I would like to give this place a second chance. The food has potential, but depending on when you go in, and which cook is on shift, getting a great meal is a gamble. When I went with a friend, the cook was reluctant to make us our tacos and made excuses to not cook so our simple specifications(like adding cilantro or onions). When our other friend showed up, she was unable to get anything because they were apparently«out of food».

Scoreboard Sport Grille looks like a burger joint. But no, actually it is a totally authentic Mexican restaurant whose owners have not been able to redecorate it. Today I went for lunch and got quesadillas huitlacoche and carnitas tacos. The quesadilla($ 4) was excellent, best huitlacoches I’ve had yet. The tortilla was made from masa and was cooked to order on the grill. If I’d stopped at quesadilla I would have given this restaurant four stars, but the carnitas($ 7 for three) were less good, with some bone left in by mistake, and not crisp. There are a lot of good Mexican restaurants in this neighborhood, and I’m not sure I’d recommend this one over the others, but it is definitely worth a visit, and does not deserve to be overlooked on account of its bizarre leftover décor. Warning: not much English was spoken here. Be prepared to smile and point.
