Went to their open house last week. The realtor wasn’t actually representing the home, he was just opening doors for the agent. But we wanted to know what the taxes were going to be next year. We also asked him if the home had been occupied because we noticed several stains and crumbs were left in the kitchen. The representative asserted that the home had been unoccupied for quite some time and had just acquired some dirt but would be recleaned before selling. (Usually I clean my house beFORE showings, but maybe that’s not how they do business.) When pressed for details he admitted that he had only been in the home for half an hour and was not able to answer any questions fully. Such as, are these the new (2014 adjusted) taxes? Has this home been lived in recently? Basic questions like that were beyond the scope of knowledge for this agent and his property of the day. It wouldn’t be so bad except for the ruse that people must use an experienced listing agent because they think they need to better represent themselves.
