I was so disappointed in this restaurant and how much it has gone down in the last few years! I ordered chicken tikka over the telephone and when I got there I was charged $ 14 for lunch. I told the man behind the counter that the menu states 9.99 and his reponse was that I ordered a very very mild chicken tikka and that it cost them more money for the extra cream! He asked me over the telephone if I wanted it spicy or mild and I said mild. I accused him of being a liar and a cheat. Isaid mild not very mild! I will never go back ever!

Malik’s Mini Mart and their restaurant, Malik’s Tandoori have been in the neighborhood since before I was born. One taste of their food, and you will see why. It is absolutely amazing. I usually get the vegetarian platter, which for 8 dollars, is HUGE. Their samosas are awesome too. The owner is really nice and I have always felt very welcome when ever i visit. Overall, excellent food, great people, and… what else do you need?

fresh meats all around i have ordered chicken there i have been invited by the owner to see the lambs and goats in the cooler. As Greeks, we need a lamb for Easter. After last years fiasco of going to an unkempt farm on 413 to pickup a lamb, i cannot go back there for the sake of good digestion. I will buy a chunk of leg lamb and they will cut for souvlaki they also have the greek brand pita bread

Malik’s is the reason why I created a Unilocal account. This guy’s little take out joint in the back of the mini mart is some of the best Indian food I have ever had in my entire life, and I’ve tried a LOT of different places. The only place that even comes close is the food that I had while in India(and he gives even them a run for the money). He is also one of the nicest restaurant owners I have ever met. The only time I sat in and ate there he personally greeted our table to ask about the food. Every time I go there he checks up what I have been up to, and he even remembers our order. I can’t say enough good things about Malik’s, and quite frankly, anyone giving this place anything less than 4 stars simply does not know good Indian food.

This is a butcher, not a baker, or candle stick maker. If you are looking to buy good cuts of meats(pretty sure they are halal), like beef, goat, or lamb this is your place. If you would like to get take out — go somewhere else. The meat in the dishes are good quality but that is ruined by over spicing of the dishes. Now I love spicy food. I often will gargle with sriracha sauce, but here the food is so spicy that you loose any flavor of the meat or veggies or lentils. Their paneer in their dishes is the same frozen junk they sell. So it has the consistency of rubber and the flavor as well. Their naan is lacking, greasy, flimsy, and dry all at the same time. My search for good Indian/Pakistani take out continues.

If you can tell the difference between Indian food and Pakistani food, you will LOVE Maliks Tandoor. They do have a nice mix of both including south indian dishes, but it is not the typical indian restaurant that this city seems to be full of. Everything that comes out of the tandoor oven is fabulous, from chicken, beef, lamb, shrimp, etc! The butter chicken is just what it sounds like and oh-so-good. The samosa chat is authentic style like you would get from a street vendor in Pakistan. The only thing on the menu that I haven’t loved is the biryani, but my husband does and he’s all about the authentic so go figure. The service can be slow sometimes, but the food is fresh and actually being cooked in the Tandoor oven, so it’s always worth the wait! The grocery store I would describe as non-plussed, put they have Pakola, a green ice-cream soda from Pakistan. Only place in the city that has it regularly and plenty in stock!

Malik’s Chicken Tikka Masala is really good. But the service is very very poor… almost frustrating to order from them. I ordered food and had to wait in the store for over an hour without anyone even recognizing I was there. I thought they forgot about me. The owner walked by me like 10 times and just ignored that I was there. I had to ask him where my order was constantly. They seem to be very disorganized in the back as well where they cook. They don’t know who ordered what and in what order. I’ve ordered from them many times(because its good), but I advise everyone to order on the phone from them and then call constantly to see if your food is ready. Don’t come in to ask, because you may never leave.

See, this is what I love about the Northeast. I walk into Malik’s and Malik himself asks me where I’m from. «I’m from here,» I say. «From Philly.» «Ha! Don’t kid me, man. Ha, ha.» «I swear, I’m from Philly.» Indeed, in this fabulously diverse immigrant community, we Philadelphians are hard to come by – and apparently I don’t look like one anyone. Anyway, Malik runs an Indo-Pak and Middle-Eastern store/butcher. You can get just about any cut of meat from Malik, but don’t go there for the rest of your grocery needs. The place is pretty small as it is, and half of the shelves are empty.
