A friend and I purchased the amazon local deal and we are so glad we did. There was some shuffling with the scheduling, which was really not an issue, things happen. We finally got to get into the studio last night. The review written below by Josh S. and his wife is really on-point. I agree with everything listed but I’ll try to not be a copycat. We had a great night with a class of about 6 people. Greg was patient, friendly, encouraging and motivating. You can tell how much he enjoys teaching. He’s a great people person and we had a really fun group. One of the older people in the class dropped hers after cutting everything and was really upset. Greg helped her get back on track and gave her all new glass to start with. That was surely out of his own pocket but he wasn’t having anyone leave upset! I love the star I made and my friend loved what she made as well. I would consider going back just to be able to do it all again, maybe making something for someone as a gift next time instead of for myself. I do wish that I had known that using clear glass meant the gold foil would show on the edges; I would’ve chosen a different color. That said, I can use it to show people how I did it. :) If you’re on the fence, just do it. It was so fun!

My wife and I recently did the 3.5 hour stained glass workshop with Greg Stefan. I can say without any doubt that I will definitely be back here to do more stained glass work. The studio is in a pretty sketchy area, but Greg’s shop is tucked away with plenty of parking right out front. The shop itself is clean and organized. I could tell right away that Greg was a really down to earth and nice guy. My sisters and their husbands were running late and he told me to text them and let them know it is not an issue and not to rush; he was very genuine about it too. The first thing we did was pick out which template we wanted to use for our suncatcher. There were about 15 choices all somewhat basic, but perfect for a beginner. Greg sat us down and gave us a very quick summary of stained glass; he didn’t inundate us but he still gave us great information. We first learned how to score the glass and break it, we then learned how to use a grinding wheel to smooth out the edges, then he showed us how to sodder the pieces together. This really was a great experience and I cannot wait to take other people to Greg to learn more about stained glass. Greg was really accomodating the entire time. It started with some folks in my group being late and him not getting annoyed. During the class my brother in law wanted to change his template slightly and Greg was open to that and helped him with it. At one point he even let us choose a different color glass then was being offered, the glass he let us choose looked a little more intricate and I’m sure it was more expensive then just the plain glass he normally uses. He even offered us free bottles of water and wasn’t rushing us out of his studio even though we were there very late. Thanks again Greg for everything.

My wife went for the one day workshop offered by Greg Stefan Studios and this is her summary: 1) Great value. Even better if you luck out and buy the living social promotion before it ends. 2) Workshop was clean and organized(Neighborhood is so-so but plenty of parking right out front). Greg was very friendly, talented, and helpful. 3) You learn a lot, have fun, and leave with a small piece you cut, sanded, foiled, and soldered yourself! 4) Pieces he had displayed in the studio were gorgeous. 5) Small touches like offering bottled water and flexible workshop times made this a standout experience. 6) Greg offers a 10 week course if you wish to continue learning stained glass and complete a bigger project. Overall, it was a great experience. Check it out!

Who doesn’t love stained glass windows? I was ecstatic when I I bought a 3.5 hours workshop from livingsocial. It is completely different from other workshops such as byob wine painting, which I can do by myself. The stained glass was such as great deal and I loved every moment of it. Greg was amazing. He was patient and knowledgeable. He has such a passion from stained glass that it becomes contagious. We started off by picking out what we want to make, I chose the stereotypical butterfly while my friend chose a whale. Greg showed us how to cut the glass and gave us pieces to practice on before we even started which was great because it looked so simple but its not. not at all. After that, he showed us how to properly use the grinder, than foiling. Foiling is WAY harder than it looks. It looks like you just wrap the glass piece around sticky shiny foil but no, it has to be perfect and in the middle. I had to do a piece three times because one side had more than the other. After that, he showed us how to apply lux safely and solder them properly. He showed us tips and tricks and it was great. In 3.5 hours, I learned quickly how to do things. It was the spark of a new hobby. My friend and I have never done stained glass before but with the help of Greg, we created something worthy of buying, if I do say so myself. It was so much fun that when summer hits, we’ll be taking his 8 week class. Stained glass is so beautiful and there is so much you can do with it. I don’t think it can ever get boring like knitting and sewing did for me quickly. As soon as we left, we were ecstatic. How many people can say they learned stained glass? Something that you can be so proud of and want to show EVERYONE what you created? It was amazing and I loved every moment of it. I highly recommend it.
