I believe this place had a name change. It is now called the Philly Sunnyside Diner. And they get a star just for making me laugh because today, 12÷31÷13 the cashier answered the phone, «Feliz Navidad». Don’t try to be fancy, you’re still on Girard honey. For the price you pay you get a solid meal with decent portion sizes. And it was pretty tasty for a quick service diner-type breakfast. I had french toast, eggs and pork bacon. The french toast was cooked actually quite well and had just the right consistency and the eggs and bacon were pretty standard. You can’t really mess up scrambled eggs and bacon though. I’ve definitely added this place to my «eat anywhere but McDonald’s» list.

If your looking for a quick cheap breakfast this is it. Nothing good, nothing bad. Just not something I would go out of my way for. I only go here when I’m too lazy to cook, don’t want to be seen, don’t want to wait in line and don’t want to pay too much or feel that I have to leave a big tip. Yes, sounds like McDonalds, but maybe not as consistent.

My wife and I eat breakfast here just about every weekend. It’s in walking distance of our home. The food is pretty good and the prices are more then reasonable. I get the fried fish and grits often and my wife usually gets a platter of potatoes eggs and beacon. Before we moved to the neighborhood i used to cook breakfast on the weekends but going to this place is cheaper and faster then cooking myself. I’d recommend this place with no hesitation.

I’ve been having breakfast at this place pretty often. The breakfast sandwich is ok. The egg platters are pretty good and their french toast is very good. Something local and good. So much better than McDonald’s breakfast. They also serve lunch. I’ve had the cheese steak platter with french fries. The cheese steak is ok but the french fries are really good. The prices are very reasonable. I would recommend trying this place out.

This is just the neighborhood greasy spoon. Eggs, pancakes, etc. I guess they have Chinese food too, but I’ve never had anything. In fact, I’ve only ever had egg sandwiches on kaiser rolls, which do me just fine. Nothing special, nothing fancy — $ 3 for an egg, bacon and cheese — but a delicacy to me. mmm… egg sandwiches… Anyway, yeah. This place gets more customers than anywhere I know of on Girard between 25th and the Schuylkill — when they’re open. They’re only open till like 2, though, so that discounts the late night«Chinese American» restaurants, anywhere that sells booze, and all the barbershops. Which is to say that it’s like the fifteenth most popular place in the neighborhood. Which says something, although I’m not exactly sure what.
