Very attractive space nobody manning the bar area for large periods of time, took a while to notify someone that I had a takeout order decent sized sushi rolls for $ 11 lunch special ================= Unfortunately before I could finish my review they closed!

Place is totally shut down for business. Phone number is disconnected. Sign on door stated that New store to open soon. Went there with a Living Social Voucher on hand. They should have deleted their account with Living Social so as not to mislead the potential customers like me.

First, the positives… 1. Ordering online was easy. 2. Delivery was super fast 3. The seaweed salad was amazing. 4. The ginger is it’s natural color. The negatives… The rolls were terrible. I ordered the raw spicy salmon roll and the sexy girl roll. The spicy salmon was mushy and contained way too much mayo. The sexy girl, like the spicy salmon was mushy and the tuna topping wasn’t fresh. Because I ordered right before closing, I wasn’t able to walk to the restaurant, return it and ask for a refund. Needless to stay, the uneaten sushi(most of it) was trashed.

My daughter decided we should eat sushi, and this place was nearby to our location. The sushi is mediocre and the staff is friendly. Based on the location and price I would come back again. Also, the ambience is outstanding.

Had a gift certificates to this place. The Decore was very excellent and the service was really good as well. The sushi was good, but apparently the race was not the best sushi rice that my husband ever had. The food I noodles were very tasty, but the shrimp seemed a little bit disappointing. Overall, very good experience and very nice restaurant. We will be back! Oh, and I almost forgot the agedashi tofu was probably the best we’ve had any of the Japanese restaurants that we have been too. I really like how they serve the tofu separate from the sauce, so you could add everything together I your table and not have a mess of Soggy tofu. :-)

A good friend of mine, Col. Ronnie had a birthday party here and I was lucky enough to be invited. Hokkaido is a very nicely decorated, clean space in the gayborhood. The owners are very friendly and the service is good. The bartenders give a generous pour and the drink prices are reasonable. The party was lots of fun and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. Everything I tried I liked, so there is no reason to be specific. All of the delicious salads and appetizers and soup led up to «The star of the show»! Larry the manager wheeled in a four foot long, authentic replica of a Japanese sailboat stocked to the gills with every type of sushi imaginable! Everyone applauded and dove in! I never got an opportunity to take a photo because the feeding frenzy was over in minutes. And that’s a shame because the sushi and the condiments were so colorful, and the whole thing was highlighted with fresh tropical orchids. A good time was had by all and I can’t wait to have a quiet dinner there with someone special.

Another great sushi place I’ve come to discover in the city. And they’re not even that expensive at all for the atmosphere. $ 3 – 5 rolls & drinks specials during happy hour(5 – 7), as well. They don’t skimp on the alcohol either in their cocktails. My dinner last night with my fiancé started with a salad and gyoza to share. I got myself fried calamari as an appetizer. Excellent and cooked perfectly. The chili sauce that came with it complimented it perfectly. For our entrees, he got both the Philly & salmon rolls and I ordered the Ocean Brother. All extremely fresh and delicious. Our meal ended with a half of an orange. The bill came to about $ 57+tip. Definitely look forward to returning.

Delicious Thai for meat and veggie lovers alike! The staff is very polite and helpful although sometimes the language thing is an issue. Like when my boyfriend ordered chicken and she repeated the order but evidently said shrimp. We had to send the food back and it felt awkward. Bottom line: good Thai and kind staff!

Stopped in for a work lunch with a friend. The restaurant is clean and nice. The food was good, when we finally got it. It seems like the one waitress working the lunch crowd was overwhelmed. My sushi was good, but my friend ordered the tempura bento box, but got the teriyaki bento box instead. He decided not to send it back because by this time we had waited 40 minutes for our lunches. He did says it was done well and enjoyed it. I might try it again, but with plenty of other sushi place available, probably not.

I stopped in mid-week for a lunch break. Overall this is a very nice, modern themed Sushi place. Décor is a lot of dark wood, snazzy lighting, very open feel. The service was prompt, pleasant and friendly. The menu had some good rolls, a decent amount of veggie options and the lunch specials were affordable($ 8 for 2 rolls with soup/salad, $ 11 for 3 rolls). Major disclaimer is that I am a wuss with sushi– I do cooked stuff and veggies. I have been in sushi restaurants before where a veggie roll includes iceberg lettuce so this is my yardstick. I cannot speak to the quality of the raw fish, obviously. In any case, the rolls were tasty and the ingredients(avocado, shrimp, etc) were fresh. Overall I enjoyed my experience. Would I come in to Philly or seek this place out especially? No, I was not that impressed. I would go back for a «passing thru center city, got a hankering for sushi and I don’t want to walk all the way to Chinatown» meal.

Came here with a friend for lunch. It was surprisingly empty and we were seated very quickly. They have a lunch special — 2 rolls for 8 $, and it comes with salad or miso soup. So we both had that — I had the spicy salmon and another roll(can’t remember name), but it had yellow tail, white tuna and apple. Both were fresh and delicious. I’ll come back for sure, especially to try the rest of their lunch specials.

I stopped in on a friday night for some sushi. I loved the décor here it had a very fun, modern, & sophisticated vibe. I love the lighting & the leather chairs. The ambiance is very lounge like. It also was surprisingly nice and quiet. They have a nice large menu with a great selection of sushi & thai food. I ordered the Raw Spicy Tuna Roll & The Volcano Roll. They both were delicious. I wish the spicy tuna rolls were a little bigger though. They were small. However, the ginger is not dyed pink. Since, I work in this area I am sure I will stop in & order take-out for lunch. They also have lunch specials 3 rolls for $ 11. The restrooms here are right by the kitchen, I can see this turning into a potential problem in the future. Especially if waiters/waitresses are in & out of the kitchen & there is a line of people just waiting to use the restroom. I hope this doesn’t happen. The bathrooms are also spotless. Very Clean :) This sushi place is just what Center City needed. Its definetly a fresh new look instead, of what we are all used to seeing in this area. The prices are just right & until the end of June you get 15% off your bill. That alone, should make it worth while to come visit.

