I’m originally from the south — so my thoughts when I moved to Philly were ‘what is this water ice business?’ The name sounds unappetizing but far, far from it. Every flavor is amazing. Black cherry, banana, mango, peach, the list goes on. Rita’s water ice is great on it’s own, but getting it as a gelato was what turned me into a psychotic, obsessive water ice fiend. I’m sure a native who grew up with this — you lucky jerk! — will find this funny to read, but now I have a whole new reason to enjoy summer. I’m pissed every time I drive past this closed stand during the winter.

You’ll find water ice and custard at this Rita’s, as well as a wait in line and few parking options(usually). There’s nothing special here, just your standard offerings. There’s no seating, but they do have pretzels. Yum.

A good neighborhood Ritas stand, no indoor seating, more of a grab and go place. Staff is friendly and willing to concoct any combo can you can think up.
