I’m not a coffee snob by any means but their coffee taste so bad :(first visit I ordered a café au lai, it was terrible… it tasted very weak and just… blah dirty water… this place is right by my school so I gave it another try in hopes it would be better; so I ordered an americano: X yuck… and its kind of hard to make an americano taste bad(or so i thought!)… such a shame! maybe its their coffee beans that they use? the environment is super cute, staff was kind and friendly. I asked one of my friends who came with me, how her coffee was– and without me even discussing anything about their coffee, she tell me «it taste like water. Water with coffee color…» So I think it’s their water to coffee bean ratio that is making their coffee taste so bad. Please don’t hold back on your coffee beans! We come for caffeine! Otherwise we’d order tea :) will def be going back to see if it changes.

If I could give this no stars I would. The personality of the barista I had was horrible. I know it was early in the morning, but the attitude was just unacceptable. I ordered a hot chocolate and a cappuccino. When I asked her questions about the drinks she acted like I should’ve known. She kept rolling her eyes right in front of my face… It’s not like my order was complicated and long. She definitely shouldn’t be working in a service based industry with her poor attitude. With that being said… I definitely will not be going back!

Vanilla latte and a chocolate Croissant for less than $ 5! Can’t beat that. I love the personality of this little shop, quaint and convenient. The barista was lovely and attentive. I hope to be a regular since it’s so close to my office. Try the Almond or chocolate croissant– fresh, flakey and delicious!

This is a fine little coffee shop, best perhaps for its location right next door to Lore’s Chocolates! Of course, chocolate and coffee go super well together, so I stopped in for a mocha after picking up a few sweets at the candy store. Make it a «double-Lore» and support a local merchant by shopping at both!

Lore’s is delightful. Two people run the shop most of the time, and they will remember regular customers and their orders. They are charming, down to earth, and have put up with my multi-item orders and bizarre antics. For instance: Paying with coins out of a small cardboard box. Ordering off sticky notes shaped like puppies. Asking questions about their croissants. Lore’s is friendly, fast, efficient, and priced perfectly. This isn’t really a place to sit around inside, so the fact that there’s no wifi is irrelevant to me. It’s a great small business, so it also doesn’t bother me that they only take cash. I really love the iced coffee and all suggestions I’ve received were welcome/tasty.

Bought a coffee and muffin for only $ 3! You can’t beat that! The employees were friendly and knew the menu items well. This is a cash only place.

IMHO, BEST chocolate shop in the city! Absolutely delicious, and the employees are incredibly friendly and kind! Very very good coffee and espresso(the«Red Eye» used to be my jam for quite some time– that’ll perk ya up in NO time!) Please go to Lores and explore all of their wonderful goodies! You will NOT be disappointed!

seriously cute little coffee shop with almost no seating. but no worries, you will still likely get one of the two window seats overlooking 7th street. pretty quaint, romantic even. less expensive than starbucks too.

I read in a weekly Unilocal that Lore’s has great chai, so I made it a special project to get down here since it’s not opened during the weekends and closes at 5 on the week days. Unfortunately, I did not feel like the chai was worth the effort. Perhaps the other drinks here are better? This is also cash only(one of my pet peeves)! And no wifi!

Lore’s is a little coffee shop with basic options but great taste. I just happened to see it mentioned in the newest edition of Philly’s «The Weekly Unilocal,» which was coincidental and appreciated timing as I was walking in the city in search of my start-the-day coffee fix. Most people come in and order their java to go, which makes sense since there are only two seats at the window table. And at only $ 3 for a medium mocha latte, I was very pleased to be putting bills back in my wallet rather than coins in my pocket as my change.

Lore’s is my go to spot for cup of coffee. They serve La Colombe for the most reasonable prices I’ve seen($ 1.25, $ 1.50, and $ 1.75 respectively) and you get a discount for bringing your own mug. The baristas are friendly hipsters who decorate the place with a bunch of lights around the holidays and play awesome music. What more could you want? Pumpkin lattes!!! It’s almost that time and I can’t wait!

If you are looking for a pleasant staff, and some good caffeinated liquids, this is a sure bet. The price is right, and the conversation… interesting.

The experience here depends on the barista. They used to have an awesome, energetic guy who would suggest new and exciting beverages, but now it’s the same old same old. I can’t be convinced that your coffee will wake me up if you look hungover and won’t even say thank you. Prices comparable to Starbucks. Drink consistency changes with the person there… number of shots, how much syrup, etc. Generally things taste good, though.

This is where I stop for my afternoon cup on the way back to work when the weather is cooperating enough for me to lunch in Washington Sq. Park or at «Delicatessen.» The coffee is good and I really appreciate the cute little homey feel, right in the middle of the city.

I love Lore’s! I just started working in Center City, and was tired of fighting the lines at Starbucks and Dunkin, for second-rate coffee. I was wandering around and found this little gem about a block from my office. La Colombe coffee for $ 1 if you bring your own reusable mug. Need I say more?

I walk to work, so my coffee stop is, out of necessity, very strategic… If I get coffee to early in the walk, then I have to carry the cup, along with my bags, and if it’s raining — an umbrella, AND keep a hand free to fiddle with my phone or iPod, all at the same time, which is nearly impossible. Lore’s is 2 blocks from the office, so the perfect location to duck in to pickup a quick latte and shuffle the iPod one last time, before I complete the walk to my desk. It helps that the staff is friendly and, at times, laugh out-loud funny(I would dearly love to have a day-in-the-life, these girls — and they’re all girls — have the best stories). AND they remember what I like. I don’t even have to say anything anymore. I walk in and snap… skim milk is being steamed for my latte. Lore’s brews La Colombe, the prices are very reasonable, and my drink is always excellent. I can get a medium skim latte and a croissant for $ 4.75…which is a steal in my book, and the croissants are rather lovely… I’m a bit particular about my croissants and these are quite tasty. This is strictly a walk-in, walk-out place. If you don’t mind being crammed between non-coffee beverages and the creamer you can sit at one of the two stools in the window, but it’s not ideal. If you really want to sit, I’d just walk down the block to Washington Square.

I stop in every time I’m in Philly. Baristas are friendly, coffee is excellent, a nd they have a good selection of tasty fresh baked goods. It’s much preferable to get my La Colombe fix from these friendly folks than at certain other places, where the baristas seem to be annoyed that you came in.

One of my favorite places to get coffee, conveniently located across the street from my work, the coffee tastes great, if only they offered vegan baked goods!

Simple, no frills coffee. I stopped by Lore’s Espresso after my unfortunate incident at the Bean Café( ). After that, anything would have seemed better in comparison. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly nature of the cashier. And though, there are literally maybe 6 choices to choose from, I’d take a friendly barista over a snobby but extensive café any day.
