Neighborhood gem, great seafood. We had the calamari appetizer, Pil Pil shrimp, and the mussels. We will go back!

Just as this place is about to CLOSEPERMANENTLY do I decide to write a review. Sigh. It’s down the block from me, cozy, cute, and delicious. What more could I ask for? I am always coming here for girls night out dinner and wine/vent sessions with my girlfriend. We are able to split two or three dishes + a bottle of wine for like, $ 40 each. Pretty damn good deal if I do say so. The dishes are delicious with the nice lemony, grilled, olive oil-y taste of Greek cuisine that you’re looking for. Fairly simple fare, nothing too elaborate or inventive here. The wine list is short, but gets the job done. The servers have all been really helpful, warm and fast. The place is always packed. Though their two other locations will still be in business, this spot will be sorely missed after March 1st.

After a day of pre holiday KOP madness, cooking was the last thing I had on my mind. Luckily my boyfriend is a pushover when it comes to restaurants, and his good experiences here prompted us to go in on a Sunday evening. Our waitress was very nice and once I warned her of my food allergies, took extra care to inform me of which items to avoid/ask for clarification for items which about which she was unsure. I really appreciate this in a server — food allergies are a bitch and I hate to be high maintenance, so having someone who genuinely was empathetic towards me was a huge bonus in my book. We ordered the amount of food she suggested for 2, which was quite a lot, but luckily taking home olives and hummus meant we had snacks a few days later. The hummus wasn’t awesome — I’d maybe skip that next time. Plus, I like to order things I can’t make at home. The shrimp was good but what really stands out to me from this meal was the grilled octupus. Oh. My. God. If we would have known how delicious that was our entire meal would have probably been 3 plates of that. I’d go back just for that and a glass of wine. It’s also a cute spot(the CC location) and seems accommodating for dates or groups of friends. We lucked out on parking but I’m not sure how it is on busier times… I was going to write more but I am stuck thinking about the octopus. Oh well.

I really tried to like Dmitiri’s, after a first negative experience I came back, this time to sit at the bar and realized that the service was still not up to par as it took about 45 minutes to get a glass of wine. The first time I went I had the seafood bowl and I will strongly advise not to order this as the Mussels were over cooked and the bowl smelled of raw stinky fish– it was not fresh! I will say that the hummus is pretty good, however they do not serve the hummus with any veggies, they serve it with delicious pita, but since the hummus is such a large plate I would have liked to seen some veggies on it

solid 3 food but i still love it and will go back. i had a flight to philly and thought what the hell — drove to dimitri’s…getting lost in the bad neighborhoods trying to get to my usual location close to south street, opted for the less down to earth folks of rittenhouse square. bland ambiance. reasonably good food. nice service. high value highly recommended. even though i avoid chains and places with multiple locations, i’m delighted to see them successful. wishing them the best.

A group of friends and I came in for a girlfriends birthday this week. When we arrived and were waiting for our table, the bartender was attentive and fast. Once seated we all opted to order al la carte and share everything(which seems to be the best plan of action here). Food was brought as it was ready so not only was everything fresh and hot, but also felt less overwhelming than getting 9 plates at once. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the octopus and pan fried scallops. And between 6 people, 2 bottles of wine, and a lot of food, the tab wasn’t beyond a reasonable number. For a first timer and an industry person I was very satisfied and would definitely go again.

A great spot for some Mediterranean food. The place is small so get there early. Even if you have to wait a bit, it is well worth the wait. The food is fresh and well seasoned and flavorful. If you have a small party, I recommend getting Mediterranean plate, shrimp pil pil, and octopus. They are always a favorite of mine. The few times I’ve gone with my friends, we were seated almost immediately and the service was really fast. I love this place and have no complaints except the place can get pretty cramped and noisy when they’re busy.

Ambience: Love the outdoor sitting during warm summer months. It’s a great, open restaurant with a fun vibe. Clearly a but restaurant but we hardly had to wait for a table on a Friday evening The order: Hummus: I am not sure if this is the best hummus I have had, but it had a nice balance of flavors. Grilled veggies: this is a must order on my book. Beets: standard, but yummy Grilled Octopus: tender and flavorful. Chopped up for the tentacle-phobes. Win. Shrimp Pil Pil: spicy sauce over lightly battered and fried shrimp. Another win. Mussels(in tomato sauce): loved the spicy broth. I was too busy with the broth … So don’t remember what the mussels tasted like Spinach Pie: luxurious, yummy spinach pie. I probably wouldn’t want to eat the whole thing by myself, but wouldn’t mind splitting this with others!

