Mamma Mia never disappointed me when it comes to Pizza, they are very close to my old home and they open late. 4 Cheese Pizza is delicious and tasty. They have big plasma TV where you can watch EU Soccer games, staff are very friendly, if you are regular there they will knew your order by default. Their pizza quality never drop even if you order very late. They have Minimum $ 10 order for Credit card. Sadly Mamma Mia Pizzeria is closed now because of the fire incident that ruin the whole place! I hope they can renovate it very soon.

So I finally decided to get pizza from them. It was a little sub-par, my slice of white. But I will grant them an extra star for their awesome chicken cheesesteaks. Perhaps I did find a diamond in the rough.

I came to Mama Mia’s for a quick lunch with my boyfriend after walking around Rittenhouse. I ordered a mini calzone with mozzarella, basil, and roasted red peppers. After waiting nearly 30 minutes(we were the only people there), my calzone literally had 2 roasted red peppers on it and the dough was not even CLOSE to being cooked enough to be edible. I took it back and was not offered my money back despite the long wait and not being able to eat. Never going back again.

I used to enjoy stopping into this place because it was close, they sell Mexican Fanta(with real sugar), and the crust is thin and crispy when you order it by the slice and it comes hot out of the oven. I was even able to overlook the few occasions when the late night staff would short change me to fund their own tip jar(this actually happened right in front of me). I guess they assumed I was drunk, and not just working late. I took a Mamma Mia moratorium in 2011 when Inside Edition took video footage of mice running rampant in the restaurant, but, foolishly assuming the problem was eventually taken care of and being monitored, I returned as a customer. And then, while I was working from home one day, I was delivered a pizza. When I got it to my table, I noticed 2 dried pieces of mouse feces on top of the pizza box. On further inspection, I found one more inside the pizza box, clinging to the wax paper that is supposed to shield my pizza from the cardboard. I think I’ll take my chances with hantavirus elsewhere from now on.

Been here twice — the first time I was VERY clear that I wanted NO ricotta in my calzone. The thing was packed with ricotta. Second time, I ordered two slices. one was their cheese steak version of a slice; the second I picked the slice up, all of the ingredients just fell off and I was left with just the dough. and a pile of meat. The other slice looked like it was a white pizza; when I got the slice, it was just straighr ricotta on top of the dough. I threw both slices out. This place needs some serious work. unless you just can’t seem to get enough ricotta in your life.

I am pretty pissed off actually. These cheese steaks hardly have much meat on them. I’m hungry and got a cheesesteak with fries and I’m still hungry! I was over charged for my order by 50 cents, I know it’s not much but do I have to be overcharged for something that sucks. I am never coming here again, it is just the closest place to my house, but I don’t feel like being ripped off.

Judging from the negative reviews, I must have caught them on a good night. This is your standard run of the mill pizza parlor. Good quality, relatively cheap, nice staff. Sauce, crust, and cheese all tasted good to me. Also a good place if you are hungry and trying to catch the late night train back to Jersey, like me.

For a late night slice, this place is in a good location, the guys are nice and the pizza is decent, with a good variety.

The pizza here is okay if you’re really hungry. They have lots of different toppings available by the slice, but the pizza just isn’t that great. The pizza isn’t thin enough to my liking, the crust is big and doughy and the people don’t even put it in the oven long enough to heat up. The sauce is thin and watery and sort of has a sweet taste to it. I’ll only be back here when I’m really hungry and too lazy to walk anywhere else… or if I’m too drunk to care.

