Attended the«Crumble(Lay Me Down Justin Timberlake)» performance last night and can I just say, it was wonderful! This was the first time I bore witness to a Flashpoint production and well, I approve. The talented cast brought each character to life in the cozy, intimate setting of the second stage at the Adrienne. Not only was the play highly entertaining, it tackled real issues — ranging from pre-teen drama and cat ladies all the way to family dynamics and love. The theater, although old and with«paper-thin» walls — is replete with character and that je né sais quoi one always craves in a theater setting. Overall great performance and great acting in a venue able to pull it all together to make one feel welcome and truly part of the performance.

To me theatre should be something exciting — whether that is LOL funny or tackling social issues that we all find just a little outside our comfort zone, I like to see theatre that inspires me to think in new directions during and even after the show. Flashpoint seems to understand this in profound ways — by producing contemporary playwrights tackling very modern issues, this company sits on the cutting edge of the Philly theatre scene. I really enjoy their bravery in exploring the more challenging corners of modern life with a childlike curiosity so that their audiences can easily come to their own conclusions.
