Been dining here for awhile. My last couple experience were horrible. Mac and cheese dry and bland. Cabbage salty and yams cleary straight out of a can! Charged extra for all white meat dry and tough! Don’t waste ur time go up the street to Jamaican D’s.

Okay, so I’ve tried this place on two different occasions and I’ve never been so disappointed in my life when it has come to food. I’m convinced they serve food that is days old. The noodles in my macaroni were soggy and water logged, and it barely had cheese. Just rule out any kind of meat! From the chicken to the fish and even the beef patty was so dried out. Smh just a bad experience and they don’t care. If you know good food there is absolutely no way youll like this place.

K & J Caribbean Diner is TERRIFIC! My family gets dinner here at least 3 times a month & usually more — it’s just that good! The portions are HUGE& everything tastes terrific. We’re big fans of the jerk chicken, rice & peas, & the cabbage, but everything is good. We also like the sorrel & other Caribbean sodas & drinks. While there is frequently a line, it moves very quickly because the service is very fast once you get to the front of the line.

Came here yesterday because Jamaican D’s line was wrapped around inside and I was craving Jamaican food. I ordered the jerk chicken and a chicken patty. The jerk chicken was good– also came with rice & beans, greens, and potato salad(needs A LOT of seasoning). The chicken patty wasn’t filled, it was mostly air. K&J wouldn’t be my first choice for Caribbean food, however I do see a lot of potential if they tweaked a couple things.

Undercooked curry chicken is a «Hell no!» in my book. I came here because it’s closest to me but I can travel the extra distance to Jamaican D’s.

Best Ital menu hands down. many caribbean restaurants do not offer one or have a very limited one. I typically just get a veg platter of rice and peas, cabbage, and plantain or Ital stew, or tofu w/veggies. There are a lot of options for a real Ital vegetatian such as myself. The food taste great comparing to other notable so called caribbean food stores. And there is a great line of home made roots man brew, fresh juices that are popular part of caribbean food like the sea weed drink, moss, peanut punch, carrot ginger, etc. And for my hubby they have good king fish, whole.

I had gone to this place at least twice before I finally admitted to myself that they could NOT cook! It’s just that they were 0.5 miles away and I could walk there, I didn’t want to face the truth. But jerk wings overpowered by soy sauce and bloody curry chicken– enough was enough. Plus, they don’t have any coco bread: p Lame. I gave them an extra star for the plantains, because they were good… when they had them, which was hardly ever.

K & J is okay, but with Geechee Girl and Jamaican D’s only 5 – 10 minutes away, i don’t know why you’d come here(when i’m in the mood for jamaican i do because it’s only 10 ft from my work and i don’t have to lose my parking spot to go there). Their portions *are* large, but to me, overpriced($ 3 for a side of white rice? seriously?). Their meat is cooked to perfection, always, and literally falls off the bone in moist and tender, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. In addition, it is barbecued all day long out behind the storefront under sheds(torturing me all day with the savory scent of smoking meat). I am not a huge fan of any of their sauces/rubs, but none of them are bad. just not great(or as good as x, you know?). The only thing you need to watch out for is that they also have a truck, and will sometimes serve you the sides that were in the truck all day and didn’t get sold. That really sucks if you don’t catch it, believe me. Stay clear of their mac and cheese(though why i’d expect banging mac and cheese from a jamaican restaurant is beyond me). Special note to fish eaters– they have several great specialties, all of which are only cooked to order –call about 20 minutes ahead or else be prepared to wait. There is a MAC machine inside, and a few tables with chairs, but despite being called a diner, it’s much more similar to a chinese food storefront down the way. The next time I’m there, i’ll take a picture of the inside, but I always feel creepy doing that… So, fast and convenient with large portions, K & J will do you in a pinch, but there is certainly better, and nearby at that…

Good reasonable Jamacian food. Mostly take out but there are a few tables inside and a small area outside. I usually order large jerk chicken with cabbage and mac and cheese. Large portions that last me for 3 meals. Large is $ 10.50. Cabbage is fantastic with a little cinnamon. I order mild sauce, the hot burns my mouth too much. They also have an assortment of carribean juices and sodas.
