Stylist late, had to be called to the shop. Had consultation and explained what I wanted(color, trim, 2 strand twists, deep conditioner) but they must not have written it down cause the stylist didn’t seem to know about anything but the deep conditioner. Everything kept going wrong. My stylist asked the owner for suggestions but the owner seemed to make suggestions that my stylist did not agree with(thankfully). Twist were too fat and I went home and re-did them. I was a late appointment and I don’t think my stylist wanted to stay late. She did take care of my hair well and I would love to go back, but there was to many other things that were way wrong. The shop is in the owners home and when u use the rest room the entire family is sitting at the kitchen table for a meal. WHHHAAATTT … Overpowering incense.

I love this little shop! My stylist, Shahadah, is awesome. She’s very creative and she doesn’t have her customers in all day. I like that their pricing is very clear, which is a problem I tend to have with salons. They have online booking, which is very convenient. As another reviewer said, it’s drama-free! It’s a bit pricey, but when I have it, I go!

First a little background. I have been locking my hair(this time around) for nearly 3 years. I’ve had four other people in my hair during this time. My bff has done some maintenance for me several times(I trust her work because her hair and her family’s are very healthy). I have been trying to find a salon over the years for when I have a special event and to make sure that it’s healthy. Because of medical reasons I’ve had a lot of thinning and breakage. I went to a salon to have eyelashes put on. The owners locs looked great so I had a consult and made an appt. The entire time she was doing my hair she was texting a client. When I was under the dryer for some time she had a stylist check me(she was doing lashes) and the girl said I was good. She oiled my hair and sent me on my way. When I left, I realized that some of my hair was still damp and she didn’t cut the back as I asked. Next stylist was in home and recommended. She told me she could do some interlocking to save my thinning locs. She did it so tightly(and also did more than just the damaged ones) that I had a headache for 3 days and the back of my hair broke off w/in a month. Thirdly I went to a salon that I found on Unilocal(Oxsun), I was running late and called the salon. There was no answer & I left a message stating I would be 15 – 20 mins late. I arrived about that much later and there was a client outside. I realized the shop was closed and after talking to her she stated that the owner does her hair and is always late. Needless to say we waited outside for about 40 mins then when my stylist came in she said hi and finally got me in a room maybe 20 mins later. No excuses. I asked and she claimed she was there and left because she didn’t know I was coming. 7 hours later my hair was completed. I called Rasa Salon to inquire about a consult just over a month ago. They were able to get me right in. After finding the salon(it’s on the corner and can be mistaken as a residence) I waited maybe 20 mins or so while one the locticians(Kesha I believe) finished up a head. I was very pleased with the consultation(she 1st asked if I preferred to go to a private room for it) and the atmosphere of the salon. The employees are very respectful to reach other and their clientele. No extra loud music, talking or cursing! Unfortunately, because of my work schedule, I was unable to get an appt for a month. So I put down a deposit(mandatory for first time clients and btw the consult is FREE) and waited the month out. When I came for my appt the wait was minimal. The shampoo itself was worth the month long wait! My loctician went through everything that she would do step by step(even though it was explained to me during the consult). I have extensive damage so was prepared to spend an arm & a leg. I opted out of the hot oil treatment that I had originally scheduled and just had maintenance and repairs done. Several locs were cut them reattached and I took some home for later repairs. Needless to say I spent just over $ 100 and the result was magnificent! I can’t wait until my appt in Oct!

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of hair salons. However, since I don’t like doing my own hair either, and I don’t have a personal hair hookup, a solon is a necessary evil. I’ve been in search for quite some time for a drama-free, quality, natural hair salon. A lot of salons advertise natural hair but they push unnecessary products and services or the services are limited. I wanted a salon that could provide multiple services(for those occasions that I want to change it up). Rasa Salon has it. I started with a two-strand twist creative style and I’ve gotten so many compliments on my first style with my natural hair that I can’t wait to go back. Plus, for women(& men) who may want a natural style but have hair issues that may have cost them to lose some hair, I’ve seen them work a miracles to give the appearance of a full head of hair. PS I can’t remember the last time my mom has stepped foot in a hair salon… but she’s gone to Rasa and will go back. For me… that’s saying a lot about Rasa Salon!

Okay, I just got back from Rasa where I had my cotton head cut by Amber, the loctress and owner, and I have nothing but good words to say. I’m an artist in L.A. and had a hard time finding someone who could cut, then style natural Af-Am. hair. Initially, I went in for a cut of my wash-and-go ‘fro, but Amber suggested palm rolls… and I’m glad she did! She explained everything, from her all-natural products to her cutting technique, and when I left I had a great, cute style. My cottony hair is hard to coil unless they’re tiny-tiny, and Amber was fast. I’m very pleased. About the atmo: chill, spiritual and cool. There were men and women of all colors getting their locs done, and all the stylists’ hair was TIGHT. There was no attitude, drama or bootleg CDs being sold(lol)– just folks of all backgrounds and professions chatting calmly and getting hooked up. When I return to town in 2 months, I’m getting loc’d with Amber. She’s legit. Chinyere(real name)

I’ve been here twice. My first time i had to wait greater than 6 weeks for a consultation with amber which got canceled the day before, and Rasa only accepts new clients after a consult. my experience has been rather pleasing since then though. Although the recommended stylist Amber wasnt taking anymore clients, another talented girl picked me up. I don’t see anything spectacular about this salon that they make you wait so long for a consult, but the staff continue to be very friendly and their styles are awesome.

There’s no one on the east coast as talented as Amber! Great vibe in this place, absolutely worth the wait and the $. I’ve been coming to her for years and wouldn’t go to anyone else.

Amber has been doing my hair for years and I have no complaints… in response to the lady who thought the salon was closed they lock the doors to keep ppl from just walking in if u knock or ring the bell they let u in… Beautiful place with beautiful people
