This hookah lounge was the most boring hookah lounge I ever been to in my life. So boring that I left after I paid 10 dollars just to get in that the one person working there refused to refund to me! They didn’t have half the stuff that was listed on their menu. There was very limited hookah selections and barely any food to choose from. When the employee called her owner on the phone, the owner said I can call cops because he wasn’t going to refund my money. The couches had holes in them and the employer was watching Netflix shows on tv. She didn’t have any music on! She called it movie night. There was only two other customers in the back who were making out on the couches. Goes to show you how dead the lounge is! I was treated horribly! There was so little of food selection I was told to go to the Chinese restaurant next door! I will not be surprised if this lounge gets shut down! Please save yourself the headache and go to Sol Luna tea room if you are interested in a hookah lounge with great prices like I did afterwards! It is the worse lounge I ever been to in my life and I regret going there!!!

This place sucks! Went in here tonight to have a good time on a Wednesday night. Place was dead. Literally nobody there. Lady at the front watching some wacky shit on netflix. They didn’t have the flavor of hookah we wanted that was on the menu. Also, wanted to order a cheeseburger from food menu, which they also did not have. They had holes in the sofa. I don’t know what kind of place this is. Before purchasing anything we wanted a refund. Lady is front refused to give us a refund. The boss refused to get on the phone. Never seen a place like this before. Wouldn’t recommend this shit to my worst enemy. Definitely pissed off. Wasted $ 30 to the trash and didn’t get anything.

This place is a bit different from what I expected, but I would still probably come back. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff here. I came on a Saturday night(maybe around 7?) and the girl working was really friendly and accommodating. She frequently checked up on us and was happy to change our coals and hookah flavor as requested. I kinda wish they’d left tongs for us to tend to the coals ourselves, but I can’t complain since I didn’t think to ask at the time. It’s $ 10 per person and you can change flavors every 45 minutes. We ordered fries and mozzarella sticks as well. The fries were good but the mozz sticks were a little cold on the inside. I’m sure the girl working would have taken them back to reheat or something if I had requested, but I kinda just shrugged it off and kept eating them. The music and light show kinda turned me off. I come to hookah to relax and unwind a bit before going out, so the EDM(not just audio, they had music videos up around the place too) wasn’t too appealing to me. Same with the lights; I would have preferred a calm, dimly lit area as opposed to the seizure-inducing thing they have going on. Oh, and as you walk up to the door there’s a sign that says no outside food or drink but once you’re inside there’s a sign that says BYOB. Not sure what to make of that. Overall, I had a pretty good experience and would recommend checking it out. I’d call in advance for a table because the place is pretty small, but comfy.

Onyx is the best hookah in philly straight up Outstanding customer service, management and the boss is great, staff is professional and on point and super fast with serving hookahs and changing tops and charcoals on time, we go here on the regular now and we highly recommend Onyx Hookah Lounge to everyone. Music is awesome, there are tv’s in each Vip room and 4 more in the main room, nice and warm inside and they always have shisha that’s on the menu!!! Quality over quantity is what Onyx all about!!!

Onyx Hookah Lounge is the best place in Northeast Philly to smoke hookah and listen to great music. Great service and staff, quality hookah, and awesome food. Onyx is definitely the spot

The worst service ever. My husband and I went here to try out a new hookah lounge because we were in the area and we waited 10 mins before an order was taken and 25 mins before deciding to leave because we hadn’t gotten our hookah yet. After asking for our money back because you pay before getting anything, we were refused. There was no manager on site, no boss or anyone to fix the problem other than the female at the register and other running around helping other people.(very unprofessional) After 15 more mins of going back and fourth about there poor service we finally got our money back.

This place sucks. The music is too loud that I had to scream to my friend while trying to talk. Oh and the servers are rude and takes forever just to get one hookah. Honestly I recommend you to go anywhere besides here.

Had a great time here. Wanted to check out a cool place in philly and found this place on Unilocal.Roman the owner was very nice and accommodated us. Cool place for a quick stop a good music. We had a situation with an other group there. Unfortunately if u go a little late people are a little drunk and ghetto but other then that we had a good time. I might check out this place again if we’re in town.

I came to Onyx with some friends while I was back in Philly for the holidays. Having been to a lot of Hookah Bars in the Philly area, this is definitely one of the best. You only need to pay $ 10 at the door, but the hookah is unlimited after that. There’s lot’s of flavors to choose from, and all the ones we tried were good. The ambiance is very friendly — you can chat and hang out with the owners and everyone is very down to earth. They also play music videos on the TVs, which provides a good background, especially if you are in a partying mood. We had a big group of friends here and all had a lot of fun — highly recommend it!

Friends took me here when I was visiting Philly. Being from SF, I have pretty high standards, and gotta say, this place was great! Great ambiance, unlimited hookah, nice décor, and good music. They also have smaller private rooms which are nice for small groups.

This place was awful. First me and my party we coerced into getting a ‘private room’, this is just an area sectioned off by strings and cost $ 5 more than the regular entry. Then they let our coals burn down to literally nothing. When the hostess said she was bringing us more coals, it took 15 before she came back. By that time we were putting our coats on and leaving. On my way out I told the other hostess I was disappointed with the service and the evening and she gave me attitude ‘what did you want new coals every fifteen minutes’. No but we were there for an hour and half close to two and no one came to check on is even once. ANDYOUDONTLEAVETONGSTOCLEARTHEASHFROMTHECOALS??? Not going back, wouldn’t recommend it. The waitstaff sucked and it’s overpriced for being a shitty dive hookah.

Onyx is a great place to enjoy a nice hookah session if you’re in the Northeast. I’m an avid hookahthusiast and I always enjoy trying out new flavors at hookah lounges before buying them. It’s $ 10/person and you get 1 hookah per 2 people(If you’re in a party of 4, you get 2, etc.) You can try out different flavors that way. I’m not sure about the time limit to switch shisha flavors, I didn’t stay long enough to do it but I’m sure it’s probably 30 minutes or so. Onyx has a wide variety of flavors and knows how to pack their shisha. The atmosphere is a bit different than your typical hookah lounge. This is because they play EDM here, but I’m not going to complain, I’ve been a fan of ‘trance’ since I was a kid. You can still have conversation with your friends with the music in the background. Roman(One of the owners) is a really down to earth guy and our group had great conversation with him as well. The only downfall is that they use autolight coals but that’s not a big deal, you can still get a great smoke from it. Definitely would recommend anyone who wants to smoke some shisha to try this place out. 5 stars.