Dmitri’s is in a great location, nestled on the corner of a quiet neighborhood street. The bartender greeted us with a warm smile and welcome. We sat in the back next to the kitchen, the room was full with other diners within a half hour. Our waiter didn’t rush us and provided us with lots of recommendations. We started with the beets and Greek salad, both great to share. I loved the sautéed mussels, slightly breaded, light and delicious with a squeeze of lemon. Also tried the grilled calamari that was cooked perfectly. Over several glasses of wine(we should’ve ordered a bottle), we enjoyed our friends company and fresh, light, flavorful food. Wonderful place to go on a date or with a group, the bar in front had plenty of high top tables and several stools at the bar with window views of the tree lined street and park across the way.

I dined there tonight for the first time. Very disappointed. Entrée selections for served on plates that would be small size even for appetizer portion. No room to cut up the food or put any other portions of food from our shared appetizers. Appetizer combo plate served on a larger platter — but not even a serving spoon to portion the food out. Unbelievable Whoever is running the kitchen and preparing the food is apparently mindless. I would not return.

OMG Dmitri’s is my faaaave. Best location of the threesome. Alfresco along Fitler Square? Yes please. The food is divine. Not sure if the whole«original Dmitri’s has best food» phenomenon is psychological or actual, but this place wins for convenience, location, and liquor. While not BYO like the other two locations, the bartenders do not skimp on servings. My libation — Bluecoat gin on the rocks with lemon — came in a glass the size of my Swedish lady fist. For only $ 7, I was satisfied. The Greek house wine is also a good bet for $ 5.50/glass. I can never resist the grilled octopus, nor the mussles. Giganitic salads worth your dime. Always the perfect balance of vinegar, lemon, oil, and herbs on everything. A few of the waitresses I’ve had serve up the sass — but they are probably just worn down by the many demands of their Southwest Rittenhouse clientele.

I’m now a fan of this location thanks to a wonderful waitress named, Angela. The food was always great but now the service we get is amazing. You will never be disappointed with any of the food selection, always fresh, perfectly seasoned and prepared to order.

When you walk in you have no idea what to do b/c there was no hostess or a hostess stand. So you just stand around looking confused. Also, I wish they had a better wine list versus just 12 choices in total(yes I said in total). I also thought it was quite expensive per glass(8 – 12 bucks) for a restaurant that felt more like a takeout pizzeria. Also, they don’t take reservations here which is annoying. I ordered the grilled octopus which was fishy and gross. The only good thing was that the waitress was great last night. For great Greek food, skip out on this place and head to Kanella.

I’ve wanted to try Dmitri’s FOREVER. Since we moved into Philly, practically. My Greek heritage demands that I support fantastic, authentic Greek cuisine, and I FINALLY got my wish to go to this very popular neighborhood restaurant after a long and grueling day full of yoga training. It was quite crowded and bustling around 6:30pm on a Saturday night, and everyone seated inside looked relaxed and happy, no doubt due to a combination of great weather and good food and drink. I knew exactly what I wanted to order, and thankfully he’s pretty easy going and only requested we order one additional small plate — which turned out to be entirely unnecessary since we couldn’t even finish all of our food and had to bring back leftovers! We shared the mezze platter for two, which was DELICIOUS. The tzatziki is much, ah, «chunkier» I guess is the word, the creamy yogurt sauce covered full slices of cucumber. The babaganoush is now, actually, the best that I’ve ever had EVER. Most babas are so full of tahini that’s all you can taste, but theirs is filled with the smoky flavor of roasted eggplant and red pepper chunks, and it is GOOOOOOD. The hummus is also fantastic, super rich, smooth and creamy, and the lentils and marinated beets are perfect accompaniments to everything. Oh yeah, and the pita ain’t bad either(and boy did we get A LOT of pita). I insisted on getting the grilled octopus since I haven’t had octopus in AWHILE, and no one cooks it better than a Greek IMHO. Dmitri’s proved me opinion right, the octopus was tender and the fresh lemon juice brightened up the simple Mediterranean dish. My fiancé had insisted on also getting the chicken shish kebab, which was truly silly on our part since we barely touched it with all of the other food surrounding us. But it was really well cooked chicken, tender and still juicy and nicely spiced, with a creamy dill sauce for us to dip/drizzle to our heart’s content. It was such a perfect meal, and with such lovely weather, that all I wanted to do was hop a plane to Greece STAT. Now that is good Greek food :)

Decent food, terrible service. I went here with two friends. We had a curt, inattentive waitress who gave my female friend a rude, dismissive response when she got up(!) to politely request a water pitcher to bring back to the table. After that, I stood up and asked to speak to a manager, when a different waitress walked up and claimed, «The manager isn’t around; just go back to your table.» My friends and I left shortly afterward. Since then, I’ve actively steered people away from this joint. I have a few friends who live in the Fitler Square area who no longer visit Dmitri’s. My other friend with whom I dined that night, who recommended Dmitri’s and used to eat there regularly, stopped after that rude experience.

