Came here twice. My first 2 Han Dynasty experiences. Just not that good. Really fairly average Chinese food. Nothing exciting to say. Wouldn’t return.

Not sure why there’s a Han Dynasty in Manayunk, but I wasn’t complaining when I lived there. I definitely appreciate having a Han Dynasty close by and not having to drive to University City for it every time. Because it’s on Main Street, it’s an ideal choice for dinner if you’re out for a night on the town. You can get all your Han Dynasty favorites at this location such as the twice cooked pork and dandan noodles. If it’s your first time at a Han Dynasty, then definitely try those two. The UC location might have the edge over this location on looks and atmosphere, but that’s forgivable imo because the food is still really good. 4.5 stars while the UCHD gets a solid 5 stars, but I’ll round up here anyway.

Like all Han dynastys in the city, this one does not disappoint. The ambience is not quite as fancy as the other HD restaurants in Philly, but the food is just as delicious. I highly recommend the Dan Dan noodles, but they aren’t nearly as spicy as indicated on the menu. They have interesting things on the menu that makes it more than just a typical Chinese restaurant

The food at Han Dynasty is authentic chinese food. You will not find americanized asian dishes here. The prices are reasonable and the ambiance perfect for a nice date night. About $ 50 dinner for two. The way the menu is set up as different than most chinese restaurants. They have chicken, beef, pork or shrimp and can cook them about 12 different ways with different«heat» levels that can be lowered or highered on a scale of 1 – 10. We ordered our entrée at a level 3 and it definitely had some kick to it! Also a MUSTHAVE is the wonton soup. It’s enough to share for 2 and is the best I have ever had. I order this every time I come. Love this place!

This review is concerning only to the Main Street Han Dynasty. We are a huge fan of Han Dynasty and make a point to eat here whenever we visit Philly. They have a decent menu with multiple meat options, the food was definitely good as always but I am more pissed off at the service. The waiter is not at all friendly and never acknowledges our requests not even with a nod. The only response he gives is a yes or no. When requested for straws for our water he responded by saying«All requests at once». After enduring the process of ordering food the food came out. The portions were so small and we had to order 2 entrees each to fill our stomachs. For the price they are charging the portions are unacceptable and well funny(we tried different Han dynasties and they serve way bigger portions. I would definitely eat at Han when I visit Phlilly but not at the same location.

I will never visit the Manayunk location again. The manager was extremely rude when he tried to sit us right next to the door. I asked for a seat«not directly in front of the door» and he literally muttered«UGH!» and rolled his eyes. After simply wiping off a table(because that was SO difficult), he sat us in front of the window. The place was not busy, as it was 4PM on a Saturday; there were maybe 4 – 5 tables occupied. Within a minute later, this manager came over and sarcastically asked if we were ready to order. We hadn’t received our tea or water yet, or even looked at a menu. After debating whether or not to stay, we finally ordered. The food was not spicy at all! I typically visit the Old City location and should’ve known better than to stray from there. Never again, Manayunk!

This place still serves good food but the service here definitely needs some work. Every single time I get take out, they won’t give me any utensils unless I ask. When I do ask for them, they hand it to me without putting in a bag. Am I suppose to just carry a fork while I drive home to eat?

I used to love this place. Went here a couple of days ago with a couple of friends, ordered Dan Dan noodles, dry pepper chicken and long hot pepper beef. The Dan Dan noodles was great, the other dishes were OK. The problem was the portion sizes, they were just abysmally small. I go to other han locations and they all serve good portions unlike this main street branch. The service is also nothing to write home about. I will still give it three stars, just because I like the food at han. They definitely need to look into their portion sizes.

The Manayunk location is not good compared to the other locations. I have gone to the Philadelphia and Royersford locations frequently for the dan Dan noodles, dumplings in chili oil, and sesame noodles. I would always try other items too but my favs were consistently good until I went to the manayunk location on 12÷26÷15. Very little spice and Lots of GARLIC on everything — so strong the über drive had to open the windows on the way home– caused for a disappointing night. The food all had the same garlic sauce and tasted nothing like it does in the other locations. The soup was decent and the service was fast so I’ll give it a 2 star. 4/5stars at the other locations– just not here.