Let me preface this review by saying that I’m hoping to return and give this buisness more stars. I ordered off grubhub and came to the restaurant to pick up my order(2 roll lunch special– california roll and out of control roll with a salad). The bartender who rang me up stated that they were running a 15% off special but that he could not give it to me because I ordered online(even though I was paying cash and nothing was rung up yet… weird and disappointing). My advice to you all– call in your order or walk in and get the discount instead of using grub hub. The california roll was very, very good. Big pieces of avocado. The pickled ginger is not dyed pink, which is a huge plus. The out of control roll was the most disappointing part of my meal(besides not honoring the 15% off discount). It it advertized as a RAW«spicy yellowtail, white tuna, and crunchy apple». It tastes like a fried mayonaise-y mess. There are flecks of tempura in there and it tasted like fried teryaki. I dont like cooked rolls, and especially since this roll was adversized as RAW, it was a complete let down. I threw out 7 of the 8 pieces.

I live right by Hokkaido so I was totally excited to see a sushi/thai place open near my house! I always want Pad Thai and one sushi roll so this place is perfect for that! I was skeptical at first about how good the sushi would be, but I am definitely a fan and have loved everything I have ordered so far! The prices are really reasonable and recently they have been doing a 15% off deal so everything is super cheap! Also, last time I was in there picking up an order(two days ago) everyone sitting at the bar had these awesome looking drinks so I plan on trying whatever that was next time I dine in at the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to friends in the city and I will be ordering from here a lot! Actually, I think I will order from here tonight :)

first time coming here today since it opened~ first impression: LOVE the décor~ the leather chairs did the trick for me they have a wide selection of sushi on the menu(but let’s be honest, if they don’t they wouldn’t be able to survive in the city)~ price wise is average. they also offer lunch specials which is exactly what we were aiming for. i ordered shrimp pad thai since i wasn’t feeling sushi today. lunch menu– it’s a dollar off the regular priced menu~ in addition, there’s a 15% off with the grand opening discount. taste wise~ it was fair. it’s served with like 5 shrimps. my go-to favorite is the one at penang. so with that in mind, to me it tasted like any other pad thai but it’s no penang’s. but for the price, it turned out to be a pretty sweet deal. no complains there. the only thing i have to comment on is the service. it took almost 15 mins to get our check… thankfully, we weren’t in a hurry(food came out pretty quickly and left us some extra time to spare). the peaceful ambiance was the break i needed from my hellish day in the office. so we will probably return again and try the sushi next time.

I stopped in for their almost too good to believe 50% off special this past friday. I don’t think they were nearly prepared enough for the amount of business they got, since I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come to the host stand when I walked in. After I decided to just seat myself at the bar, I watched everyone else go through the same thing. When people asked the bartender where the hostess was, she said she didn’t know… They have a pretty large menu with a good selection of special rolls and even some thai options. We opted for sushi but my neighbor’s drunken noodles looked awesome and I made a mental note to try them for delivery. We went for edamame(which took 30 min to come out) and 4 special rolls. The rolls weren’t as big as I’ve seen elsewhere but they tasted fresh and I liked th combinations they used. The prices were also pretty fair with most being $ 12-$ 14. They have a full bar but their wine selection is pretty blah(barefoot, cavit). It’s only $ 6 a glass, but it kills me knowing I could buy a bottle of that for the same price! The décor is interesting with a mix of neon lights, wood, and random bottle shaped wall sconces and gold curtains. They are still brand new, so I think they just need to work out some kinks. They’re offering 15% off for the month of June, so I’ll definitely be giving delivery a try!

We checked out this new Japanese restaurant on Saturday. At first I was hesitant because its Thai and Japanese. I was very happy with the sushi here. We all thought the rolls were much bigger portions than other Japanese restaurants. I had the Chirashi which was 14 pieces of sashmi for $ 18. Nothing was extraordinary but this is definitely worth a visit for regular rolls.

Yum. I got delivery for lunch today. It took about an hour. The delivery guy was very friendly. Upon opening the bag, I saw they gave me a little ramekin for me to put my soy sauce in, and they included low sodium soy sauce. The Out of Control Roll was pretty awesome, I would definitely order it again. I’ve learned not to have high expectations when ordering from an inexpensive sushi restaurant for the first time, but Hokkaido pleasantly surprised me.

I ordered delivery from here last night. I ordered the Thai spring rolls and wings, two shrimp tempura rolls and spicy tuna rolls. The presentation was immaculate. The way they put the food in the bag was superb. The food however, was ok. The Thai spring rolls were small, which was fine, but they have sparse filling. The accompanied sauce was supposed to be sweet and spicy but lacked any sweetness. The Thai wings actually looked kind of gross. They wings looked three times larger than any chicken wing I have ever seen. I was too creeped out to try them but it didn’t matter because half of them were soggy from sitting on a bed of cabbage. Now onto the entrée, the shrimp tempura was actually warm. On the menu it says cooked shrimp tempura, which I thought to mean that it just featured fried shrimp but the actual roll was warmer than expected. The spicy tuna roll had no spicy kick. Overall, it was pretty forgettable. I really want to like this place especially considering how wonderful their service is so ill be sure to try it again. But off of this experience alone, I don’t have my hopes up.
