Fairly descent ice cream. Seems to have changed ownership within the past year. Good water ice. A closer option than Rita and the Custard store.

You will probably stop in for the ice cream(great) and water ice(also great) but the real gem is the pulled pork. It is the best I have had in the Philly area.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Most important is that the homemade water ice is very fresh and superbly flavored and the soft-serve ice milk here is wonderfully creamy. Then there is incredibly convenient parking, that everyone is friendly, and that everything is reasonably priced – and sometimes on a special promo.

They roped me in with a free sample after one of my Manayunk Sports and Social league games and earned themselves a loyal customer. Friendly and delicious means Nick’s is certainly worth stopping at if you are any near that end of Manayunk. I recommend Mango, enjoy!

Awesome seasonal place. Great water ice, but good hot food too. Get a hot dog for a buck, or hot sausage for $ 2. Great owner, great food, altogether great! Try Frank’s Wednesday specials too – you will NOT regret it!!!

Their pulled pork is not as pulled as I’d expect it to be, but it more than makes up for it with flavor. That is one tasty little sammich and probably the best sammich(cheesesteak, hoagie) I’ve had so far in Philly(though I guess I’ve only had 4). But on an absolute scale it’s still a winner. I’m still thinking about those juicy bits of fat that have the most flavor ever. Mmm mmm. Tried a water ice too, which was good. Can’t compare to other water ices as I haven’t had any others. Friendly, cheerful service. Nick obviously takes a lot of pride and care in this place. Definitely worth a visit! Be sure to bring cash.

Yo, this water ice joint is seriously«in the cut»! If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you could drive by it in a flash. Which is exactly what I did. One day, I was heading to the wings joint just up the block from here and I did a double take. Hold up, Hold up, did that place just say water ice? Now, I am a self-proclaimed water ice connoisseur. Once I saw that sign, I just knew that the wings had to wait. I did a U-turn right in the middle of Ridge Avenue during rush hour traffic… and this feat was greatly rewarded. You see, Nick’s Ices and Ice Cream offers not just those two wonderful treats, but a whole variety of breakfast items, cheesesteaks, pulled pork, pretzels, etc. I liked the food selection, but most of all I liked the prices. Very recession friendly… me likey! There are a few stools and a counter that goes around the perimeter and a large flat screen but this spot is mostly grab-n-go. So, not only did I get an awesome water ice, but I got a pizza pretzel AND a cheesesteak! The steak was a little on the small side, but considering the price and the taste, after the first bite, it didn’t even matter. I don’t think I need to tell you that I never made it to the wings spot. Try Nick’s Ices and Ice Cream. They won’t disappoint.

Best.Water.Ice.Ever. My boyfriend and I live right around the corner and are in there all the time. The owner, Nick, is almost always there when we go in. He’s super-friendly and is always coming up with great new stuff. It’s the best water ice I’ve ever had and from what the neighbors have told me they also have great sandwiches. A definite must-visit if you are ever in the Roxborough area.

Water ice is better than Rita’s. Best pulled pork that I’ve had in the Roxborough/Manayunk area. Get there early because if its late, its likely to be sold out. They smoke some butts out back but since they likely take 12+ hours once they are gone you’re going to have to wait till the next day. They use frozen beef for their cheese steaks. I usually like to see fresh when ordering a steak but they managed to make a very tasty steak out of it. If you want to unleash your inner child they have hugz(the little juice containers). Do it. Haven’t had anything yet that I wasn’t impressed/satisfied with. What water ice place has legitimate smoked meats?

Seasonal water ice/ice cream stand that sells good food for cheap, for reals. I always knew they had breakfast here but, after dinner this past Thursday, I popped in with my lady for a sprinkle cone and saw the super friendly owner, Nick, whipping up a heavenly looking sandwich for the customer in line ahead of me. Lights shinning directly on the meat he was heating and a mixed drink or two in my belly combined to mesmerize me(much to the anger of the hungry people behind me), and once he noticed my ogling, it only took him mouthing the words«pulled pork» to seal the deal. Five fifty and the hatred of the rest of the customers was the price I gladly paid to score the last twelve inch sandwich they had(apparently he smokes two shoulders a day behind the building), and it was more than worth it. Tender and juicy, drenched in sauce, and loaded thick onto a foot long steak roll, for under $ 6… it’s like he designed it especially for me. I opted for no cheese or slaw, but that is just my way of eating it. Sauce was a thinner variety, with an appropriate smoke flavor, but it wasn’t especially spicy; all you heat lovers need to do is sprinkle a few drops of hot sauce on and you’ll be golden. Also got a cone of vanilla with rainbow sprinkles; ice cream was cold and sprinkles were colorful, and it was just what my cholesterol levels needed to wash down the two burgers and jumbo pork log I had just consumed. **Cash only, but ATM on site**

Hands down the best water ice I’ve ever had. Nick, the owner, is usually at the shop and mixes all the flavors himself. He’s always got a smile on his face and scoop in his hand– ready to help you out with whatever you need. I usually get a lime and tangerine gelati with vanilla soft serve, but I’ve also tried their lemon, cherry and vanilla water ices, all of which are DYNAMITE! I mean it. I just had a gelati. It was like summer in a dixie cup, I’ve been waiting for months for it to reopen(they’re seasonal and close when the leaves start to drop, open as soon as spring comes knocking). Better yet, they hire neighborhood kids to work at the shop, and everything’s very local. NOTE: Nick’s Ices and Ice Cream is their new name as of this 2010 season, before then it was named Neveah’s Water Ice, and before that Michael’s Water Ice, but it has been owned by Nick for a few years.