I love Han Dynasty– so much that I went to its East Village location a few times when I was in NYC. This location is not up to par with the EV or Old City locations I’ve been to. I was here with a big group and we ordered more than half of the dish styles, along with the Three Cup Chicken, Eggplant w/Garlic and Dan Dan noodles. The dishes… were close, but not the same. The fried fish(dry pepper style) was a little more soggy, the Dan Dan noodles had less of a sesame flavor, the Three Cup Chicken was more sweet than usual… just, something was not quite right for all the dishes. I don’t know– I love Han Dynasty, just not this location.

BYOB and delightful atmosphere. My girlfriend and I shared an entrée and app, and both were delicious. The chili wontons and garlic chicken are definitely recommended. I will definitely be retiring to this restaurant excited to try something bring new. Two thumbs up and an A+!!!

The best Han Dynasty in the Philadelphia area in my opinion. This is a spice lovers dream and real Chinese food not take out garbage. I have been to this location multiple times and it never disappoints. The one night that stood out to me was when I came here with about 12 others and we had a large circular table perfect for sharing all the family style food. The spice levels are indicated by number so ask your server before you order if you are confused by anything. Also, this location is BYOB so head to Pitchers down the block or any of the local bars, fill up a growler and bring it to dinner. The best dishes I had were the Dan Dan noodles, a must for everyone and personally loved the rabbit.

We went on a Saturday and got seated right away. Service was friendly and knowledgable and Jasmine tea is served as soon as you sit. We started with the wontons which were definitely good but not something that would specifically bring me back to the restaurant. Unfortunately the rest of the meal went the same way. Pretty good but not wowed. My biggest disappointment was the 3 cup chicken which I had recommended to my boyfriend. I’d ordered it many times before in the main line location and it was always delicious. Here the flavor was ok but the consistency of the chicken was mushy and kind of gross. I’ll definitely give this place another shot, but I’m a bit disappointed.

FORLUNCHONLY! Generally Han Dynasty is known for having the best Chinese food of the area. With that being said, I have only had good eating experiences during their lunch hours. Food comes out in a reasonable amount of time, the servers are attentive, and the portions are adequate. I’d recommend the Crispy Cucumbers, Pork Belly, and Dry Pepper Chicken. Each dish is succulent, and priced under 10 dollars. On the other hand, every time I’ve gone to this location for dinner the experience has been lackluster. The service is abhorrently slow, servers are confused with the operation of the restaurant, and the food is lacking flavor. A bonus is that this location is BYOB, so i’d recommend bringing drinks, especially if you come for dinner.

My girlfriend and I just walked out of this restaurant after we got our food and dealt with a sarcastic and rude server. We’ve been coming here since they opened and used to love Han Dynasty. But the last few times we’ve been here it wasn’t so great. The same dishes we always order was changing over time. Not as fresh, skimp out on certain ingredients and just doesn’t taste the same as before. Not sure if they changed recipe or the cook but definitely not the same Han Dynasty we used to love. Today, we gave it another chance because we’ve been loyal to this location. We ordered the Beef Dry Hot Pot which we have ordered several times in the past. The temperature of the dish was luke warm, there was way too much oil/liquid for a Dry Hot Pot(almost like regular soupy hot pot), and it didn’t taste good at all. I asked the server why it was not temperature hot and had so much liquid for a dry hot pot and he sarcastically said«you ordered a liquidy dish and its not hot because that’s what the flame is for». Not sure if this guy even know what a dry hot pot is. It suppose to be mostly DRY not liquidy! And the dish is suppose to come out temperature hot. The flame is not to cook the damn food. It’s to keep it hot. There was no apology, no asking if we wanted something else. Just a BS remark from someone that doesn’t know Sichuan food. Since no one seemed to want to help we just got up and left after taking one bite. I’ve never done that in my life but this was just complete bad service with disgusting food. And the crazy thing about this is some manager type guy came out after us and asked if we were going to pay. For something we didn’t eat? Go $@(:$:@ yourself! If you want authentic and great quality Sichuan food check out Jane G in center city. They do a much better job.

