Def is not a homemade candy store anymore, although the lady was nice inside I feel that the $ 10 I paid for a half a lb of buttercreams was a rip off bc they were made in a factory probably by Russell Stovers … It had to be bought out and it’s full of stuffed animals no other candy like it used to have, sad bc this ALWAYS used to be my go to candy store not anymore!

Reminds me of a candy store on Frankford Ave in thw 1970s. Friendly staff, great selection. If you are old and remember them, I was able to get Flying Saucers there. Good assortment of chocolates, gummies, jelly beans, etc. All the greats. Has an old time candy scale, which is cool. Right next to Las Margaritas, come here for dessert.

Ostroffs has been a family favorite for generations. My dad used to take me to K&A for treats when I was a kid and later we would drive from Md for special Easter or Christmas candy. Came back to Philadelphia today and went to the location on Welsh RD. it’s Ostroffs, the same meltaways and other delicious chocolates but they have way too many stuffed animals. The Ostroffs I remember with Sol and Goldie were pure candy. It’s a shame but I’m glad that this new family is still selling the good stuff. Get a lb assorted box, start with a half or third of meltaways then add your favorites, one by one or two by two, its fun to make your own assortment. $ 19.99 a lb.

If you read my last review, you know I’ve been searching the city for great Valentines Day chocolate. After a long day of sampling at Stutz, I happened upon this little shop on Welsh, where I was greeted by a sweet old lady with very, very broken English. I got from her that not everything is made on location, and when I asked her to recommend something that was, she answered in one word: «Meltaways.» “Huh?” “Meltaways. Here. Meltaways.“ And so I tried a meltaway, and I died. The search ended there. Ab-so-lute-ly incredible. First of all, after an afternoon of tasting, you’d think that my palate would’ve been shot. But no! This powerful, perfectly textured chocolate-on-chocolate treat(that really, truly, honestly melts away in your mouth, really) awakened every taste bud in my mouth. So, I didn’t try any other candy in the store, and you don’t need to either. Meltaways are like 15 bucks a pound, and they WILL make your woman/man love you. I love the woman who sold them to me.
