I had pan seared red snapper it was delicious, my companion had duck salad it was excellent, greens were really fresh. Our server was good natured & answered all our questions. Didn’t like the seating it was uncomfortable & a odd choice

What I love the most about this place is the friendly neighborhood atmosphere. They also have a great beer selection, and you can’t beat their burgers! Mt. Pleasant and Mergueze are my favorites. The Lincoln dr. Mussels are delicious too. Live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays and quizzo on Tuesdays. Always a fun time at Goat Hollow!

Love Goat Hollow! Great atmosphere and food. The building is urban chic. They renovated an old building in a great neighborhood. The burgers are the best, but they have healthy options too.

As always, it takes much too long to get a waiter over right away and too long to get the first round of drinks out and dinner ordered and then had to wait for the 2nd round of drinks after the food arrived. Food was great, service was friendly and atmosphere lovely, but they need to figure out the bottleneck at the bar when the restaurant is crowded. Also, leave the beer/wine menu at the table!

Recent notes on food: these guys are more or less going for this sort of menu: They miss the mark badly here and there, especially with the smoked brisket. First, it’s often tough and dry. Second, their obligatory horseradish sauce RUINS the unique qualities of smoked brisket, even of dried out smoked brisket. Third, the cheese on the smoked brisket sandwich is a terrible idea. Cheese and smoked brisket don’t go together, period. So order selectively.

This was my first time coming to the«new» Goat Hollow, and a good time was had by all. Service was good, food was good, kids were happy, wheelchair accessible. Will come again!

I’m Writing this in Hopes There will Never be a next time… Last night 4÷11÷16 after continuing the traditional Opening Day Loss(Phillies Home Opener) with my dad and maneuvering through the 45k people leaving a car fire on 76 and an overturned truck on 95 causing a commute from South Philly to Mt Airy even down 38th St nearly 2hrs. I give you this back story bc it was around 8:30 or so when I ordered take out on this Monday night. I ordered the Goat Hollow as a chicken sandwich and a Mt Pleasant Burger Med/Med-well(my dad has yet to come around yet he’ll eat a little completely raw…). I had every intention of splitting both! I have been eating as many amazing foods as possibly since spending a month in the hospital and getting out on 3⁄25. I was soooo looking forward to soft tender slow cooked candied melt in your mouth pork belly. That way it dissolves before you even really chew like a heavenly butter sort of that you forget you’re eating the stomach of pig. That with provolone cheese and chicken would delight my taste buds! Unfortunately what was on my plate was indeed the stomach of the pig gray slimy with the brown rind. There was some meat attached to it the muscle I’m assuming and that had a nice smoky flavor. The chicken was slightly between jello and done. My dad used his iPhone to make sure it wasn’t pink. I was able to salvage the sandwich with some jalapeño jam. I will say that the Roll stayed fresh for take out and the fries while they lacked any actual tastiness were still crispy in the box. And of course the pickle. This was done WELL! Wrapped separately so not to get it’s juices mixed in. This time I think it might have helped. Their special sauce I passed on it looked way too Mayo-ie for me. Now for the Mt Pleasant Burger requested Med/med-well bc my dad doesn’t due Med. I had hoped for a juicy burger but what I got was a dry squished patty that someone rushed by pressing it into the grill. They flatted it out killing all the juice. The blue cheese was crumbled and barely singed a light brown but not warm or melted as I’ve made with my own burgers. Again. When it came to execution these take out dishes were subpar. I’m deeply disheartened bc I love this local place! I have their digits in my phone bc my «?» spends lots of time together buddy loves their soup and specials. I call and ask what they are and we’ll get anywhere from 2 no lie after dinner one night he asked for 6 more bowls of soup to go! He ate 4 of them by noon the next day! I’ve had a fish meal here though that was a miss. It seems like some nights the kitchen is BANGIN! Other nights they’re off they’re game by miles. Maybe it’s my Dad they don’t like. But EVERYONE hearts JimO. I hope we can get it right next time he’s around.

