So hunger burger opened up in the reading terminal market awhile ago but I never ventured to go there because of the bevy of other options. I went about a week ago and I have to admit the burger was pretty good and so were the fries. The reason for the 3 stars is that it is expensive. I got a burger a regular fries, a regular drink and a sauce(which I didnt know cost money) and it came out to be about $ 16! I was shocked but since I was with people I figured Id just go with it. The burger was good and tasty but for the price it was only subpar. Coming from California where I can get IN and Out meal for less than half the price it is a shame this place charges so much and their burgers are not even as good. Its a good burger at an unfortunate price. One thing I do like is that they donate to children in need. Its a good mission which may account for their high prices. There is just too many options in the market to settle for this burger. Pros Burger is Okay They Donate to Children Neg Price Small Drinks

I came here because: 1) the line was shorter for this place 2) the amount of Mac and cheese is noticeable and looked tasty 3) reading terminal market is overwhelming and when I can’t decide what type of food I am feeling, I resort to what I know. I got the lobster Mac and cheese and it was just meh. There are two different serving size you can buy — the smaller cup cost me $ 10 something? A little pricey for what it is worth. I’ve had better and I’ve had worst Mac and cheese. Overall, I thought the cheese was too funny and there wasn’t enough Flavor. I wish there was more lobster bits and a lobster flavor. This just didn’t come together for me. My sister got the regular Mac and cheese and it pretty much sucked. The noodles were way over cooked and there just wasn’t any flavor in this one. It seems like their food isn’t consistent. And for some reason, there wasn’t a line when I went to order, but it took me 15 minutes to get my Mac and cheese! Not sure if they had to-go orders or something but it took quite long. Especially since they had some employees just standing around doing nothing as I waited for my order.

Super legit burger place right in Reading Terminal. I have been meaning to try Hunger Burger for a while and finally got a chance to the other day. Rolled in and order their double Philbert burger which is their bacon cheeseburger, also ordered some fries and a side of mac and cheese. The burger was awesome and it compares very well to Shake Shack, the fries are equally legit, and the mac and cheese was pretty awesome. Next time I will be getting a side of lobster mac and cheese. I know that everyone likes that they donate meals to the homeless and I also think that it’s pretty cool they do that but it helps that they can actually make a legit burger. Will be back, soon.

not so much worth the money for such a tiny patty and sandwich. it was good but the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers at Wendy’s have been just as good. service was fast and their menu is pretty extensive, just not worth the price in my opinion. I could have gotten Shrimp and broccoli from the Chinese spot around the bin and added $ 1 more for a drink then to just pay over $ 7 for just a burger. only 5 guys is worth that price.

Returned to try their lobster mac ‘n cheese and it was ok. Not the best mac ‘n cheese that I’ve had and I’ve eaten better seafood salads too. Wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again.

I’ve recently visited this place and saw the whole process of cooking the burger. Although they use gloves to touch food, they also wash up and move trash cans in the same gloves. Left without my burger.

Hunger Burger’s mission is simple – to make the world a better place, one burger at a time. With every purchase, someone in need has the opportunity to eat a good meal. They use only the best in high-quality ingredients and serve every customer with a smile. While shopping at Reading Terminal, I noticed that Hunger Burger was a new addition since my last visit, so I decided to eat there for lunch. I got the FunGuy Burger(mushroom and cheddar with their homemade special sauce) and a fountain lemonade and I absolutely LOVED it! Thanks, Hunger Burger, for breaking my habit of eating Chinese food on my every visit to Reading Terminal and giving me a new favorite!

I went there with my mother and the young lady who is either the manger or owner has thee worst attitude and no patience for people. reading terminal is a place with a thousand different stores and lots of tourists so you need time a lot of time to To choose and explore the restaurant. I say she rushes you and don’t say thank you after you spend $ 15 on a sandwich and side .so atleast show some appreciation.

All I need to say is… Lobster Mac & Cheese. Creamy, dreamy, cheesy, savory goodness with generous amounts of lobster. Seasoned just right and baked to light golden. Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, it’s worth it and Yes, I’m going back on Saturday with my guy to get more.

Burgers and fries are not bad but nothing to rave about. The atmosphere of the market hall itself is exciting but this place was comparable to any other burger place I’ve been to. I came with two other friends who also expressed the same opinion. My friend ordered a regular cheeseburger with fries. After gulping it down in three bites, he went off to find himself a bottle of root beer. I ordered the vegetarian burger and for other vegheads out there, I“d recommend saving yourself some calories and ordering a salad instead. Might even taste better than the burger.

Hunger burger donates a portion of the proceeds of each burger sold to non-profit organizations working to end hunger. A noble mission that I would really like to support. But a mediocre burger in a city with plenty of great burgers is something I can’t support. After I ordered my burger I watched how they were being cooked. The cook puts the burgers on the grill and then smashes them! Squeezing out what little juice was in the patty. And since very little juice came out, they must be using lean beef. So you end up being served a thin well cooked burger with very little juice. The only good thing is that it’s fresh beef. They have such a great location and a great mission. What a shame they don’t know how to make a great burger.

