I was initially apprehensive to write this review because, well I wanted to keep this hidden gem all to myself, but I must share with the masses how great this store is. I came here in search of Ben Nye makeup. If you don’t know this brand of makeup, Google it. It’s basically a high quality makeup used by the entertainment business (theater, TV, celebrities, etc.) and by professional makeup artists. This is the brand of makeup Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist Mario uses for her contouring, which I’m sure all the ladies have seen. And the best part is it’s super cheap! Same size container of powder at sephora would be $ 40 – 50, here it’s under $ 15.
In addition to Ben Nye products, this store also sells a lot of other theatrical type products (clown makeup, lights, fake scars & blood, etc.) which can be used for those looking to step up their Halloween costume game.
The store is close to center city, and the staff is super helpful & friendly. Just be aware the makeup is non-​refundable, although with how cheap it is, I find this a non-​issue. Definitely check out of you’re into makeup, or just looking for some cheaper, better quality alternatives to the brands at Sephora!

I love this place. I had been to Pierre’s a few times previously and I actually prefer PTS over them. The employees here are very friendly and willing to help assist you with what you’re looking for without literally breathing over your shoulder. I like that when I come in here I can browse for as long as I want without feeling like I’m being forced to quickly make a purchase. I go here for the theatrical makeup, and there is a fairly large amount of Ben Nye, Kryolan and some (very small selection) of Mehron products. If you’re looking for SFX, there are a small amount of options available ranging from fake blood to simple prosthetics. From my own research, you’re not going to find more affordable prices for what they offer anywhere else (especially if you calculate shipping). If you prefer to look online, you can also order online for in store pickup. If an item you order is out of stock, the order and notification process for when it finally arrives is flawless. Sign up for the email list and they will often send discount codes and such. The only downside I have is the lack of samples, as if I go in-​store sometimes I like to swatch an item before purchasing. However, I will most definitely continue ordering from here.

I ordered a bunch of stage makeup from this store online because they had the cheapest prices on Ben Nye foundations I could find. Seriously, you can’t beat it without going to some shady websites done entirely in comic sans. There was very good communication and all my items arrived perfectly. I plan to buy from them again, and would definitely drop into the physical store if I was in the area!

Everything a theatre professional or student could ever imagine, with the exception of costumes. It’s mostly technical equipment, but I go to PTS mainly for their makeup selection, the majority of which are Ben Nye and Kryolan products. Only drawback is that sometimes it’s hard to find parking, but pretty easy to find if you take public transportation. It’s also right near Chinatown.