Dmitri’s in Rittenhouse is every bit as delicious as its sister in Northern Liberties(and I’m sure their third location is just as solid). It’s just so darn *easy* to eat here. There never seems to be a wait, which is nice. It’s informal but not without class. It’s not expensive, plus it’s BYOB which keeps costs even lower(note: cash only). And most importantly, the food is fresh and clean and absolutely delicious. The food is reliably fantastic. The menu is nearly devoid of descriptions; you get items named only«Meatballs» or «Grilled Octopus.» But wow are those meatballs fantastic. I try to stick with specials here as much as I can, because the dishes are so simple and clean that the quality and freshness of the specials manage to really stand out. On this particular trip it was a lightly fried flounder, with just lemon. So simple. So clean. And absolutely scrumptious. It seems no matter which Dmitri’s you go to, you can expect the same level of service, similarly relaxed atmosphere, plus the same high quality of food.

Initially, I planned on giving Dmitri’s a sympathy three stars… but the service was so horrendous it really should be getting just one. I can’t say I was surprised to see that other Unilocalers apparently had the same server, who, as I write this review, is probably out beating up a homeless person or sacrificing a puppy. Seriously though– catching attitude every time she came to the table, being egregiously inattentive despite having only 3 tables, waiting 20 minutes for the check until she finished everything else that was clearly much more important, and then throwing it on the table without even a fake«thanks, have a great night»…if only I had some fluoxetine to leave her as the tip. More importantly though, on to the food, which can basically be summed up as: simple and devoid of any flavor. Now, I understand the whole staying true to ingredients and the potential and authenticity behind simple, basic dishes… but this style is usually predicated on the basis that the dish will still be full of flavor. –Greek salad: Good… even though it did not have any lettuce, the salad offered an impressive amount of fresh cut vegetables, blocks of feta, and just enough tasty dressing to provide a good coat with some pooling in the bottom. –Calamari: Tasteless… there’s nothing worse than undercooked or soggy calamari, so for that Dmitri’s scored a point. The calamari was cooked perfectly, had just enough batter, and was exceptionally crunchy. The second worse type of calamari though, is tasteless calamari… and not all the lemon or tomato sauce in the world could have supplemented the dearth of flavor in these perfectly crispy rings. Pan fried scallops: How can you serve a scallop that doesn’t have that perfect sear going on? That’s just way too elementary. What a shame. Overall, the best part of the meal: the olive oil for our bread

I hadn’t been here in years even though it’s two blocks from my apartment. As a college student it was always a special treat when parents were in town. A friend was coming into the city and he suggested Mediterranean for dinner. It was St. Patrick’s Day so I was avoiding center city and a light bulb went off that Dmitri’s would be perfect. We sat at one of the high tops near the bar. I had a glass of the Greek white wine. It was okay, a little dry for me. We shared the Mediterranean platter, the salmon, and the octopus. Everything was really good. I loved the baba ganoush, hummus, and lentils. The salmon was very simply prepared, and I although I’m not a big salmon eater I though it was good. The octopus was also pretty simply done with lots of citrus flavor. The legs were cooked well, but I still think Resurrection’s octopus is my favorite. I think we ordered the right amount of food for 2 people, but we didn’t finish everything. We sat for awhile after we were finished eating, and our water glasses were continually re-filled, and no one rushed us to leave which was appreciated. I definitely need to come here more often.

Dmitri’s is a great neighborhood spot, but it’s definitely not worth the five stars I’ve given after previous visits. Don’t get me wrong, I love the basic yet delicious food. But I love to enjoy it slowly, and in courses, which doesn’t always happen there. Service is always either very fast or very slow, and not all that involved outside of the ordering process. Sometimes you’ll get apps first and then the mains will come out after. Oftentimes, everything is served right away. You never know. Tonight was one of the better nights, although we changed our order three times before our server came to take it. I do have to give props to the Greek house wine, which can’t be beat at $ 5.50/glass. I drank two and I’m still loopy hours later.
