I was super excited because this place is located LITERALLY two blocks from my front door. However when I called I got an answering machine. Not a voicemail, mind you, but an actual answering machine. For me this is a warning signal. I know that when it comes to medicine there are still a lot of older independent practitioners living in a bygone age. There’s just no excuse for it, though. It’s 2012 and you don’t even have voicemail? I assumed they were closed but since their answering machine greeting didn’t state their hours I decided I’d make the torturous(kidding) 2 block hike to see if they were posted on the door… only to arrive and discover they were, in fact, open! The woman behind the counter — a crotchety old hag whose bright red hair has clearly not been bright or red for some time — was cold and unpleasant from the start. In our brief exchange in which I asked if they took walk-ins she made me feel about as unwelcome as she possibly could. I asked why no one answered the phone when they were clearly open and she said the doctor must have been busy with someone else. So, I’m sorry, what world do we live in where the receptionist doesn’t pick up the phone, ask you to hold, and then put you ON hold? Terrible service and antiquated business practices make this doctor’s office a definite NO!
