The sandwiches here are a far cry from the hoagies’ I used to buy from Primo’s Deli on Ritner st back in the day. To me the sandwiches are a medigan nightmare. I ordered a hoagie a couple of weeks ago called the«sharp Italian» with everything and oil & lite mayo. It was delivered to me with a seeded roll, Italian meats and provolone cheese. No lettuce, no tomato, no onions and no seasoning. I called back to complain and it must happen often because the lady who answered the phone apologized and offered me a free hoagie whenever I chose to call them back. A few days later, I called back to cash in on my freebie and ordered a hoagie called a «whacked chicken» which was a chicken cutlet with sharp provolone, broccoli rabe, and chopped bruschetta on their seeded roll. Sounds delicious huh? Not! The chicken cutlet wasn’t nearly crisp enough and the breading was separating from the chicken and some of the breading was pasty. The broccoli rabe was chopped beyond recognition and the bruschetta was tasteless. On top of everything, I hate over processed veggies on my hoagie. Machine sliced tomatoes, lettuce and onions may cut your preparation time tremendously, but I love hand torn lettuce and knife chopped tomatoes and onions. I guess I expect too much.

I’m giving them 3 stars because the diablos are good, but the hoagies are seriously lacking. A basic cheese hoagie with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil & vinegar had hardly ANY lettuce, tomato or onion on it, and barely any oil & vinegar. The lettuce was brown and limp. It was one of the blandest and most unsatisfying hoagies I’ve had in a long time. It’s conveniently located to me, and the diablos worthwhile, but I will look elsewhere for my hoagies, probably Lee’s or even Wawa is better.

These guys are great when they actually deliver. If you’re able to drop by the store in person then this gripe is irrelevant, but for those who rely on delivery(like me), it’s frustrating having to hear«Sorry, we’re not delivering today» on an increasingly unpredictable basis. Not sure if it’s because of being short-staffed or whatever the case may be, but I wish they could be consistent with delivery availability. Another negative is that they require a $ 20 minimum to deliver at all, which is unusually high compared to other restaurants nearby. It’s also a mystery to me why they can’t cut the sandwiches for you beforehand considering how tough the particular type of bread they use tends to be; I don’t know about you, but when I’m especially hungry, I don’t feel like struggling to saw my sandwich in half and make a mess in the process. As for food quality, my family and I have rarely been disappointed. Compared to their local competitors, I trust and prefer Primo over anyplace else offering a similar product. I’m looking forward to the day they finally offer online ordering, although I will say that this is the only place that hasn’t sent me running in the opposite direction when it comes time to place an order by phone(that’s why websites like GrubHub exist).

The food is great! The service is some of the worst around. Amazingly, both remain consistent… great food and lousy service. The staff is just dumb. We have been there at least 15 times and are always frustrated by the subtle rudeness and stupidity. The food keeps us coming back!

My first time getting a hoagie here all my friends in the hill kept raving how good it is finally I ordered a Italian hoagie I had taste for boy it was fresh and delicious and filling. I’ll be eating there again when I gotta have Italian hoagie and reasonably price .plus they have limited seating inside about 20 seats

Previously the closest Primo location to me was the one on Keswick Ave which was a goooood 20 minute drive. This one is super close to me(which is problematic as I want to go there all the time), is clean, and the staff are really nice. The hoagies are damn tasty — even my South Philly(where they arguably make the best hoagies) born-and-raised mother enjoys them. Prices *are* a little high. I haven’t ventured outside of the Sharp Italian because I’m boring, but I have heard good things about the other choices. I do wish they had more side options, but i’m not pressed.

Compared to the Chestnut Street location in Center City, this place is a joke. The(primo-sized) hoagies are about $ 2 more per sandwich and they put noticeably less meat in them.

My wife and I were thrilled to see this place open not too long ago. Made a point of stopping by here last weekend and it did not disappoint. Everything inside is nicely done. The menu is off to the side so if you don’t know what you want step away from the line because it’s going to take you about 5 minutes to read the menu. Options seem endless and they accommodate to changes very easily. I added another meat to my Italian and they didn’t even charge me for it. Yes, the prices are a little high, but they load that bread full of meat and cheese, with just enough room for a few toppings. That’s how I like my hoagies, so that’s fine with me. I’d say they use close to 3x the meat of Subway on their sandwiches, so let’s assume you’re not turning into the next Jared Fogle if this becomes your diet. Again, that’s fine with me, I’m not a fan of Jared or Subway anyway. Sandwiches taste great, as do the sides. I recommend the mac salad and of course a pickle. My one criticism would be the service. They’re a little rough around the edges, but maybe they’ll get better with time. They’re not your waiters or anything though so once they hand you a delicious sandwich, who cares what the people behind the counter were like. Hope this place thrives. I’ve been saying for awhile that Chestnut Hill needed a sandwich shop. This is better. P. S.–They deliver!

Ok, they need to work out some kinks– but that was one tasty sandwich. Up the game on the sides, and change your gloves when you go from taking phone orders to making a sandwich, but it was really good…

More expensive than Subway, but hey, you get what you pay for. I love the new location, and despite the unchanged signage, you can park around the back.

This new Primo’s closer to our house than the ones in Glenside or Dresher. It’ll also be the most convenient to everyone in Chestnut Hill. It’s clean and they were nice and quick with the order. Not much more you’re looking for than that.