Biggest mystery in all of Philly– who in their right mind likes this place? I have no clue how they are busy so often or how they’ve stayed open so long. Plain and simple– I hate this place because the pizza seriously has ZERO taste. It’s not that it tastes bad. It just honestly has zero taste. Even if you pick out one ingredient and eat just that– still no taste. The crust– NO taste. The sauce– no taste. The cheese the toppings etc etc NOTASTEWHATSOEVER. This food is known in the medical field as nothing more than a space occupying lesion(SOL). It fills your belly and only costs a few bucks. Seriously though, I want to know from everyone else who has eaten here– other than polite service and a convenient location, are you really here for anything else? Is there anyone out there who actually thinks this place has TASTY pizza? As a pizza lover since birth, I have to say– most bland pizza I have ever had in my life. Even 7 – 11 has better pizza. Yes, 7-freaking-11 has better tasting pizza and it’s frozen, then reheated and put under a heat lamp and then sold to you at the ridiculous price of ONE dollar a slice and somehow it tastes BETTER, than this place. When I was 6 I put Ragu sauce on a piece of wonder bread and then a slice of cheese on it. I stuck it in the microwave for about 30 seconds and guess what? EVENTHIS tasted better than the four slices of pizza that I have had at Mamma Mia Pizzeria. They get an extra star for being well managed and still knowing how to run a business, despite having God-awful food.

This is the closest pizza place to my apartment, and while it’s not bad, I wish it would be more consistent. Sometimes(like today for lunch) the slices are fresh & tasty. And other times they’re dry or soggy and bland. Luckily for me I’ve had more of the former than the latter, hence the three stars. It is open late night but the availability of slices(even standard ones) seems to vary wildly. I’ve always found the staff to be friendly. At some point I’m going to try ordering a whole pie and maybe some other things on the menu, so stay tuned for an updated review.

I work only a few blocks away and this is a solid choice for a quick slice on the go. They always have a ton of pies on display and anything can be made with whole wheat dough. To respond to the review of the pizza not being reheated properly– it’s unfortunate you had that experience but my slices have always been hot and crispy. I’ve also enjoyed their calzones, often in more than one sitting because they are huge! On a negative note– I did have a less than satisfactory experience with an Italian hoagie, but I’ve let it slide because, after all, they are a pizzeria.

The burger & chicken sandwiches and battered fries awesome. The burger is really big and comes on a pillowy kaiser roll. They have a bunch of interesting burger combinations such as the Quattro Formaggi which has feta, mozzarella, gorgonzola, and provolone. No, it’s not gourmet italian, but it’s a four-star neighborhood pizza joint.

I go here all the time because it is close to where I live. I think the pizza is pretty good. Generally have a good selection of specialty slices to choose from. I like the sandwiches best — eggplant and chicken parm. I have had the grilled chicken options which were good. Other sandwiches are not their thing so be warned. I ordered the rueben once and it was gross, cold, and just slices of meat with russian dressing on the side. Their chicken salad sandwich was iffy too. Their wraps aren’t the best either. Stick to traditional italian sandwiches or pizza and you’ll be fine. Their calzones are huge and delicious too. And their sides/apps are pretty good too. They are semi expensive though. But convenience wins for me. They are also slow. If you call ahead for a sandwich, definitely give them 20 minutes.

I went here last night with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. He wanted a sandwich or something. I didn’t feel like having a debate on the merits of potential restaurant selections. So here we went. I should have had that debate. The décor is okay for a center city pizza joint — nothing inspired, but nothing out of place. A couple flat screen tvs. Booths. Center tables. The booths, however, were not wiped and full of crumbs. This didn’t seem to dissuade the bum who entered the establishment, had an argument with the teller, and then sat down to eat. Whatever. The prices are cheap. But I discovered why shortly. This place is located next to the arts college. And there’s the rub — uninspired, cheap food for non-discerning eaters on a budget. The pizza slices on display looked dry. The ITALIANO cheesesteak I ordered was also dry. And limp. And meek. And tiny. And gross. Certainly much worse than bigger name cheesesteak joint hacks. And that’s saying a lot coming from me. My friend’s pizza cheesesteak was similar… except his bun was soaked and wet from the sauce. Overall I would rate this cheesesteak experience ‘a wet fart’. The counter people, be they Latin workers or disheveled college kids, weren’t necessarily interested in either customer service or food presentation. But I’m not bitter. It’s just what it is. Come here if you don’t need or want great quality or taste. If simply putting not foul food in your mouth is your aim, Mamma Mia should suffice.

