The girl with the really long hair did me in early July 2015. She was on the phone with T-mobile half the time and burned me repeatedly with the flatiron. Your hair will come out well but don’t expect good service.

Better THan Expected… I took my 11 year old daughter here to get«the works». She had individuals in her hair for a couple of months and didn’t feel like fighting with it. I called on a Friday and the person who answered the phone was very nice, was up front with pricing and told me the hours. I arrived with my daughter on a Saturday morning around 8:30am, we were out by 10:30am. It was not crowded, which was a relief for a Saturday morning. It was clean and the staff was nice. I told her what I wanted and that’s what I got. My daughter hair looks amazing. The staff is very friendly and I will be back. It was affordable, convenient and I was happy to support a neighborhood business.

They never understand what ur asking for and it cost $ 30 to do what other hair places ask for $ 25. They don’t like when you ask questions smh. Don’t come here and W/B/C $ 30.

My first time coming to a PA salon. I wrote a previous review on the Dominican Salon on Leigh. Maria’s was not crowed, very laid back & friendly. They played gospel music which I was very surprised of but happy. Very relaxing salon. so, relaxer selection is limited which I wasn’t happy w/seems like they only have Precise. Application was alright even though she got some on my face & didn’t use any Vaseline around my edges. Shampooed well, roller set was fast. I sat under the dryer for about 35 mins. Ok so I knew this was going to be a problem as I don’t get my roots blown after a relaxer. I advised the stylist to spirial curl my hair with her fingers after removing each curl but of course she didn’t Understand. I only found that places in Harlem & a salon in BK called Sisters does this. All & all my experience was alright. At the end of the day I wouldn’t ever get a relaxer in PA when I can pay $ 35 instead of 45, 55& be able to chose between a selection of relaxers.

This was my 1st time getting my natural hair blow out. She did well, but I wish she straightened my edges on the left side a little better. I’ve had my hair washed(when I had weave in) by the Dominicans and had better results with my edges. Overall It was great! I was done in 2 hrs. I received a wash, deep condition, roller set, blowout and she flat ironed/curled my hair then pinned it up all for $ 27. $ 2 extra for using bobby pins(bring your own). Mon, Tues, & Wed — $ 25 for wash, deep condition, roller set, trim and blowout All other days a wash and blow out is $ 25 and with deep condition is $ 35. I went on a Friday and brought my own deep conditioner so she didn’t charge me $ 35. I would recommmend. Great price! I’ll def go again!

My hairstylist is in Jersey and I live Philly but my hair disaster couldn’t wait for the drive since I have work. I remember seeing a sign for Dominican hair salon near the ShopRite in West Philly and off I went! All I needed was a wash and set and luckily Mon-Wed they have a wash n’ set special of $ 30! Right up my college budget alley! I came straight from work so it was almost 6 which is when they close but they sat me right down and took care of me! Only downfall is they don’t take debit/credit but I didn’t mind since I was desperate. My hair came out silky smooth just like my stylist back home does. I will definitely be coming back! And it’s so close to university city!

I have been growing out my relaxer for almost a year and have been trying out different natural styles: kinky twists, braids, etc. Well, I got tired of the braids/twists and was ready to go back to a straight hairstyle for awhile. I was tempted to go back to my regular hairstylist in Jersey who, while she does a GREAT job is too far and too expensive. So I decided to try out this salon instead, and I am very satisfied with the results. While I wouldn’t go there for any complicated style – feathering, cutting, etc. They do an excellent job of performing the basic service that I need: my hair straightened, shiny, soft, and manageable for a couple weeks. I don’t think my hair was this soft and straight during all the years I’ve been getting a relaxer! My only complaint is that sometimes they get my hair SO straight that it doesn’t have alot of volume, but I fix that by putting rollers in at the crown to sleep in at night. Anyway, I will definitely be returning to Maria’s on 52nd street: it’s very inexpensive, close to my house, the ladies are very nice, and they do a great job. Oh, and if you go when they’re not busy, you can be in and out in about a hour/hour and a half.

This place rocks. After having a partial sew in for 6 weeks.(I usually only wear it for the occasion and then take it out).I was soooo ready to have it taken out and MY hair washed. I called on a Thursday morning and explained that I would be coming on my lunch break. I walked in at 11:45 and after removal of sew in, deep conditioner, blow out and style. I was walking out at 1:30. The my hair came out silky smooth and straight and smells good too. The only con I have is that they only take cash… no debit or credit cards. I’m VERY particular about who touches my hair, however, I would go back again.
