I had the cheesesteak egg rolls and fries which were delicious! My friend had funnel cake fries(Yes, funnel cake fries!), and I can’t wait to go back to have my own, they were sooo good. The drinks were exceptionally priced, the atmosphere was cool… I think I’ve found a new spot thanks to DJ Ali!

If you are over 23, and have a sophisticated beer palate beyond IPAS and fruity beer, avoid this place. Service is horrible. Bartenders are more concerned with counting tips they don’t deserve, rather than actually servicing customers. Bartender actually poured me a drink in an old glass half full of melted ice because he was too lazy to give me a fresh glass. Then took offense when I pointed it out. Too many alternatives here to make this worthwhile.

By far the best wings I’ve ever had are from here. The buffalo sauce is perfect and the wings are actually have meat on them! During the summer they also have a crab quesadilla which if I had to choose one thing to eat forever it would be that! Hands down the best quesadilla I’ve ever tasted. It should definitely be on the menu everyday during the summer and not just as a special.

Franklins you are so bad!!! We have gone to you a lot the past 4 years and every time is worse than the previous but today was our last day. We came in, sat a table and no servers came. We did not see one server and the place wasn’t busy… I went to the bar to get our menus and asked for four waters. No waters came and after 15 minutes we left. This is the third time this has happened where we wait a ridiculous amount of time for shitty service and cold food. After this happened we walked down the street to Billy Murphys and immediately were given menus and super friendly service. The food was 100x better and not overpriced like Franklins either. Not sure why we kept going there, but we gave you enough chances and are happy to have moved on.

I’ve gone to this place 3 times in 3 weeks. The 1st time I went on a Tuesday and my family and I got the chicken cheesesteak special. The food was really good and our waiter was cool. The 2nd and 3rd time we went on Monday for their $.50 wing special. The wings were ok, definitely not great, and the waitresses on both occasions were a hot mess, talking fast and loud and just plopping the menus and straws on the table. I can’t take dealing with crackheadish behavior from waitstaff sooo my family and I will probably not visit a 4th time. Too bad we didn’t get the same service our last 2 visits as we did during our 1st time. My fiancé and I were really excited about telling our friends about this spot after our first visit but we completely changed our minds after our last 2 visits… sad because this place has potential.

Excellent selection of beers — especially if you’re into IPAs. Pretty good bar food… I mean, it all tastes the same after a few beers anyway. Great parking situation with probably 50 or 100 spaces between their own lot and plentiful street parking. Plus, it’s stumbling distance to the train station in case you’ve had too many and need to head home.

I want to like Franklin’s. I really do. I’ve been here numerous times. My fellow teachers crowd this place for happy hour on Friday’s, and so the crowd is good. They have skeeball! And basketball! The food is worthwhile! They’re set up to kill it. Downside: I’ve been burned by their prices too often. I love my craft beer, and the selection on tap is decent. Last time I was there, I ordered 2 beers during happy hour, and then the bartenders switched shifts and I had to close up. $ 15 for 2 beers! During happy hour! Ouch. The time before that I ordered a few Dogfishhead 60 min IPAs to go. $ 6.75 each! It’s a $ 3 beer everywhere else you go, and these guys jack it up 200%. $ 5 Troeg Draft night apparently didn’t include Nugget Nectar, but they don’t tell you that until it’s time for the check. If they had their beer prices listed, I’d feel more comfortable that I wasn’t getting ripped off when it came time to close up. It’s just too many times feeling like this place was scamming Go here, have fun, and order the city wide. At least that price is listed on a wall.

Whup. I think the Troegs day has switched from Tuesdays to Thursdays, and if I’m still correct Monday has this ridic 50 cent wing night(which is my favoritest thing because their wings are DELECTABLE) … but there’s always something special going on at Franklin’s so you should just head on in and see for yourself!

My friends and I came here after a Sunday evening climbing session at PRG. When we walked past the bar area to see about outdoor seating, the bartender directed us to sit outside on the back deck and told us he’d be right with us. As soon as we sat down, we all looked at each other and were like«uhh… is he the only person who’s working here right now?» It appeared that way, because he took our food and drink orders all while still manning the bar indoors. Not gonna lie, I admire the hustle. Despite his divided attention, he brought out or drinks right away and he brought the food out shortly thereafter. There was a wonderful selection of beers on tap! Diverse and unique options. The pizza I ordered was pretty average, but the fried pickles exceeded expectations for a spot like this. They were thin-cut like fries and super crispy. I wish the pickle: breading ratio was a little higher, though, because I could have used more pickle-y flavor! The space seems great for groups– the main dining room is enormous, not to mention all the seating available on the large deck out back. Hit the spot for some greasy post-climbing grub.

Very cool bar not too far from the train. Good beer selection, a beautiful outdoor deck, decent food and lots of bar games. It seems like a good neighborhood bar. I’ve had fun both times I’ve been there(it’s not in my neighborhood). If I’m in the area again I would definitely stop by.

