Lamb and Rice Cart

Lamb and Rice is one of many carts in RIttenhouse. I am semi-​addicted to middle eastern food… as well as carts that are easy to pick stuff up from. Lamb and Rice is FABULOUS! I don’t hand out five star ratings … but this cart is so good! The lamb is so tender and he cooks it fresh right there with very generous portions. I will warn you, it does take time to cook it fresh… so I usually pay for it and then run to the bank real fast or Starbucks. The guy that owns it is really sweet, doesn’t speak much english but he is trying so hard to learn and is so pleasant… unlike a lot of other cart/​store owners I know. I honestly hope he does well… he has a quality product… good prices… and is so nice! It is so good… I will pick it up on my way to the hospital to surprise my boyfriend if he has had a bad day… or perhaps is made at me for something that obviously isn’t my fault :) I feel bad for him because people often get frustrated that it takes 5 minutes to cook fresh lamb… and will walk off without paying… which I actually LOVE when it happens when I’m there because I usually buy it … aka more food and I didn’t have to wait! He never gets mad, though you can see how sad it makes him when someone does that. I mean, he’s not skimpy on his portions… it’s always overloaded to the brim… which is common, at least for regulars. The lamb sandwich is pretty good too… he was out of rice one day… and talk about a massive stuffed gyro… if you have a big appetite, you won’t need to order more than one. Just make sure you get plenty of napkins :))
What to order: Anything … Lamb is obviously the best thing since that’s the name of the cart… and if you aren’t sure about trying lamb from a cart… just imagine tender chicken with better flavor than a steak (and thats saying a lot since I’m from KS where steak is top notch).
How to order it: I just tell him to make it with everything on it… I’m not a huge fan of onions and what not… but they are really good on his stuff.
Make sure you: Are prepared to wait 5 minutes… but it’s seriously the best food I’ve ever had made for me in 5 minutes… and won’t get cold right way if you want to go stop in a shop on walnut and come back.