The first time I came to visit Philadelphia, I went to the Reading Terminal and this was the first place I ate. Probably because I wanted to keep it safe with a burger the first time, since there were so many different options that I got a little overwhelmed. I was starving by the time I arrived(due to touring all around Philadelphia by foot), so by this time«my eyes were bigger than my stomach» and I ended up ordering a single YO! LKBURGER, a side regular FRENCHFRIES, and a regular hot side of MAC N’ CHEESE. The YO! LKBURGER(beef burger, American cheese, fried egg, onion ring, and chipotle ketchup) was amazing, a little greasy, but amazing. Probably because it had the gooey yolk running down everywhere adding the savory yolk flavor in every bite. My only complaint was there bun was a bit smushed rather than properly fluffed out as if they came stuffed in a bag. The onion ring was a little too greasy and kept sliding out whenever I took a bite of the burger. There was nothing too special about the FRENCHFRIES. They were shaped and fried perfectly. The MAC N’ CHEESE was amazing(anything with a crapload of cheese is amazing). They didn’t use American cheddar, but a different type of cheese that had a more delicate cheese flavor that landed well on the tastebuds. In the end, the only thing I was able to finish was the YO! LKBURGER. Like I said, my «eyes were bigger than my stomach.» It wasn’t crowded when I came and the ordering process was efficient and fast. The food took a bit of time to get out but not too long.

I was drawn in by the modern design, and then by the fancy looking menu. Bello Burger sounded good, but it was a pretty small and sad burger for $ 8. «Veggie burger-stuffed portobello mushroom & Gruyère cheese sauce» It was wrapped like a whopper, probably would be a better presentation if it wasn’t wrapped that way. Since it’s still fast food, a box maybe? It wouldn’t be as flat and disappointing. The flavor was somewhat there – but overall I’d rather eat at one of the other restaurants in the terminal. The workers were nice and friendly.

Nothing like 5 Guys or Shake Shack; a damn good burger. Other reviewer’s reviews are crap; seriously. This place is clean(you watch them clean the grill after each burger), the portions are plentiful, and the staff is trendy/cool and nice. I had a great meal here and you can taste how fresh and clean it was. I recommend the sweet potato fries and pineapple chutney dipping sauce.

The burger is pretty good but not great. It would remind you of a burger from 5 Guys or Shake Shack. The lobster mac n cheese was really disappointing though. I mean it had lobster which is good but the mac n cheese itself is pretty embarassing. It was like a soup where the noodles were just swimming in a pond of cheese and not in a good way. I actually don’t even know how they got the cheese to be that liquified. Honestly I’m impressed with how bad they were able to get the mac n cheese. Like it’s mac n fucking cheese… how do you fuck it up? And how do you fuck it up so badly? Now I got pretty drunk pretty often back in college when I lived off kraft mac n cheese and ramen noodles but not even at my drunkest was I able to screw up the mac n cheese as badly as this mac n cheese was screwed up. But like I said the burger was aight.

I frequent Reading Terminal often, so I would see the long lines at Hunger Burger and I hadn’t had the opportunity to get a bite until the other day. Philly has many burger joints and I have tried most, so I fashion myself the official burger taster — so I couldn’t wait to check this place out. I was glad I did, for some reason — the line wasn’t crazy long and I went for it! I ordered the«Basic Hunger Burger and side of fries — because we know the burger will be judged by the fries too… Pros: I was ready to write off Hunger Burger but I didn’t get the chance — it was juicy, flavorful and filling. I loved the side sauce and pickle too. They also feed the needy with a portion of the profits. Con: Of course, it’s reading terminal — so it was a little pricey — most good food here it a lil costly — can’t add that to the weekly budget, but it will be a nice treat every so often. Remember — it helps to feed the needy.

My wife & I were looking for a quick bite in Reading Terminal Market, and we noticed the Hunger Burger had a line, so it must be good, right? While I grabbed a couple of chairs the wife ordered me a turkey burger and herself a chicken burger with Feta & Spinach. After our order arrived I noticed that there was cheese on the burger, so I took it back to the counter person, who asked for the receipt and said«no, you ordered with cheese». I replied that it was a mistake because my wife knows never to order anything for me with cheese. I understand that to order any meat sandwich without cheese in Philly is heresy, so I could easily forgive such a mistake. However, rather than apologize, the counter person gave me the evil eye and grunted, although she did make a new burger. But I was made to feel guilty about it. Therefore, a 1-star for attitude. As for the food, my revised burger was adequate, but nothing special– more like a MacDonald’s: squished roll, flat slab of meat. My «spicy fries» were cold and limp, although plentiful. My wife complained that her Feta/Spinach Chicken burger had neither feta nor spinach; when she asked the counter person about that she was told that it’s all ground-in when it’s being cooked(is that a Philly thing?!). Anyway, it’s not what my wife expected. The only thing that came out just right was our bottled water, which was cold!

Decent burgers for a good price and a good cause. We tried this place yesterday after following the hype leading up to their opening. My husband and I each had the basic Hunger Burger(beef patty, american cheese, lettuce, tomato and«HB Sauce»), and shared fries and onion rings. The burgers are my preferred«fast food» size, served on a nice soft bun and were cooked pretty perfectly with just a hint of red in the middle. Loved the HB sauce which looked to be fancy sauce aka mayo and ketchup mixed together. Loved the onion rings and my only issue would be that the fries could’ve been seasoned more. This burger will not replace my favorite in the city but is definitely tasty and Hunger Burger is a great addition to the RTM variety of food stalls.

You’d think that Philadelphia is over-populated with burgers, yet another Burger joint keep opening every day! This one is like no other though, with a portion of each sale will be donated to feed children in need around the world.(their mission is Buy One, Feed One.) I went and checked it out this morning and had the breakfast slider– fried egg and American cheese on a potato slider. Was tasty and would love to go and try the Burger soon. Three and half Unilocal