The atmosphere was nice, not amazing. The stone walls and candle light were a nice touch, however, our table appeared to be the only one in the room without a candle. I ordered the trout special. Bite one: amazing. Bite 2: RAW. The fish was completely undercooked, cold, slimy, and disturbing. The waitress apologized and said a new plate would be coming out right away. 45 minutes later, after my friends had long since finished their meals, I was no longer hungry but got my food anyway. The beverage service was very slow as well. They only charged me half price for my meal.

Late night on a Sunday… Came for Poutine because I’ve heard so much about it from a former manager… Appetizers of scallops with risotto started off OK until one of the three scallops was raw… Nicely braised brown on the outside but just this side of edible… My date was really put off by it… Well lets reserve rating until the Poutine and Caesar salad arrive. Unilocal! The Caesar salad that we ordered without anchovies … Two ugly critters on top… My fries are cold Two stars??? the risotto was tasty

The food here is excellent. They cure their own meats and it shows, particularly at brunch. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the service. They just don’t seem to have enough staff to keep up with even moderate crowds. Tonight, our drinks came well after our appetizers were finished. Dirty plates were stacked up all over our table. Try to go at less busy times.

Good food, beautiful atmosphere, terrible customer service! I was excited about coming here, yet we waited more than 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there. My girlfriend and I were actually laughing in disbelief that people were just walking past us not saying anything. The waitress was really sweet but it took her forever to get to our table and even longer to come back after she brought our food. I do not suggest this restaurant.

Took my buddy here for a birthday dinner on Sunday-day one post blizzard. It was early-ish(4 p.m.) and there were a few customers at the bar and one table right next to the very cheery, working Franklin stove. The place smelled of good food. I wish I could remember the bartender’s name, because he was jovial, welcoming and very pleasant without being fake or obnoxious. We chose a table and looked at the menu. JH, my buddy, likes craft beers so he choose something dark and I had Goat Hollow’s version of a Negroni-a Notgroni. Very nicely done and went well with the charcuterie and cheese platter we started with. We chatted, sipped and nibbled, enjoying the warmth of the stove and the very pleasant ambiance. The barkeep came over to take our dinner order and brought another round of drinks. JH had the Mt. Pleasant burger and raved about it; he loves carmelized onions. I ordered the brisket and was not crazy about it. It was clear the meal had been microwaved. The brisket was on the tough side, I got no horseradish and the collards that came with it tasted just like the brisket-smoky. Nothing wrong with smoky, but the plating was not attractive and everything was pretty much brown or brownish. Nevertheless, I ate it and suffered no ill effects. The bartender checked on us a few times and my pal and I caught up with the events of the past month as we ate. When the bartender came back to check if we wanted dessert, I told him it was JH’s birthday and he said«his dessert’s on me.» We ordered crème brûlée which JH enjoyed, and I had chocolate mousse which came with whipped cream, strawberries and blue berries. Not stellar, but comforting and a nice end to the meal. We were not rushed, we felt at home, and since JH lives a few blocks from Goat Hollow, he plans to make it his local. The bartender chatted with us a bit more as we were getting ready to leave and made us feel like regulars. He really made the evening for us with his genuine hospitality and wonderful service. I would definitely go back, avoid the brisket but try the fish tacos and another house cocktail or 2. This is a great place and a fine example of a Philly bar!

I just wanted to add that I went for a burger and it was one of the greatest meals I’ve had in a restaurant, in my life. Yes, I know it was just a burger but when something is done right, it deserves recognition.

I can’t believe this superb Mt. Airy gastropub has only 3 stars on Unilocal. They are definitely in the 4 – 5 star range, and I don’t hesitate in giving them 5. The food is excellent — even the veggie burger, which so often can be routine and uninspired, was fully satisfying on my last visit. The beer selection is really outstanding, as they have many choices on tap. I’ve been here many times, and have never had a bad experience with the staff being inattentive. On a cold day, I like the Franklin stove that they’ll have fired up, and I can’t wait for them to open the outdoor area, which I understand should be this summer. If this were my neighborhood pub, you’d find me here all the time! It doesn’t get better.

