too-​spicy mizrahi burgers and moroccan sausages. They also have a good selection of deli meats including house roasted turkey breast and house cured corn beef & pastrami. Last, but no least, if you don’t see something in the case, just ask. Simon will custom cut pretty much anything you want — my favorite is an extra-​thick cut rib steak that would make Fred Flinstone proud.
We go every few months to load up the freezer, but I also understand that Simon will ship anywhere in the country.
