Yet another childhood establishment that I’ve been ordering from for years. Not a bad place to order from if your local and looking for a quick, cheap food order. The pizza isn’t the best in the neighborhood, but solid in a pinch. I prefer ordering the chicken fingers, fries, burgers and wings from here if I’m ordering. If you go with one or all of those, they’re generally pretty good.

My family has been going to Rising Sun Pizza since before I was born. Whenever we order out, it is the first place that we think of. For years, the experience has been exactly what you expect from a corner pizza shop: not too amazing, but not terrible, either. In this past year, however, the service has been going downhill. Last week I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar sandwich on wheat toast(which is on the menu), and they were confused by my order. Okay, this happens, what are you gonna do? This week, I ordered the same exact sandwich, and, surprise(!), they were still confused. When we went to pick up our meal, they needed clarification on what I wanted. Now, for a place that takes your number down, you’d think that, should there be any confusion about a menu item, they’d call, so that when you go to get it, everything is ready for you. The extra 5 minutes it took to prepare my food is not what bothered me. It happens, and that’s what you get for the convenience of ordering out. What upset me was that the women there argued with me about the fact that what I wanted was not listed like that on the menu. According to her, that sandwich comes on a long roll. When I read what I wanted to her, straight from the menu they have taped to the counter, she still didn’t believe me. She even brought in some other dude to confer about it. They even remembered that the week before, there was the same confusion! If you can remember that, then you should remember how the situation was rectified the week before. She very begrudgingly said she was sorry for the mix up, but it was obvious that she didn’t want to have to offer that apology. If we were some randos off of the street, I would have been less offended, but we’ve been going there 3 – 4 times a month for my whole life. When I got home, I saw that my sandwich was missing the peppers that were supposed to be on it(as listed in the menu). There have been various other little problems that have been occurring more and more frequently lately(apparently a tomato pie– no cheese is confusing, as is an Italian hoagie with OIL), and this attitude towards us yesterday was the final straw. Needless to say, we’re going to start looking at other places around us to order from. It’s sad because whenever we have a party, they are always where we order from.

First, I’m immediately soured on pizza shops that don’t sell slices. Rising Sun Pizza is of that ilk. They DO have a little personal pizza though, so it wasn’t horrible, but when all you want is a slice or 2, anything else from a PIZZASHOP, kinda puts you off. The pizza itself is ok; its of the Pizza Hut variety in that its thick and bready, instead of flat and… toothsome is the word. Meh.

Not a bad place, it’s probably one of the most consistent pizza places in the area never had a horrible pizza but then again never had an amazing pizza from here either but the prices are cheap and the people are nice

Whenever my kids have a pizza party we always order from Rising Sun. They’re close, the price is right, and kids aren’t too picky when it comes to the quality of their pizza. That’s all I can say about their pizza. The other items on their menu are decent. My wife likes their stromboli and I like their mega fries.

So I haven’t had a cheesesteak in a long while, and on the way home, this was pretty much the last place I passed before getting on the road. Big mistake. I ordered the moderately priced($ 5.25) cheesesteak with fried onions, ketchup, mayo salt and pepper. I looked around the place and there were two teens eating fries and some folks from the old country for lack of a better term taking over tables drinking wine and all. When my order was ready, the guy asked if it was mine and then proceeded to the food at me. Threw it right on the counter. Very light on the steak, very heavy on ketchup that was ON the roll, and not inside the sandwich. The cheese was cheap and not good at all, and the meat, gray and inedible. If you want your food thrown at you and not even a thanks for being a customer, come here. Worst cheesesteak and service ever.

Good but wouldnt say great food. This is a neighborhood favorite place, so expect crowds especially on Friday nights. Pizza was good, could be a little more crispy. Sauce was decent, cheese was decent. I dont think they use the best ingredients, but not the worse either. This is what i consider a saucey pizza, more sauce than cheese, but thats ok i like it that way. Cheesesteak was good although it was lacking in meat and they could of toasted the bun slightly. I also had a order of Mild Wings, they where OK, wont win any awards or anything but acceptable. Ive only been here 2 or 3 times seem to me they are more known for their Strombolis, appeared to me thats what the majority of people where ordering. Oh the Pizza’s run on the smallish side their large is like a medium, their small is like a personal pizza. So if youre feeding more than four you might want to get 2 large’s.Though a large pie only runs $ 8.50 so consider it like you are really buying a medium pizza. I had to debate between 3 or 4 stars. I dont think its quite 4 star’s more like 3.5. I would say its a touch better than the average«down the way» pizza.

So I was babysitting my cousin’s kids the other night and we decided to get fast food(or, rather, I decided, since I didn’t feel like cooking). The kids wanted Rising Sun so we ordered there. The girl who answered the phone was nice, if a bit of a mumbler, and the order went in with seemingly no problems. 40 minutes later, delivery guy comes and we’re missing a salad, a cheesesteak and 2 orders of fries. I call back and discover the girl who took the order didn’t write down the cheesesteak, but the bag with the fries and salad is sitting on the counter. The manager jumps on the phone and assures me that everything missing, including the unordered and unpaid for cheesesteak, is on it’s way. 20 minutes later, the delivery guy shows up, hands me a bag, charges me $ 5 flat for the cheesesteak, and we sit down to eat together. Except, we’re still missing fries and they sent the wrong salad. Fortunately, as I was dialing the phone, the delivery guy came back and explained he handed me the wrong bag. So an hour and 7 minutes after we ordered, we had our food and could sit to eat. The food was good, as fast food goes. Breaded chicken was good, bbq sauce was the cheapo, «homemade» imitation kind(more hot sauce and ketchup than bbq), which always sucks. The cheesesteak was big and had a lot of meat and cheese. The fries were okay, well-cooked and crispy at least, and my salad was a-ok(but then again, how can you really screw up a salad?). Overall, the debacle that was their delivery was handled well and saved by a funny and nice delivery guy, and the food was worth waiting for(or else we were starving by then?) The next time I am sitting for my cuz and don’t feel like cooking again, I will probably call them back. But I will definitely get the order-taker to repeat it, and I will check the bag before the delivery guy leaves ;)

Can’t decide whether I like the cheesesteaks better or the stromboli. I’m craving their stromboli right now…

Gag. I grew up eating at this god-awful neighborhood pizza joint. Low quality ingredients= bad pizza.