Tremendous beer list, decent food, but really spotty service. Never known for their swiftness, on my most recent visit, it took fully 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our drinks order, then a further 10 minutes for the drinks to be served. With the potential this place has, it should be buzzing, but with the attitude of staff and management, it’s easy to see why McMenamins is cleaning up, and Goat Hollow isn’t.

well, the food is good I can say that. The food is good which is good! BUT the waitstaff is absolutely C L U E L E S S God forbid they had a light crowd there or NOBODY would be served. Monday night: 1 waiter, 1 bartender(and whoever is in the kitchen). I think maybe 11 customers in the restaurant when we(party of 3) came in(3 or 4 tables &1 person at bar). A really laid back scene. Took about 20 minutes to get a drink… then a long wait for food. Waitstaff were friendly and all but good grief is this the first and only restaurant you’ve ever worked in? Is it that you don’t care? Or is it that you don’t know how a restaurant should run? If this restaurant fails, it will be because of the waitstaff, period. I don’t want it to fail so I hope the owner(s) read their reviews.

I feel like the quality of the food has decreased since I wrote my initial review last year. Last month was the last time my husband and I ate dinner here for a few reasons: 1. The food took beyond a reasonable amount of time to be served(over an hour) 2. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and fries and my husband got a burger and fries. Both of our fries were brought out so brunt that our server apologized before even handing us the plates. He clearly realized he should not have left the kitchen with these items but did not want to make us wait longer. Prior to finishing our meal, we were brought fresh fries. My sandwich bread was also very brunt. I ended up wasting about half of it. I continue to give this place 3 stars because they do have a decent menu and our service has always been good, but given the new options on Germantown Ave, I think I will skip Goat Hollow.

First time here and it was stellar. Terrific service courtesy of our server David and the most excellent gentleman host whose name I am sadly forgetting. I love the atmosphere – a hodgepodge of rustic, reclaimed wood, gun metal accents with pops of red. A great use of the space that maximizes seating. Anywho, they take reservations(courtesy of Unilocal Seat Me!) and I snagged one on my dining partner’s suggestion. However when we got there it was just us! Just made it feel all the more special :) We were early on Saturday(arrived around 5pm) so I don’t think there was as big a need as there is starting around 6:30/7. It was cranking by the time we left. To the food: We had a gosh darn hard time deciding, because there are too many options yo! Eventually started with the French onion soup. It was delicious, but it was warm to lukewarm. Next came the scallops. Now about 10 years ago or so I had a bad bout with scallops. They were ill prepared and I didn’t exactly like my extended makeout session with king porcelain, so I was naturally quite wary of ordering those. However, my dinner partner hadn’t stopped raving about her previous visit and her love of scallops and so I caved … Friends. Redemption is a really beautiful thing. Everything about this dish was delectable. The white wine sauce, the risotto cake and best of all the scallops. Perfectly seared with a silght crunch, but so soft and supple and flavorful. Divine. In conjunction with my Tequila Mockingbird, it was a real, mighty fine pleasure. For the main course I had the steak frites and a special drink, the agave Sazerac. WOOSAH to that beverage; like sippin’ the stairway to heaven. My companion got the top selling jambalaya. I had my heart fixed on some steak frites so I was in hog heaven, but I ain’t gonna lie. My fork took several dips into that seafoody haven of a jambalaya plate and it was heavenly. Whoever is in that kitchen is throwing down. Sadly, I ran out of room for dessert, but an apple crisp went by and it looked and smelled sensational. I can’t rave enough about how pleasant the entire staff is. People were shaking my hand and introducing themselves like true neighbors – and we are! If you’re in Mt. Airy and have a hankering for a relaxed and rustic atmosphere, tasty sips and full-flavored good eats, hit up Goat Hollow. They’re working on creating an outdoor patio space, which, listen. Y’all don’t even want me to get started on my patio love. Just go.
