Follicles Hair Salon & Design Center

I went to Follicles to get my hair done for my wedding. My mom, sister & I all had up-​dos that we ABSOLUTELY loved. All 3 of us have very thin hair & they somehow transformed it to look thick & gorgeous! Several of my friends also got blowouts that they loved. Everyone in the salon was so sweet & I couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to have been on the morning of my wedding. I will definitely be back & would highly suggest this salon!

Lindsey is amazing. She and the ladies at the salon have saved me from so much stress in the 2 weeks before my wedding. After a last minute price adjustment by my previous hair style list (Lynda at Amelia Paris in glen mills who changed her price from $ 200 to $ 1200 3 weeks before my wedding) and then a terrible trial at salon 90, I was stressed out about finding someone reasonable to do my hair. Follicles was able to get me in the same day and Lindsay was able to do such a beautiful half up half down hairstyle with braids that both of the other stylists could not do. So it all worked out in the end! I’m so thankful and cannot wait to get my hair done day of.

I have gone to Follicles for over 12 years now, and have received wonderful haircuts from Jen for all that time ! I have only good things to say about everyone who works there ~ they are warm, caring, friendly, fun, professional and very good at what they do. The setting, near the Farmers Market, is lovely, and the interior space itself is beautiful as well as comfortable !
I am a more than satisfied customer, and have sent several people there. They have become regulars ! I give them rave reviews !

I have been a follower of Follicles Design center for about 28 years. Jayne Joseph has been cutting my hair the whole time although all the other stylists are excellent as well. Follicles has had a few different locations over the years and I’ve followed them where ever they went. The current team of stylists are so friendly, welcoming, and really make you feel at home. I have gotten my hair colored there as well as haircuts and I always get compliments on the color and cut. Many of my friends and co-​workers also go to Follicles and are extremely happy too. I highly recommend this facility and a plus is that it is located in the same parking lot as the Chestnut Hill Farmers Market so you can do some shopping for lunch or dinner AND get a haircut. If you haven’t been to Follicles, give it a try! I think you’ll be pleased.

Faith did a wonderful job giving me the short haircut I asked for. I don’t need to put any product in for it to look good which speaks volumes for Faith’s talent with hair. I will definitely return to see her again. The salon was very relaxed and comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was trying to get a seat at the popular girls lunch table, which is how a lot of salons come across these days. The haircut was affordable, in a cute location with lots of natural light. It’s behind the chestnut hill hotel. They had pictures for you to point at and say «make me look like that,» which I find very helpful in that situation. I didn’t give 5 stars because I like when people disclose over the phone to new customers that they don’t offer a credit card tip option. I should have been prepared, but would have liked a heads up. I guess that’s probably the norm these days though. Thank you Faith! Hope to see you again soon!

I came here a few months ago to test the place out before booking them for my wedding. I asked for ombré color, which I hadn’t ever done before. Rebecca did an excellent job and was great about explaining to me what she was doing. I was very happy with the results and am looking forward to seeing her again for my wedding!

I really like this place. I’ve been seeing Faith for many years now and I most always leave completely satisfied. I’m a guy and I have a really hard time finding a stylist who I feel does a consistently good job. She specializes in men’s hair — just wish they would give her more hours; right now it’s Saturday’s only. The other staff is also very friendly. You just gotta know that the entrance is around the back off the Chestnut Hill hotel off of Germantown Ave, next to the farmer’s market.

Follicles is a GREAT place to get your hair done. I also go to Jen. She’s excellent with color and always does a sharp cut. They do accept credit and check payments (noticed someone said they didn’t, but that was a while ago). It’s a bright and relaxing place to go, and it has parking right out side the door. I highly recommend it… I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I was going to a wedding so i thought i would take that opportunity to fix my hair. i go in and ask how much it would cost for color and blowdry. she said $ 65 color $ 35 blowdry. NO MENTION of the fact that since she used two colors it would be more expensive. It was her job to state it would be more than what she quoted me origionally. I never asked for two colors, if she combined two she shouldn’t charge for two. WHILE she was perfectly nice… once my apt was done, she thought she could just tack on an extra $ 20. Her kind demeanor changed. Even though I gave her a 20% tip on the agreed price. Also, it’s super classless to count tip money in front of client right after client gives u money. tsk tsk. everyone was kind, but trying to upcharge me and counting tip money IS NOT COOL!!!

Jenn rocks! Great cut, lots of good advice and a real intuitive knowledge of curly hair. I am very happy with the results and the entire experience. You can call me a regular!
Free parking behind the Farmers Market.

This place is tucked back by the Farmer’s Market, so you have to know it’s there. A parking lot is right in front of it, which is nice. I walked by one day and tucked it in the memory bank for the future.
When I finally went, I had a decent hair cut, but I’m not really too picky. I have long hair, and as long as I walk away with shorter hair that’s pretty even and not crazy short, I’m pretty satisfied. I also don’t like describing tiny details to a hair stylist about which strands should be shorter than which, so it was nice when I told the lady, «whatever inspires you, just not too short», and I felt totally comfortable with letting her take the reigns. She did a great job.
My only complaint is that the lady who washed my hair (I think she was the receptionist) did a super crappy job. Again, I’m not very picky at the salon, but I have a lot of experience going to them. …so when she washes my hair and puts the towel around me, but water cascades down my back, soaking my clothes, I did not appreciate it when she blamed it on me. (That’s why I didn’t tip you, lady, FYI).
***Warning*** NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED!!! I payed with a check and they were barely okay with that.

Lily has cut my hair twice and both times I was extremely pleased… if a cut wasn’t $ 55 dollars I would definitely give it 5 stars!
One thing that I really love is that she lets me sit back and relax. She doesn’t chat my ear off or want to know my life story which I appreciate since I would prefer that she focus on my hair! Her fancy belt of hair cutting tools proves that she’s a pro… if you need a stylish cut schedule a session with Lily!

I’ve never gotten my hair cut here, but I do go here regularly for waxing. They’re prompt, well trained, professional, and they do a very expert job. They’re prices aren’t bargain, but they are competitive with other spas and salons in Chestnut Hill.
