I am on the left coast and never been to Philly. Only reason I bought from this place is their YouTube videos and Mike who runs the place, who’s courteous, responsive, reasonable, and honest. Some of the videos don’t really do the accordion justice but they do give the potential buyer a concrete idea of what they are buying online. Accordion is not cool where I am maybe except inside the mex community, So it’s not easy to find a decent full size accordion. Comparing price is easy these days and LibertyBellows is certainly reasonable online. Some say it’s a lot cheaper buying from private parties. Craiglist around here doesn’t seem to suggest that. Plus you have to drive to the seller without knowing the condition and sound of the instrument. I am wondering why so few others doing videos on their accordions online, especially eBay. From the background info I found about this shop, they seem to be smart, serious and dedicated bunch for the long haul, which is definitely a huge plus. I paid for a new Weltmeister Romance CBS but didn’t get it because of production issue for quite a few months, which is extremely irritating and disappointing. But Mike the owner agreed to worked a deal with me on a 50 year old second hand Philharmonic CBS instead. I felt iffy about it until I received the instrument. It sounds so much better than the new 96 bass Hohner CBS I have! Now I just ordered a 60 year old Paolo Soprani piano accordion from them because I really like the unique sound I heard on their demo. My limited experience tells me that accordion usually sounds better in reality than on recordings. Oh, one of the pin that holds the straps on the old Philharmonic broke and fell off few months after I got it from LibertyBellow. I bought a replacement from their store for about $ 30. And when I raised this to Mike, he immediately refunded the charge for the parts, which is really nice of him. Only thing I could think of is if they could have better demo videos with more consistent sound quality(some are very echoic while others are a lot better), and maybe including some multi-angle still photos of the instrument they are selling as well. Wish them all the best!

I’m am little more than a semi-serious accordion dabbler. My main instrument is upright bass but I couldn’t help picking up an old Weltmeister accordion at a pawn shop about a year ago. As I’ve progressed, it’s become more and more obvious that issues with the instruments may begin to hold me back, so when I mentioned to a friend in another band that I was going to be in Philly on business, he suggested I stop by Liberty Bellows just to check out what«good» accordions look and sound like. I carved out some time and man am I happy that I did. I can’t stress enough how horrible I am on accordion, but they were super friendly and not only gave me some great advise on possible course of action I could take on my ailing Welmeister, but they encouraged me to play a few of the instruments they had there. It shows a lot of professionalism to spend time with a guy who is just visiting and more importantly is as bad as I am. :) Not sure if I’ll ever have occasion to be back by there, but if I lived anywhere on that side of the country, man that would be my spot! Thank you for your time and hospitality!

I purchased an accordion online from this shop about a year ago. Before purchasing I emailed and asked if everything was in working order and if the accordion was in tune. I received a very defensive reply, but it said the accordion was in working order and was in tune. When I got it several tones were out of tune and a few of the bass buttons and piano keys didn’t work. I understand that I only payed $ 500 for an accordion, but I at least expect honesty from the store’s representative. Let’s examine what could have happened, they were up front and honest, I would have purchased a more expensive accordion in working order, and then they’d have left the transaction with more revenue and a positive Unilocal review.

Liberty Bellows is the best accordion and accordion repair shop anywhere! Their selection is amazing, which goes from decent low-end all the way up to the finest accordions around. They even let you rent one out for a percentage of the price, which could be useful for some people. The staff is nice and super knowledgable. Go check it out!