And despite fearing for my life driving through the«alleys» this city considers roads I made it. So I came here for a happy hour with some of the girls last Friday around 6 or so. The place was reasonably empty so it was easy for us to grab a table. The bartender was nice and pretty quick. Only downside was there was no real drink specials, there was 50 cent off all drinks I believe and some kind of mango wheat beer that a few of the girls tried and weren’t fans of. Considering it was National Tequila Day, I would have hoped they would of have something on special. I ended up ordering a strong bow cider and the pretzel crusted chicken fingers and tater tots. It was delicious ! The chicken fingers were actually REAL chicken. Not frozen sticks that someone just threw on a tray. Thank you Thank you Thank you for that! Thanks for the tots as well, it was a nice change for the drab fries that always come when you have the typical, sandwich, chicken finger order. I’d make the trek again and you should too!

The food is «JUSTOK» only thing here worth traveling for is the different beers on tap and good conversation In response to the GM who responded to my review it’s impressive you stand by your staff But my opinion is my opinion. and I stand by what I wrote… I took shots at no one But your request that I stay away, will be honored! Best Wishes

Franklins is a great local place in my neighborhood. I love the deck outside on nice days to sit and have a beer and maybe a bite to eat. I have never had anything to eat here that I didn’t like. Chicken Caprice is my favorite. Also the Short Rib Grilled Cheese is amazing. If you are in the mood for good inexpensive food and drinks in a chill atmosphere– go to Franklins.

Regardless of my rating for Franklin’s, I would still go back all the time. It’s where my East Falls friends and I hang out to watch anything on their many TVs. That being said, I really struggle to get past their painfully slow service, for orders and drinks at least. Close to a dozen times I’ve been there, and it never fails. On several instances, I waited for a good 20 minutes before anyone even came over and said anything. I’ve sat in every possible location to see where the fastest service is. I’ve ordered more than 1 drink in anticipation of not being checked on for the rest of the night. And I’ve checked the menu online so I know what I’m getting before I even go! Mind you, these were all on weeknights as well, with pretty small crowds. The food here is fantastic and definitely does a good job in making up for the service. The guys in the kitchen do a bang up job on things from their burgers and grilled cheese with tater tots to the standard bar food like honey bourbon wings and fried pickles. Everything comes out quickly, is nice and hot, and tastes fresh. During my last visit, we sat at the bar and spent time watching both the NBA draft and the bartender constantly cursing out the Troegs tap for not working properly. Maybe the first few times it was funny, but after a while I really could not have cared less about the tap not working. Neither could anyone else at the bar that clearly heard him. Again, I will go to Franklin’s whenever I’m in the area, grab some food, have a few beers with my friends, and willingly spend my money. Just think of this as an FYI about the service, and some advice about not expecting any return texts from those tindering Manayunk girls you’ve been trying to impress at a place like Franklin’s.

Slowly becoming regulars here after moving into the neighborhood last month. Great selection of local beers and the food is consistently awesome(favorites are the Mahi Mahi Tacos, Sweet Bourbon Hot Sauce Wings, Chile Nachos, and of course the TOTS!) Their weekend brunch is also good. Reasonable prices. Nice bartenders(especially Kim!). We will keep coming back because they never disappoint!

Nothing like walking in to an empty bar/restaurant and having all the staff just stare at you, but not otherwise acknowledge you… The food ended up being pretty decent, but the service was horrible. We had to wait a long time for a server to come over, to then come back with menus, the food, and the check. Mind you there were about 10 servers/bartenders and only 6 customers. To top the experience off, we watched our server pet a dog and the dog lick her hands. We then saw her walk inside and immediately come back out with our food. No way she could have washed her hands! There was another server busing the table next to us, flinging drinks over the balcony. I would never come back and would only recommend this place to college students. It’s a shame because the place could have potential if they fixed up the deck area and trained the staff.

I gotta say this is the my second time here and I really like it like the the first time I was here. I had a excellent experience. The staff was very nice in my opinion. The food in my was great. Even the French Onion soup that the girl next to me ordered looked good. It’s a very nice place and I recommend this place. I can’t wait til the warmer months so I can enjoy the patio. The place is very spacious and it is a nice crowd of people on a Friday night. I didn’t get a chance to meet the owner/manager like the Unilocal reviews say. But overall I really like this place.

My sister and I hit Franklin’s for an early dinner, not knowing what to expect. The layout is what you would see in a big sports bar. The main dining room with bar is huge and then there is a smaller bar room with games and a jukebox towards the back. A big wraparound deck is off the back. At just after 4pm, the place was nearly empty so we took seats at the back bar where the only other customer was sitting. The bartender was friendly and everything we ordered came out fast. I noticed a solid beer selection though I stuck with light beer. We ordered the fried pickle chips to start, and they were really solid. Cornmeal crusted and served with a really great aioli. We both had buffalo chicken salads and found them to be very tasty. I would have preferred a bed of romaine lettuce instead of plain old iceberg, and a little more buffalo sauce would have been great. Next time I’ll ask for some on the side. Franklin’s seems like a fun place for an after work happy hour(assuming they get more of a crowd after 5 or 6). Sis and I are definitely planning to return.

Great Neighborhood bar. I like the openness and the random diversity of the people it attracts on an given night college kids, neighborhood professionals, to groups of professors that I had a cool time with one night. I have come for happy hour and also after a night out in center city, it’s always the same — cool, friendly staff that overlook your drunk behavior of you and your obnoxious friends… LOL I like the beer selection, wish they would have more craft beers from the local area. When I am in the mood to eat, the food is consistently good and I like that it is laid back but on the weekends gets a little rowdy. In the summer, the outdoor seating is cool. If you are in the area — go in have a beer and check out the vibe.