Now, I’m from the«a pizza is generally a pizza» school of thought on the matter. There are a few exceptions for me: Di Lorenzo’s in Trenton, Nomad in Hopewell and Lazaro’s, right around the corner from my house. All and all, though, their pizza id good if not grand. But what is grand, friends, is their calzone. Ask for extra ricotta cheese and make sure the Hispanic dude is in the kitchen when you do. Otherwise, this place is a serious miss. BUT when he’s on, it’s on and I’m full for days. As to ambiance, well, there really isn’t any. And I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone eating in there with whom I want to have a coffee or bit of conversation, but it’s pizza. Take it home and pig out where no one can judge, like it’s meant to be eaten.

This is not your typical pizzeria in Philly… where to begin? The place looks nice… uhm. it’s in rittenhouse so you’d assume nice huh? well… i guess it’s clean. but the food… bleehhhh. not just the taste but the way i felt afterwords. i felt like i wasn’t hipster enough or dressed in a suit, therefore i didn’t fit in. the staff themselves seemed to be in a terrible mood. i felt like i was taking away their time from watching wheel of fortune or painting my nails. i don’t know, the staff was to say the least, not friendly. i’ve had better pizza for a better price. just because your slices are huge doesn’t make up for the american cheese on the pizza. for goodness sakes use mozarella or something else not sliced american! MEH! go somewhere else…

Neighborhood gourmet pizza shop. Sounds like a good idea, right? Menu looks good, but they just can’t seem to deliver. Literally. You can’t beat the convenience in the neighborhood, since there aren’t many options for a quick bite on the way back from the subway stop. The slices are pretty good if you have the time to swing by and pick it out yourself, but if you’re ordering for delivery, I’ve had places closer to the Art museum show up faster. First delivery took 45 minutes. Not acceptable for a place that’s across the street. Delivery guy finally shows up, and calls me to come 16 floors down to the front door because he didn’t want to get a parking ticket. Seriously? I mean, if I had the opportunity to walk a pizza across the street and make a couple bucks in 3 minutes while the guys load me up for another round of deliveries, I’d jump on it. But they’re in the neighborhood so I gave them another shot. Second delivery experience? Same. Except after 45 minutes raging hunger prompted me to leave the work I was immersed in, go down there and see what was up. Stromboli on top of the oven by itself, staff standing around, delivery driver sitting idly, watching a muted Italian music video on a flat screen. Apparently no other orders came in so my order didn’t warrant a trip. So my delivery quickly turned into take-out. The stromboli was a little soggy after sitting there for a while. The verdict? Stop by for a slice, but skip the delivery.

This is the closest pizza place to my house. When I’ve had a long day and there’s nothing in my fridge but tortillas, lemon curd and a sad zucchini(true story, last night), Mamma Mia is there for me. The pizza isn’t the best around, but it’s not the most expensive around, either, and it comes out quick. Speaking of zucchini, one time I got a little brave and ordered a zucchini parm hoagie. That was a bad move, unless you like watery sandwiches. Stick to the pizza, and you’ll do alright here.

Mama Mia is my neighborhood pizza joint, and as neighborhood pizza joints go, it could be a lot worse. The pizza, as Robin S. has noted, is usually pretty damn good, except for sometimes when it’s not-so-good. I usually opt for the bbq chicken or mushroom — two solid choices even when they’re 12 hours old.(Once they throw them in the big oven and warm ‘em up, you can’t tell anyway.) Their soda case is often completely empty except for Gatorade, which is disappointing. And delivery! Worst. delivery. ever. — we got a pie delivered once, because it was raining, and we didn’t feel like going outside — it took over an hour(even though we’re 2 blocks away) and the pie was cold when it arrived. Lame. But…they’re close to my house. And when the slices are good, they are very good. So good that I’ll allow them a screw-up or two.