Had a great dinner here Friday night. Know that it is BYOB! I had been to the old city one and was ready to order one of those fishbowls full of goodies they have in old city, but didn’t do my research. Whoops. Everything was delicious though. Be prepared for all your plates to be drenched in oil but its not the type to make you feel greasy after you leave. They have some very well developed sauces/oils for each dish and each had a unique delicious aroma. There are plenty of fresh herbs and rice to cut the oil factor down. As most suggested we started with some dan dan noodles that were delicious, as well as the chili oil dumplings. Both were generous portions and well worth it. For entrees we got the garlic sauce style beef and the three cup chicken. The garlic beef was wonderful, but I wouldn’t recommend the 3 cup chicken. It wasn’t as much a winner as the other star sauces they develop and was overpowered by basil. There plenty of other sauce styles I will be back for though. Servers were a little awkward but were very nice overall. They were attentive and everything came out in a well-timed manner. Our teapot was pretty cold and tap water extra tappy with no ice and being lukewarm. Guess they don’t like extreme temperatures for their drinks. Oh well. Next time were in the mood for some great chinese food, we will definitely be back bottle in hand.

I really, really wanted to like this Han Dynasty location. With its proximity both to home and to a nearby delicious cookie bar, it’s the perfect combination for the ultimate cheat day! I tried just the Dan Dan noodles here, and also ordered the garlic style chicken for my husband. Anyone who absolutely loves Dan Dan noodles, and is familiar with the merging of flavors from the chili oil, to the sesame paste, to the soy sauce, to the garlic and ground pork bits(I could go on, but I’m making myself hungry) knows that the heat level can get pretty intense! But the noodles I had, even after feverishly mixing them together to fully coat them in the sauce, were a dud. I could’ve fed them to a toddler with no worries. When I’m looking for my dish to make me sweat it out like I’m in a sauna, I’ll probably have to head over to U City.

Best Chinese food I have ever had. Came here for lunch with my other half after an exhausting half day of moving into the neighborhood. Was greeted cheerfully and enthusiastically by our waiter who was so excited for us when he found out it was our first time at Han Dynasty that he started raving about the authenticity of the food here and the way in which it gets prepared. These days, it is so refreshing and rare to hear wait staff truly and really love the food they serve. What a fantastic guy. He definitely made our experience even better. We took his advice and ordered the Dan Dan noodles to start. Holy crap, these were SO Good. Words could never do them justice– just get them! For lunch, we ended up ordering the hot sauce style chicken(stir fried with cabbage, garlic, and celery in an authentic Sichuan chili oil hot sauce; spice factor 7⁄10) and the garlic sauce style chicken(Sweet, sour, and spicy-stir fried with ginger, garlic, bamboo, wood ear mushrooms, and bell peppers; we asked for the spice factor to be raised to a 5⁄10). The hot sauce style entrée was good but I found the sauce consistency to be much too thin for my liking and the sauce to sort of hit one flat note-SPICY– likely because of its Sichuan chili oil base. Nonetheless, still great flavor and true to its name/description. The garlic sauce stir fry really stole the show. Extremely well-balanced in flavors. We loved how the sauce adhered to the chicken and veggies. SOGOOD. Side note: The dishes are served family style so share so you get a varied and eclectic host of flavors! Truly unlike any other Chinese food experience I have ever had. I cannot wait to bring my friends from out of town here. Plus, they are byob! Come here!

This is my 3rd Han Dynasty experience, but first in Manayunk so I was very excited. It’s BYOB! And they don’t take reservations for parties less than 5, two changes I noticed from their Philadelphia location. No reservations wasn’t a problem as our party of 4 was immediately seated around 615 on a Wednesday. I couldn’t help but notice that the décor here compared to the Philadelphia location was… dismal. Reminiscent of your local take out chinese place? Certainly caught me by surprise since I knew Han Dynasty is much more than that, and I have to say I was nervous, hoping it wouldn’t impact the food! Well it certainly didn’t, the food was amazing as usual! We got the Dan Dan noodles at a 3, the cold sesame noodles(I could eat these all day! Craving them again as we speak), and the dumplings in chili oil to start. For dinner we got 3 variations of the garlic sauce style: pork, chicken, and shrimp at varying heat levels, and also the kung pao chicken. All were delicious, though the Kung pao chicken was pretty fatty. We also shared the veggie fried rice which was good but I wouldn’t order it again because there are so many other unique dishes here that the fried rice tastes pretty plain in comparison. Once again I stress to be cautious about the spice levels, 3 – 4 can get pretty hot and I’m a sriracha and hot wing lover so I’m pretty tough when it comes to spice. Just be careful because one dish that’s too spicy can ruin the meal for you, I’ve experienced it! We got nothing over 4 and really enjoyed everything. Now if they could just renovate this place so it looked like the one I’m philly, wow. That would be glorious! Much more high end.
